Happy Nails Reviews (2)

Review: This business has 37 similar complaints as mine on [redacted] so I know this is not an isolated incicdent but rather the way this store does business. Happy nails is a corporation but they say this store is a franchise so they have no control over how the store is runOn May 24, 2015 I took my girlfriend for pedicures for her birthday present. They offer 3 different priced pedicures and I selected the $22 one for the both of us. My friend went to pick out her nail color and while standing there the girl shoved her because she wanted her to get in the chair. The water was lucke warm at best and not swirling. there was no way to know if this was clean water or used by a previous customer but the nail clippers were just sitting there and NOT in disinfectant or wrapped in a sterilized package, and most likely not cleaned between me and the previous client(s). This is when they immediately start the upselling. Do you want a manicure, do you want a neck massage, do you want an eye brow wax. My feet were in the water less than 3 minutes when she took them out and started trimming my toenails. She asked if I wanted the exfoliating 5 minute leg massage so I said yes which was $10 more for the both of us. Right at this moment a woman walkd in and asked for a mani-pedi. My girl could not wait to get to that client so my 5 minute leg massage lasted approximately 60 seconds. she had my nail polish on so fast I was clearly getting the bums rush. When I told her we both wantd the flower painted on our toes she whispered it would be another $10 for us both. When I went up to pay and found our $22 pedicures came to $64 I complained to the manager/owner that I was rushed thru my service because she was in such a hurry to get to the next customer. She said "I'm sorry, we'll get you next time." There was no offer of reducing the bill. During the service the vietnames chatter is deafening, almost yelling, with girls eating their lunch and carrying their food thru the packed salon. The illegalities here are numerousDesired Settlement: I would like a refund of my $64 but I would also like someone to go there undercover on a Saturday and see for yourself the unsanitary water conditions, the unsterilized nail tools, the yelling, the food being carried in and out, and the constant upselling for every singl thing. When I said I wantedthe $22 pedicure I had a natural expectation of getting what I asked for. I don't expect to be badgered to death. On [redacted] one said the girl picked her nose while working on her feet! They overcharge!

Our Happy Nails have a policy for customer satisfactions for our services before they are leaving our shops. If they do not satisfy with the services with the right or good reasons they do not have to pay when they pay at the counter before they leave. If the customers have opinions or complaints we do investigation to solve problems accordingly in each case. Customer wrote there were 37 opinions (good and bad) in [redacted]. We are in this business at this location more than 10 years and we serve daily average about 70 customers/day. We assume there are all bad opinions in [redacted] then the percentage should be: 37/300,000 cases from our services. (Normally, customers satisfy with the services they tried to come back and did not try to post in [redacted] or others). All the services, Happy Nails have a price lists for each service. When the customer walks in the shop after we know what the customer need then we set up the service as first come – first serve. The price for service in price in basic, during the service the technician asks for any extra services if the customer needed or wanted. If the customer refuses, the service never performs and never charges. Happy Nails only charge for extra service per price list. The customer agreed for services as follows: 1. Basis for 2 pedicures (2 persons): $22.00 x 2 = $44.00Extra services: 2. Callus treatment: $5.00 x 2 = $10.00 (5 minutes massage included in basis $22.00 service. Customer made a wrong complaint for extra charge) 3. Flower design: $5.00 x 2 = $10.00Total charges: $64.00We, Happy Nails, are trying our best to serve customers’ satisfaction every day. We are really appreciated customer’s opinions to make our services better. We understand that our workers have very limited in English so we keep reminding them to behave and to speak in English as much as they can. Per these complaints really bad services, if they were truth we could not do business in United States of America. Please tell the truth as fact when writing your complaints or opinions. These were not truth for the customer’s complaints. She just made up the story for such terrible things in her complaints. I am really appreciated for your response in this case.Sincerely,Happy Nails & Spa([redacted])2800 N. Main Street, # 2084Santa Ana, CA 92705(714) 541-6135

