Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: It is untrue, as the company states in its written response, that we did not contact DiGiorgi again to allege water damage until After the roof was installed, we called the company during the winter of 2013/to report moisture intrusion and they came to the house removed an ice dam along the back of the houseI am also rejecting this response because the company seems to misunderstand the nature of the complaintWe understand how ice dams form and don't need an education on the processOur complaint stems from advice by DiGiorgi at point of sale that we did not need a ridgevent due to the fact that our roof had soffit ventsThis was poor advice and contributed to the extent of the ice dam formation and resultant water damageThe incorrect installation of the gutter further contributed to resultant damageAlso, to-date, the company has not provided an inventory, as requested, of the work done to fix our gutterThe company's response does not address the concerns put forth Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Sincerely, [redacted] i'm sorry buttheir office scheduled the job to be doneand said they would be there last week and never showed up.when isigned the contract on july the salesman told me they would be here in a couple of weeks amonth and a half later after they told me they would be here they never showed up also they never called or notified me in any way that they would;nt be hereas we have numerous means of communications no attempt was made to notify me so I waited patiently for a week to no avail in excuseable very unprofessionable.thank you

We acknowledge that the stains exist and as stated, were the result of ice damming and not from any defect in the roof and will be repaired at no cost to Mr*** ***. We also agree that it's been a considerable amount of time since our initial inspection, however be advised that
we don't do that type of work and consequently the repair will be done by a local painter contractor. Accordingly we have contacted our painter again and asked that he prioritize the repair. We will be following up with our painter to assure he gets to the repair soon.Thank you

I regret that the customer has decided to cancel the gutter installation. The time frame for the installation was well within the stipulated lead time given upon signing of the contract. In an attempt to schedule the installation we called on Thursday 9/10, and at that time were asked by the
customers daughter to cancel the job and return the deposit. Accordingly a check is being processed and will be mailed no later than tomorrow, 9/ Thank you

We had our Installation manager Tom C*** out to the house on October 5th He reported that the gutter was properly installed and no adjustments were needed.Mark D*** our sales consultant who visited with *** * *** *** back in states: First I would like to say that to recall a conversation that took place four or five years ago is not practicalSecondly house ventilation is not one feature , it is a combination of ventilation practicesI always discuss all the features and the ventilation processI discuss house ventilation over a hundred times a year, for me to have allegedly said that if a house has soffit vents then you don't need a ridge vent simply did not happenI may have said that without lower eave intake a ridgevent is not very effective towards it's full potentialalso one has to keep in mind that if the attic ventilation is not proper a ridgevent with a perfect scenario will not solve one's ice damming problems

In 2012 we were contacted by [redacted] to install a new roof and a section of gutter at their home and we completed the work in early 2013. to the best of my knowledge we were not contacted by them concerning any problems with the installation until 2017. We were contacted for an...

entry door consultation  in 2014 and a window consultation in 2016 but again not for any issues concerning the roofing project. We were contacted in 2017 concerning wood rot on the exterior of the home that possibly could be attributed to water leaking into their home or behind the siding (we did not install siding on the home) from an apparent ice dam. Ice damming and water leaking into a building or in this case behind the siding is hard to accept, understand, and at times to even explain. However the internet has several articles and explanations on a subject that has gained much attention from the winter of 2011 and again in 2015. you will find studies from Universities and insurance companies but the best one that I have seen is a video complete with illustrations from the [redacted]. Ice damming occurs when ice forms on roofs and does not allow the water from melting snow to run off of the roof. Roofing shingles are not water proof there design is to shed water, they do not prevent pooling water from penetrating into a building or behind siding. Whatever the case ice damming is certainly not caused by gutters of any kind or of any installation method. As all studies show ice damming is caused by heat loss into the attic in conjunction with extreme weather conditions. Ice damming occurs and has occurred on homes with any type of gutter system or on homes with no gutters at all at an equal rate. Furthermore since there was no immediate sign of any leaking into the building or behind the siding and the wood rot was only discovered while preparing for painting the conditions that caused the rotted wood easily could have been years in the making and not only since the 2013 roof replacement.

I am rejecting this response because: It is untrue, as the company states in its written response, that we did not contact DiGiorgi again to allege water damage until 2017. After the roof was installed, we called the company during the winter of 2013/2014 to report moisture intrusion and they came to the house removed an ice dam along the back of the house. I am also rejecting this response because the company seems to misunderstand the nature of the complaint. We understand how ice dams form and don't need an education on the process. Our complaint stems from advice by DiGiorgi at point of sale that we did not need a ridgevent due to the fact that our roof had soffit vents. This was poor advice and contributed to the extent of the ice dam formation and resultant water damage. The incorrect installation of the gutter further contributed to resultant damage. Also, to-date, the company has not provided an inventory, as requested, of the work done to fix our gutter. The company's response does not address the concerns put forth.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
