Review: Hardesty Roofing was contracted to install a [redacted] roof on my residence. When pieces started falling off of the roof, I called "Hardesty" and they sent a man to inspect and they concluded that it was a product that [redacted] had issues with because it was inferior and was deterriorating. They took all of the shingles that I had collected and helped make a claim with [redacted],

saying that they knew that [redacted] had been paying on similar claims. The response from [redacted] was that the roofing material had been improperly installed. Since then, several more shingles have fallen off and with most of them ( like the first ones ) it is plain to see that they cracked at the location of being nailed. [redacted] also indicated that the installation took place when the temperature was too cold. As we go through cooling and heating cycles, the broken shingles continue to loosen and fall off.Desired Settlement: The only way to know which shingles are broken, is to inspect each individual shingle. And then there is still the problem of an inferior product that will continue to deterriorate.

Therefore the whole roof needs to be redone with a proper product.

Review: We hired the roofing company to inspect our roof, do repairs, power wash and seal the roof and deck.

We contracted the company in April of 2013. There were many excuses as to why the job could not be completed, from a broken truck, ( twice that was an excuse), a variety of other reasons were used along the way. Then random subcontractors would show up to our house un announced and start spraying and working with chemicals and we had no idea. We have multiple animals and they didn't care they just started spraying the roof.

We still have clips on our roof and the work was never finished. After a year+ they have tried to contact us to finish , which is absolutely ridiculous.

My husband and I are both in the service industry and this is completely unacceptable behavior from any company.Desired Settlement: At this point we do not want this company on our property and feel that we should not pay them a dime, until we have another roofing company come out and assess what will need to be done from here.

Response:

As far as the complaint is concerned the customer is correct that the original contract was signed in April 2013. During that time frame we did run into several stumbling blocks with our cedar restoration side of this business. This included a maintenance issue with our truck and a separate maintenance issue with our pumping system used to spray chemicals/oil. Additionally, we had to handle some employee related issues to handle internally, which effected the ability to timely complete this work.

The work in question was to restore the main house and the deck. This is a 3 step process that includes a wash, repairs, and a final oil treatment. All 3 steps were completed on the deck and the 1st two steps on the house. At one point [redacted] refused to answer any questions or calls from us to complete this work and handed the responsibility to her husband. In August, several attempts were made to reach [redacted] (and messages left) to finish the work and we even offered to re-wash the roof as a courtesy for the extended delay. When no response was received, we discounted the original quote/invoice for work that was not completed and for the extended time delay, and we sent them a final invoice (Originially $3,220, invoice $2,500).

Respectfully,

Hardesty Roofing

Review: I contracted Hardesty roofing to complete 2 jobs. One residential, the second commercial. I had the contractor repllace a few shingles on the roof of my home as well as the installation of gutter guards. The job for the shingle replacement was completed in a a reasonable time, with adequate workmanship.

However, the request to complete preventative repairs to the commercial roof were both inadequate and ineffective. The fix they proposed and completed to prevent building flooding was a dismal failure. The work was completed at or around August 8, 2015. On September 10, a hard rain resulted in massive torrential downpours inside the building in the same location that the roof was allegedly repaired by Hardesty. The work was a dismal failure and the subsequent damage to the building was substantial. I paid 725.00 for work which in no way addressed the problem and frankly may well have exacerbated the problem. They returned to my building to again assess the roof, but discussions revealed very plainly, that the knowledge base to address our roofing concerns just did not exist. This company seem incompetent in the area of commercial roofing, thought they present themselves as a knowledgeable and experienced resource.

Additionally there were profound service issues in the completion of the installation of gutter guards on my residence. Original contract was returned on 07/10.15. I was told they were busy and the job would be completed in two to three weeks.

Timeline:

Aug 10th, told they would be at my home Aug 12th with good weather, no show-no rain

Told they would be there Aug 13th , no show no rain

Aug 13th, told they would be there August 21st, no show, no rain

Called Aug 28 for scheduling...no return phone call

Showed up without notice, August 31, despite no completion, presented a bill.

Finally completed the job on Sept 1

Hardesty failed to return phone calls, and stated repeatedly they had no contact or control over their crew.Desired Settlement: I want 100% reimbursement for the failed commercial job. The lack of addressing the presented problem ultimately caused nearly 2000.00 dollars in damages.