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I clearly stated in my original complaint I asked for 2 pedicures at rhe $22 each price. I was agreeing to the $44.00 charge, that is not disputed. But as I also stated the relentless badgering for adding more and more services is mind boggling (please see all 37 [redacted] complaints for the same problem.) The idea of paying for a relaxing massage is completely lost on this proprieter. The staff yell at each other, talk loudly, eat food and CONSTANTLY harrass you for more and more charges regardless of the fact that I have ALREADY told them what I want and have agreed to pay the $44.00. The word RELAXING pedicure absolutely DOES NOT exist at Happy Nails. In their response, Happy Nails claims the 5 minute massage is included in the $22 price and that is exactly what I am trying to tell them..my massage was exactly 60 seconds because another customer had come in and my girl wanted to get to her first.I paid extra for the exfoliation which is an outrageous overcharge for $5.00 when she put it on and took it off in the same motion.I DID COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER WHEN I WENT TO PAY AND HER RESPONSE WAS 'SORRY ABOUT THAT, WE'LL CATCH YOU NEXT TIME."This is celarly a business who has been caught with their hand in the cookie jar and say none of this happened. So if none of it were true, as they claim, why would I take my time to perjure myself and make a formal complaint. All you have to do to see who is telling the truth here is to go to [redacted] and see all 37 similar complaints of badgering upselling. The difference that I am trying to make is that I agreed to a $22.00 massage X 2 and I did NOT GET WHAT I PAID FOR. I agreed to the $5 for the flower and the $5 for the exfoliant which is an insult in my opinion. The instruments she used did not appear to be clean, the water was nor warm and it was a very disturbing experience. I think it is clear I am telling the truth and I stand by my original statements. This place is a disgrace to the city of Tustin and should be throughly investigated.

After careful review this complaint date which the customer indicated in her complaint:1. The date 5/21/2015: I did not work there at a manager of the store every Sunday. It was Sunday and my husband was a reception desk at that time. She said she talked to a woman name [redacted] (manager). I am [redacted], not [redacted]. We have a record to show for this date and my name is not [redacted].2. I did not find any record of this customer came to my shop on 5/24/2015. Maybe she was at another store. We are in Santa Ana city (not in Tustin which she wrote in her 2nd resolution)3. When I replied in my 1st time, I was assured that the performance of all Happy Nails have a right when asking customers for more services and we are confidence that we do the right work when asking customer for options on services. We are Happy Nails with a policy that if the customers do not satisfy with the services for a right or good reason, they do not have to pay for services.Best regards,Happy Nails and Spa of Main Place2800 N. Review: I went into the salon on 9/15/2013 and ordered eyelash extensions. The job was done fairly quickly where in the past it has taken some time. The next day at work I felt my false eyelashes moving and could see them starting to come out. I know not to touch them or wash them for that matter and followed all directions. By the end of Monday night (9/16/2013) I found myself with wide spaces within my eyelashes so I had to take the rest out. While taking the eyelashes out it was extremely easy where in the past I had to use considerable force and [redacted] I called the salon the next day and left a detailed message on the machine. I called back Wednesday to follow up on my message and [redacted] stated that she did not receive my message but indicated I should come in to talk to her. So I went in on Thursday (9/19/2013) and she told me she would not refund my money because a day or two has passed by. She offered to give me $12 back. This is unacceptable and I walked out feeling offended that she would not stand behind her product.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $25. She can keep the $5 tip I already gave her.

Response:

I'm [redacted] who did [redacted] eyelash extensions on 9/15/2013. I'd like to respond tothe complaint: First, the type of eyelash extensions we do in the salon cost $25.00 not 200.00 (individual eyelash extentions), so we don't give a guarantee to the product. How last they are just depends on the clients (not exceed water, oil, powder on eyelash extentions), don't rub your eyes, don't sleep with face down,....) thats all I tell the customers before doing the eyelash extensions. Second, if the customer is allergic to the supply just first few hours after getting them done, we will take them off and refund whole amount of money ($25). Third, if the false eyelashes fall off few days in the first week after getting them done, we will retouch or redo free for the customer. Finally this time [redacted] had the above situation. We felt bad, said sorry for her, and offered to redo it free for her or give her $12 back because the rest I used for the supply and the salons fee, but she didn't want to

I think just one time happened by accident made [redacted] forgot how nice we treated her how patient we served her and how many times she were satisfied with our services,, I will give back to her $5 more (tip that she gave me) and bye bye.

Thank you,

Bye
