Hansen & Sons Chimney & Fireplace

I arranged for Hansen & Sons to perform chimney cleaning for my woodstove, which we use to heat our house. When the worker arrived, I asked about removing the cap from the top of the chimney. He responded, without going up on the roof to check the chimney, that there wasn't any cap on it. He proceeded to disconnect the stovepipe so he could run the brush up the chimney from inside the house. He ran it up as far as it would go and said he didn't want to force it because he could knock the cap off. He ran the brush up a second time. When I asked if he was going to check the clean-out in the basement, he said no. +He then gave me a bill which was $80 more than I had paid another service last year and they had gone up on the roof and into the basement. The service from Hansen & Sons was unsatisfactory and their price was very high.

I highly recommend this company. I have a older home and we wanted to have the chimney checked, cleaned and we needed to have a flue covered.
They were on time, courteous and knowledgeable. They let me know what needed to be done to make our fireplaces not only safe, but up to current fire code. They also let me know that both chimneys were clean, saving me that expense.
The repairs were made quickly and efficiently. They explained everything very well.

Would not recommend Hansen & Sons. Sold my condo but needed the gas fireplace looked at before my closing. Called them a month before closing and the earliest they could get me in was about two weeks out. Their truck broke down the day of my appointment and they couldn't make it out but rescheduled me for 4 days later. The day before my appointment they called to say they wouldn't be able to get to me on the rescheduled day leaving me less than a week before my closing scrambling to find somebody else to come out. Very unprofessional and would not recommend doing business with them.

We had a very poor service interaction with this company(Hansen & Sons Chimney & Fireplace Co.), the technician was not knowledgeable about our Heat N Glo gas fireplace and wanted the owner's manual so he could look at the troubleshooting ideas. I had to basically diagnose the problem and suggest the repair. When the company sent an estimate for the repair it was extremely high, I called another company for an estimate of the same repair and their's was about 40% less than Hansen and Sons. In my opinion their customer service is poor and their service technicians are poorly trained to work on gas fireplaces.
