Harley Davidson of Southampton Reviews (1)

Safty issues with a Motorcyclr I purchased.Went to Southampton Harley to look at a 2003 HD FXD that was an internet spec. When I went to tst drive the bike the battery was dead. Sales rep put battery out of the bike next to it for test drive. Test drove vechicle and returned. This was in December 2012. Upon returning I told them that the front brake had a pulsation in it. They told me they rebuilt the master cyl before I picked it up. I road the bike home and found the pulsation was still there. I called back and they came to my house and picked up my bike brought to their shop for repairs. Aroun d the 1st of Ja. 2013 they brougt my bike back. Took for a short ride and found pulsation to be gone. I live in the woods and the snow never cleared until around Easter. Took my bike for it first real ride and one of my friends while looking at my bike tells me my rear tire is cupped and he was right. When I look the bike over I tried be sure I wasn't going to need any tires for this year and the treads on the rear appeared to have about 50% left and the front looked like it was fairly new. When I went to HD Dealer and told them about this issue I had only 1500 miles on the bike since I purchased it. I asked them to address this issue for me since it was such a short time of riding this season. I was told that the front tire was put on the bike in Sept of 2012 and that I cupped it in this short amount of mileage. From an air pressure issue. The back tire they said was used and they would even look at it. The [redacted] sid they would have never put n inspection sticker on this bike with tires like that.I resently went and purchased 2 tires for my bike which cost around $350.00 to have installed because they wouldn't fix it and make it safe.I didn't have the money to have them put on at this time and had planned to have them put on before my sticker ran out.Well the end of May came and I didn't have the money still so I decided to see if they would put a sticker on it. They did which is what I suspected they would do. Yesterda June 9 2013 I got stuck in RI with a dead battery. I contacted the [redacted] this A.M. and explained this to him and asked that they replace my tires and battery, he told me that was not going to happen. I told him at that point I would be filing a complaint with the Mass. Regitry of Motor Vechicles. That was the end of our conversation.I have an extended warranty on this bike that I purchesed at the time of sale. I contacted these folks this morning and found out that they tried to run the Warped Rotor though the warrenty co.This was not a cost my warrenty co should incurr. The bike had these problems before I ever purchased a Warranty.I can't help but feel that I and many other customers are getting sold unserviced and unsafe bikes in the dealers effort to lower his uused bike reair costs. I have been in the automotive business for a good part of my life and I can't help but feel that this dealer is selling used bikes without service and praying they don't come back and if they do we will sell the customer a warranty to lower our cost in that event. At this time I have contacted Harley Davidson and filed a Complaint. They can do nothing for me since the dealships are independently owned and operated but that it will get passed on to the area rep. I have also contacted the Registry and I am waiting for a call back to file a complaint with them about the sticker issue.I will also be filing a suit in sall claims court for the repairs.Just for information purposes I purchased the bike with 32432 miles on Dec 6 according to the Warranty paperwork and as of today June 10 2013 it has under 35000 miles. I went out to check but odometer will not light up due to no battery voltage. Desired SettlementI would like to be reimbursed for my tires and their installation I bought them because I felt I had no recourse and this is an on going issue with many customers and this dealership. I have not done this yet due to finances. I would also like a new battery for my bike they should have replaced it to begin with when they found out it was dead the day I tested the bike. The [redacted] told me they do a safty inspection on all their used bikes but that obviously doesn't work if you don't fix them. This is a perfect example of tBusiness' Initial Response We tried to work with [redacted] by inspecting the bike every time he made a claim that it was not right, we never found anything wrong. He has ridden the bike for over 2,500 miles and the tires and battery are items that are regular maintenance items and will ware over time, and needs to be replaced and should be maintained to prevent problems when stored outside in winter and should be plugged into a battery tender every day. We feel bad that he feels that we did not do all we could. ThanksConsumer's Final Response Got the battery charged enough to get the mileage as of today June 11 2013. 34,465 miles.
