I tried to return meat, which I have bought for an event. I purchased the wrong type of meat. The night before. I was laughed at by manager 830am, and called names. I was told it was state law not to accept meat back. When I have returned meat before there with no problem. Called police, police stated that if its policy they dont have to take. Police talk to store and manager stated its not policy but he is not taking the meat back. I dont know what the reason I was lied to about state laws and policy but the disrespect, calling names and laughing in my face was inappropriate. Then he stated he is banning me from the store but I will never return to a place that treats its customers like this. And when I took meat to chef, the meat does smell like it is old.

To whom it may concern;
Happy Foods North grocery store return policy is:
• You must have a receipt, as long as your product is damaged or bad you will receive full credit for that item.
• If you do not have a receipt you will receive a full store credit on any item in the store of equal value.
• There are no refunds on perishable items if there is nothing wrong with the product.

In the case of Mrs., she was returning a beef roast and a pork roast and said there wasnothing wrong with the items, they just changed their minds for what they were preparing for dinner and purchased these items the day before.
We cannot give refunds just because someone changes their mind on what they want to prepare. The reason for that is, according to the health codes law perishable items have to be thrown away and destroyed. We cannot resale these items for various reasons. (ex. not knowing how the item was stored upon leaving the store). The meat manager and the store manager tried to explain to Mrs. that they health state laws, state that perishable items must be thrown away, Mrs. just would not understand why the store would not take the items back. We are dealing with food items not auto part items we cannot just put the items back on the shelf to be sold to the next person. If we gave every customer back there money because they changed their mind on what they wanted to eat, we would go out of business.

I am rejecting this response because: it was not a change of mind on why I did not want the meat, The meat was smelly as usual when you buy meat from the *** store, this is a norm but also was the incorrect kind of roast for the event. Other factors, I did have the receipt, also have returned meat to this same store couple of times prior (same reason of smelly meat) without any excuse or reasons of. On this particular day, When approach manager and meat manager I was told only it was against the law to return meat. Which is a fabrication. If not this mean the law has been broken plenty of times by this store . Also, police who arrive to the store on day of accident. The manager stated there is no policy or law, he is the manager and is just was not returning the meat. I’m a big fan of Happy Foods in Kansas City, MO, I purchase meat from this store a lot, the *** store is closer to home, occasionally stops here due to convenience, have purchase bad meat here on several occasions. Try not to buy meat here and make sure to cook it before the next day, if meat is purchase, Would most likely ignore this same issues and just not go back to this store and purchase any meat. But, inappropriate comments, attitude, and the making of funny faces from the Front store manager has caused me to go another route. As a customer it is an unworthy, unwanted, and very displeasing feeling altogether being mocked after losing money that you do not have. This store is convenient to lots of Wyandotte County Residents due to lack of grocery stores in the area. But, do we as people deserve the bad customer service and the mocking from management and workers. No! we do not. The meat manager was very composed and respectful, this kind of behavior is duly appreciated. I have went to all the chain of commands from this store, To meat manager, store manager, and "corporate manager" (other store manager, west branch), With no results all was ignored. A simple acknowledgement and apology is sufficient for most. At least acknowledge if nothing else. if this behavior continues from your managements, consequences will most likely become greater. Everyone does not like being walked on and mocked. Let alone waste of $35.00 or more in the process. But this experience was really disappointing and stressful. To band me from your store is an understatement, I will not even ride down *** when in need for groceries. Knowing my money can be took, afterwards I will be mocked, treated like *** and ignore as if this kind of treatment is OK. Businesses can do business as they please. Most business if produce was bad, staff is bad we can at least trust that higher management would display good customer service and train their staff accordingly. Especially if this happening more than once. No do not give everybody their money back, especially if you know you are losing a lot because of the same problem. But at least acknowledgment of the problem, fixing the problem, show some R E S P E CT and consistency w/ policies to your customers, goes a long way and i'm sure a lot smoothly. God bless!
