Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2015/06/08) */
To whom it may concern,
The guest in question stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, arriving on 05/22/2015 and departing on 05/24/2015.
The guest contacted our Director of rooms on 05/27/2015 to express his concerns around the rash on...

his legs. He believed it to be the result of the bed bugs.
Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs removed room 237 from inventory on 05/27/2015 until it could be properly inspected by a licensed third party entity on 05/28/2015. This room was rented to two guests between 05/24/2015 and 05/27/2015, before allegations that insects were present. Neither of these two guests complained of any insects related issues with room 237 on these dates.
On 05/28/2015 Ecolab's Pest Elimination Division was contacted to inspect and assess room 237 for insects. No bed bugs were detected in room 237. The attached report substantiates the findings.
While we are sympathetic to the guest's situation, we have done our due diligence to be sure that the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs is in no way responsible for this guest's injury.
Regard,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 9, 2015/06/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I spoke with [redacted] (director of rooms). He was very courteous and apologized for not getting back to me right away, as he had jury duty. However, the first woman I left a message with should have called me back during his absence. I spoke with [redacted] on Sat AM 5/30/15, and he told me of Ecolab's findings. I still feel that I was bitten by something while I was there that weekend. As a compromise, [redacted] agreed to credit me for 1 of the 2 nights, to which I was satisfied with. He credited me $389.33 on 5/30/15. However, then I was charged $389.33 the same day. I called [redacted] and told him, so he forwarded the issue to the Hard Rock Hotels accounting department. I did not hear back, so my wife called and spoke with someone from accounting on 6/17/15. They said [redacted] has still been in jury duty. They said they credited our account again, and it will go through in a few business days.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/04/14) */
To whom it may concern,
The guest in question stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, arriving on 03/25/2016 and departing on 03/27/2016.
The guest contacted Hard Rock International Corporate Office on 03/29/2016 to express her concerns...

around the rash on her body. She indicated that her doctor had confirmed that the rash was a result of scabies and that she believed she came into contact with scabies at Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs in room 346.
Room 346 was rented to guests on 03/28/2016 and 03/29/2016 and was serviced by Housekeeping staff on both days, without incident to guest or employee.
Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs removed room 346 from inventory on 03/30/2016, upon notice from Hard Rock International Corporate Office, that the guest had indicated a problem.
On 03/30/2016 an inspection was conducted for room 346, by a licensed third party entity. Ecolab's Pest Elimination Division was contacted to inspect and assess room 346 for pests. The results clearly show that no pest activity was detected in room 346. No pest elimination measures were taken. The attached report substantiates these findings.
We have continued to rent room 346 without incident since the inspection deemed the room to be free of pests.
The guest was contacted by our Director of Rooms on 04/01/2016. He explained the findings and sent Ecolab's official report to the guest. She remained unwilling to accept the official findings.
While we are sympathetic to the guest's situation, we have done our due diligence to be sure that the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs is in no way responsible for this guest's injury.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/04/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I refuse to take their response because they make it out as it didn't happen in their hotel. Although their Ecolab results show different, other members of the party that stayed in the room had similar bites as mine.
Hard Rock Hotel, claims that there was no way that happened at their hotel, and the scabies was a result of a different place. But how do you explain four people that live in different parts of the country, that came together at this hotel, just randomly get a rash that results as scabies when the only common place shared was this hotel. If it wasn't the room maybe their towels could have spread it.
Once again, as mentioned various times - I had no bites or a rash previous to my arrival that Friday. The first time any signs of a rash appeared was the next day, Saturday, after sleeping in the room. I was not the only person with bites/rash, as other members also noticed them on themselves but disregard it as a possible spider bite.
It became eminent that it wasn't a simple bug bite but much more as the intensity of the rash worsen by night and made it impossible to rest, which is why a doctor visit was a must the following day.

Looking at complaints online, I'm not the first to experience such issue and it is ludicrous the hotel is trying to wash their hands of any responsibility related to the issue.
I also will not accept this response because this is a health issue that affected me and obviously has affected others and this place should be held accountable.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2016/04/22) */
While we are sympathetic to this guest's plight we take no responsibility for her injuries. We have gone above and beyond the standard of due diligence to prove, through a third party vendor, that this guest is mistaken about where she contracted scabies. I have submitted this official report.
The guests accusation that others have contracted scabies from Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, is entirely false.
