Dear [redacted] ***, MrSteve P [redacted] has been un-truthful in his reply The contract is between myself, my husband and SteveFirst of all he has no idea what the other contractors told us in regards to the job at hand We were the ones who showed him the dip in the floor in the left front of the hearth at the fireplace He said that the only way to make the floor perfect would be to re-lay the cement slab; however, he said to us that our job would be no problem at all they would skim coat the floor We never said we can't afford a new slab! At no point did he give us this "choice" as he puts it! And he NEVER said they would do the best they could without floor preparation, they skim coated it just as he said they wouldWhen the hired contractor contacted me on the first day, both my husband and I spoke to him and he said he had laid a lot of cement...he said "I don't think you want to lay a whole new floor do you?" and went on to say "I think we are going to be OK!" and he said he would lay extra cement at that problem spot in front of the fireplace Our major problem with Har-Pat was not the leveling of the floor, it was the damage to the wood during installation In fact when Steve came out the first time he said time and time again how level the floor was We finally said that the floor leveling is not our issue and showed him the damaged wood along with the poorly installed wood where it was evident that they rushed to get done At that point Steve assured us that planks could be "popped up" and replaced Another issue was the amount of wood putty used, not only for some damaged planks but also in between planks that were laid inconsistently When they came back to the damaged planks is when they destroyed the leveled floor by pulling up planks that were cemented down and not refilling what was gouged outSteve's accountant *** suggested a credit to hire someone to replace the planks that still have issues This is unacceptable as their negligence caused the situation at hand We need to hire someone to pull up all the cemented floors and NOW we have to purchase a new slab on top of itSteve P [redacted] needs to take responsibility for this shoddy job! Dear [redacted],
Mr. Steve P[redacted] has been un-truthful in his reply.  The contract is between myself, my husband and Steve.. First of all he has no idea what the other contractors told us in regards to the job at hand.
We were the ones who showed him the dip in the floor in the left front of the hearth at the fireplace.  He said that the only way to make the floor perfect would be to re-lay the cement slab; however, he said to us that our job would be no problem at all they would skim coat the floor.  We never said we can't afford a new slab!  At no point did he give us this "choice" as he puts it! And he NEVER said they would do the best they could without floor preparation, they skim coated it just as he said they would.
When the hired contractor contacted me on the first day, both my husband and I spoke to him and he said he had laid a lot of cement...he said "I don't think you want to lay a whole new floor do you?" and went on to say "I think we are going to be OK!"  and he said he would lay extra cement at that problem spot in front of the fireplace.
Our major problem with Har-Pat was not the leveling of the floor, it was the damage to the wood during installation.  In fact when Steve came out the first time he said time and time again how level the floor was.  We finally said that the floor leveling is not our issue and showed him the damaged wood along with the poorly installed wood where it was evident that they rushed to get done.  At that point Steve assured us that planks could be "popped up" and replaced.  Another issue was the amount of wood putty used, not only for some damaged planks but also in between planks that were laid inconsistently.
When they came back to re-do the damaged planks is when they destroyed the leveled floor by pulling up planks that were cemented down and not refilling what was gouged out.
Steve's accountant [redacted] suggested a 500.00 credit to hire someone to replace the planks that still have issues.  This is unacceptable as their negligence caused the situation at hand.  We need to hire someone to pull up all the cemented floors and NOW we have to purchase a new slab on top of it.
Steve P[redacted] needs to take responsibility for this shoddy job!  I want a refund!

Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: Hired Har-Pat Flooring Impressed with the service by the owner & website (good old fashioned commitment to customer service, nothing to loose we are bonded and insured...hardwood sales & providing you with the installation craftsmanship you can rely on for years...provide floor of your dreams or we can provide precision installation...find the beautiful floor you want & the quality you deserve etc...)prior to hiring we told The owner hat the laminate floor we had was separating and we had areas that we're not level he said it would not be a problem he would skim coat the areas. 1st day 4/21/14 installer called me at work saying there were big problems that he had to go to the store several times to get more cement and he said he was paid by the square foot not hourly. He showed me the area by the fireplace where the cement had needed to be built up. He said he didn't think we would want new concrete poured and said he thought the wood would lay nicely he would lay the glue thicker in that spot I agreed. Tuesday 4/22-4/23 wood installed & I witnessed wood being cut in living room sawdust flying everywhere no Drop cloths used! Thursday 4/24 was the day they "cleaned up" it was a mess! Once WE cleaned we saw the shoddy installation deep gauges cracked wood deep scratches glue on surface gapped wood crooked wood etc but the floor was nice & level. Showed Owner & he came on the day of reWork. When they were finished I showed areas that were not fixed then Owner said the wood had manufacturer defects! The floor is worse now & uneven in spots that were not prior wood putty used in excess looks awful dry glue splits gauges new floor looks old & abused. Kitchen wood not staggered evident that it was a rush job. Owner came yesterday & we told him we want our money back due to shoddy work he stormed off said we could keep his money. This has been a awful & so disappointing. This was suppose to be a home improvement! We should not have to be stuck with this shoddy installation!Desired Settlement: Due to the poor craftsmanship and none customer support by the owner we would like our money back so we can hire another contractor to replace these floors properly $2397.50 since Steve said the wood had manufacture defects I contacted Shaw and they said he could make a claim and they would investigate. The website says bonded and insured you have nothing to lose when hiring Har-Pat!