I would like a discount of 20% for the failure to complete the gutter job in a timely or professional manner. Because of the lack of integrity in completing the job when promised on numerous dates, I was forced to repeatedly cancel and reschedule other work slated for completion at my home.

Response:

Hi, In response to Mrs. [redacted] complaint, we will begin by addressing the commercial repair as noted in her letter. Our company did exactly what was proposed and signed for by the customer. Mrs. [redacted] husband walked the roof with our Senior Estimator to review the completed repair, which was properly completed according to the scope of work in the contract. During this time Mr. [redacted] stepped through the built in gutter creating a hole that is causing the new leak referred to in her letter. We provided an estimate to repair this issue, however they did not accept, because they thought we should fix this for free. As the work has been completed, and the new leak was not a result of our work, we are not in a position to offer a refund for this service. In response to the additional complaint regarding the gutter guard installation. On 7/13 we received the signed contract, but the customer advised that she wanted to wait a couple weeks before beginning the project. Our lead time for all repairs at that time was approximately 3-4 weeks anyway. We advised the customer that we would start the work on 8/13, but was actually able to start a day earlier on the 12th. The gutter guard portion of the work was originally scheduled via phone for 8/21, but we did have some communication issues with are crew and acknowledge that fact. We did keep in contact with Mrs. [redacted] to advise of these schedule changes (via phone and email). In the end, the work was to take place on 9/2, but the customer agreed that we could come before then if something became available. An appointment became available on 8/31, and as agreed we went out to finish the remaining portion of the contract, but had to return on 9/1 to completely finish the work. We do realize that there were some scheduling issues for part of the job, and we certainly apologize for that, but the work has been completed with a high quality of workmanship. We feel that any discussion regarding a discount should have been discussed prior to starting/finishing the work. This is the first we have heard about this. In addition, the customer has not paid the $3,000 she owes us for work completed. The invoice has been outstanding since 9/1 (although we invoiced it on 8/31, 1 day too early). Respectfully, [redacted]

Review: This is my second complaint with Revdex.com re: Hardesty Roofing. December 2015 my roof started leaking in 6 spots higher up on the roof and the whole fascia board along the back side of the house was soaked along with the plywood that meets the fascia board. I called Hardesty Roofing on Dec 23rd and Brett B[redacted] came out on Jan 4th to look at the areas and thought the gutters were the issues for the leaks and said that I should have the gutters taken off because of the debris getting behind the gutter guards was causing the damage to the fascia board. My husband took the gutter guards off and there was no debris in the gutters to be causing the fascia to be soaked. I called Brett B[redacted] back on Jan 3rd to let him know that the roof was still leaking. I never received a call back so I called [redacted] to let him know that the fascia board was still getting wet and the plywood where the starter row of shakes was by that fascia board was also leaking and turning black. Dale L[redacted] called me and said that we need to stop patching your roof and he was going to come out and look at the issues and provide an es[redacted]ate for a whole new roof. DJ came out to my house later that morning on Jan 5th and said you need a new roof. DJ came up into the attic and looked over the roof and said he would get with [redacted] Hardesty about the issues I have been having and provide an es[redacted]ate to have the roof replaced. On Feb 8th, DJ called me back and said nothing about the roof es[redacted]ate, he immediately stated that he and [redacted] Hardesty talked about my issues and they both agreed that the leaks were caused by the gutters. I asked that [redacted] Hardesty come out to the house to look at this roof. Today I called Hardesty and [redacted] is not coming out and Hardesty is NOT going to fix the issues. They said they would give an es[redacted]ate for a new roof with no discount. I want my money back! This roof is leaking and needs to be replaced like it should have been when they first looked at it. They are scam artists.Desired Settlement: WANT MY MONEY BACK!! I am floored that Hardesty Roofing has zero concern over this roof. A roof they stated had 5-7 yrs left however is still leaking, have shakes falling off as of this AM and other areas have been identified as problematic. It is outrageous that Hardesty Roofing has patched my roof for 9 months and now conveniently the roof has more issues, they have decided it isn’t their problem to fix or even look at. They are scam artists. They took five thousand dollars of my money and my roof is in worse shape. [redacted] Hardesty is a horrible business owner who could care-less about his customers and more so the lack of experience and quality of work his employees perform. They should have replaced the roof after numbers of issues started arising last year but they took my money and kept patching. This company needs to be taken off of the Revdex.com list and I will be exposing Hardesty Roofing to all known sources before they scam another company or individual.
