 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: after the bike was picked up it was taken to a independent repair shop. The mechanic there told me that I had been ripped off and tech didn't diagnosed the bike right. The repairs that were offered to replace the oil pump lifters and the cams would have caused issues later because the metel in question inside the motor would have still been floating around. I am not accepting this response but will agree to disagree with this . I will never come back to or send any one to that shop ever . It's ashame because I always felt at home and like family there in the past . I am a honest person that works hard for his money and when someone tells me that they are sure that the problem is this and then it turns out it's something else it's a little hard to swallow.I put trust in this shop. I guess you live and learn from your mistakes even if it cost you 1200 bucks.

Dear [redacted],

Below is our statement on [redacted] complaint:

Customer brought his motorcycle in for us to diagnose a noise coming from the right hand side of the bike. The tech inspected and verified customers concern of a noise. Tech's evaluation was that there could be two possible causes for this noise. One being in the cam cover department of the motor and the other being in the transmission area, both of which would have to be pulled apart to confirm the actual problem. Hannum's at this point, informed customer of the tech's suggestion to inspect the transmission area first because it would be the quickest and least expensive place to check. The tech then removed the exhaust system and transmission side cover to inspect for wear. Tech found a large amount of metal debris on the inside of a cover which indicates a bearing failure in the transmission. The customer was then quoted for the rest of the repairs of a transmission rebuild and was also shown in person the metal debris and bearing that broke. Customer gave authorization to Hannum's to make repairs to the motorcycle. Tech made the repairs and reassembled motorcycle, upon going on test ride of the motorcycle the original noise was still present. Tech removed cam cover and inspected and found that a lifter had excessive wear causing damage to cams and oil pump. It was then confirmed that the customers motorcycle had two separate issues that needed to be repaired. Customer was then called and informed that the problem making the noise was indeed coming from the cam cover department as originally told to the customer as a possible cause of the noise. Hannum's gave the customer a quote on these repairs and customer declined work to be completed because a lack of funds to be able to pay for the repairs. At this point with no money given as a deposit for any of the repairs up to date the service manager offered a discount on parts and labor and also free winter storage so the customer could have time to come up with the funds. Customer declined saying that he would just pay what he owes to this point and transport his bike home to stay in his garage until he had the funds to complete the job. Customer request of getting a refund for the transmission repairs because of not being accurately diagnosed is in false pretense, the only way to properly diagnose is to remove the transmission cover or cam cover and inspect, which a problem was found and shown to customer in both the transmission and motor.  If you have any further questions please email or call.  Thank you
