Good Afternoon,
The complaint filed on 3/19/14 was due to a contract related mistake. The customer had called and spoken with the [redacted] for a lengthy amount of time about her wedding & even asked for some tips on how she could have her special day on a sensitive budget. The [redacted] had mentioned the courthouse and was honest with the customer telling her that if she herself booked the courthouse through the county there would not be any fee but booking through the restaurant would result in a $350 charge for a long list of extra amenities provided (such as, use of all garden chairs, their placement & removal on the grounds, included champagne, the bridal room suit & a $50 gift card to return on their anniversary). The customer again mentioned not needing those things & the conversation moved one. During the phone conversation the [redacted] decided to help the customer on a budget the restaurant could lower the normal $200 rental fee to $100 as a nice gesture. The conversation ended & a day later the customer called back requesting a contract be sent. The [redacted] did not recall the customer saying she would not need ceremony amenities & asked who she would be booking her ceremony with at which point the customer said "You all" & the [redacted] added the normal ceremony price & rental fee without recollection of the previous conversation. The [redacted] did not hear back from the customer until receiving this letter & has stated she would had been more than willing to admit her mistake & amend the contract for the customer if given the opportunity to as the mistake was not "bait" but an error. The [redacted] went out of her way to even lower them rental fee of the room for the customer & would still like to correct any mistake or upset caused by the (unsigned) contract that was received.

Review: Discussed with the [redacted] prices of brunch party/celebration and room rental. Rental of room was 100 dollars and plate per person for entre 11.35 plus a champagne package and she would investigate price for mimosa bar. So approximately 200 to 250 for 16 people give or take 64 dollars for champagne and a bit for gratuity. During the course of the conversation I let the cat out of the bag and said I was getting married at the courthouse. When I received the contract it was 500 dollars....200 dollars and a $350 "ceremony fee" that is not described in any way. It was not mentioned in the telephone conversation and it was not mentioned in prior emails.Desired Settlement: I think this is a bait and switch situation and is more common that not when the word "wedding" is involve. Unfortunately it desperately hurts those who get their hopes up and start moving forward on wedding plans. I am getting married late in life and have been out of work due to a very serious illness so there is not much money available to me. I would like a written apology from the [redacted] and [redacted] of Hanover Tavern and the original phone discussion about the rental and fees adhered to.
