Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: [Your Answer Here] Clearly when l called Karl's l have heat in my house the only problem was that the boiler goes off every two or three days so the technician told me in order to fixed that l have to bled the linesToday when l called Karl's main office the lady told me that the technician wrote in his report that he bled the three zone of the boiler and low temperature down, he never did that never bled the boiler zone,he said it wasn't necessarily and useless, because l most changed three parts of the boiler. So he did nothing he left the boiler the same way it was and told me to fixed will cost me $and charged me with $for the diagnostic." He didn't fixed " "he charged me for the wrong diagnostic" .And l'm not agree to anything with a Karl's secretary do to she didn't wants me to talk with the supervisor and she was very um polite In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: [Your Answer Here] The plumbers sent did, in fact, state to my son that they were going to [redacted] to pick up a saw to cut the door frame and that was before it was discovered that there was a dent in the tub Yes, I did authorize them to pick up a new tub from a local supply store when I was present But there is no way that it takes hours to do this and install a tub when the demolition was already done, the contractor set everything up for the new install and there were men present to complete the work In fact, there was no need for a saw and one was never used So there were times when the men left I only authorized them to pick up the tub and nothing else.I never stated I witnessed the men sitting idly in their truck The witness who told me that he witnessed this is credible and would have no reason to lie I can and have provided his telephone number to Revdex.com and encourage contactHe stated to me that the labor should not have been more than $since he had did most of the preparation for the tub to be put in In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: Hi [redacted] , I just spoke to you about my complaint with Karl’s plumbing. My complaint number is #Karl’s plumbing has answered my last response to the by stating “We have already stated that we will complete the work but payment in full must be made at time of completion”There has never been any question about paying Karl’s in full at the time of completion Of course I will do that and never said otherwise It is a term of the contractThe issue here is that Karl’s plumbing has demanded payment of $4000of the remaining $balance upon completion of two of three apartments. And then another payment of the remaining balance of $after the completion of the third apartment Or alternatively all three apartments must be ready for completion before they come back to finish any workThe contract states that 50% is due upon the commencement of work and 50% at the completion of workI have already paid 83% ($25,000) of the $30,contract amount even though I was not obligated to by contract and in spite of the fact there is substantial work (more than $5000) remaining to be doneI made the payment because Karl’s promised to honor their agreement with me to come back and finish each apartment as they became available for the work to be completed. When the first apartment was ready for completion they demanded that two apartments had to be ready. Then when two apartments were ready they demanded that that all three be ready before they come backI want Karl’s to agree to come back and completely finish the first and second floor apartments and then come back to finish the basement apartment when it is ready. This was always the understanding that was agreed to and I want Karl’s to honor itWhen Karl’s has completed the work in all three apartments as per the contract and in the phases as agreed, I will be happy to pay the balance of $5,Thank you,John Godwin In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above Sincerely, John Godwin

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
Unfortunately, I no longer trust in your businessEven in trying to resolve the overpricing, Karl's brought up a matter that would have gone unnoticed, not all the piping replaced as I was billed. All the replacement parts were kept from when the work was done and there is no pipingCloser look at the pipes, clearly they are the originalsThe only change was the trap.

The customer is not honoring his contractthere have been extreme delays on this project, now the customer wants us to complete the work but wait until he collects rent from the tenants before he pays us the balance due

Pat M*** had a conversation with MsCarpenter - she was still not satisfied with our responses We feel since our pricing was fair and she was quoted and approved the work prior to the work being done we will not be offering a refund, however, we will offer MsCarpenter $credit towards her next service call

I want Karl’s to agree to come back and completely finish the first and second floor apartments and then come back to finish the basement apartment when it is ready. This was always the understanding that was agreed to and I want Karl’s to honor it. - [redacted] statement - Our response, as per the attached it does not state this work was to be done in sections, nor did we expect this job to drag out for seven months, futhermore we will gladly do the work when we can complete it "all at once"

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

In regards to the issue of overcharging, which is my original and sole complaint toward Karl’s Plumbing, they responded with two false statements. The first false statement is Karl’s response toward the conversation between Office Manager Pat B[redacted] and the customer [redacted] in the matter of being overcharged (cut & copied from Karl's response):‘...At a later time the customer called me Pat B[redacted] the office manager stating our tech did not replace the piping under the sink …’Where does this claim stem from? Is the Office Manager making an admittance that he did not replace the piping? Has the tech reused my original piping and only change the trap out with the brass? To my knowledge, the work was completed and on face value that new piping replaced the old.The conversation I had did not involve any mention of the works completion but the severity of being overcharged.  The second false statement concerns the conversation my friend had with Pat M[redacted] in regards to the overcharged bill (cut & copied from Karl’s response):‘...he called and spoke to our foreman Pat M[redacted] who explained what we did  and the cost.  He made no issue with our explanation about the work done or the charges when he spoke to Pat M[redacted].  We considered this matter settled after that.’In fact, not only did he, (my friend) make issue over the charges when he spoke with Pat M[redacted], he was told by Pat M[redacted] that the matter would be looked into. Pat M[redacted] ended the conversation stating he would call (my friend helping me settle the matter), back. Still, there has been no such phone call. Both false statements made by Karl’s can be proven false, with evidence by the customer [redacted]. Karl's response avoids giving any explanation on how the work, done in under one hour and shown in the pictures, can amount to $816.56.The matter will not be settled until a fair reimbursement has been made.In addition, due to Karl’s admittance and upon re-examining the photo’s included by Karl's, the question arises if new piping was used as they claim or if, as it appears to seem in the picture, the old piping was reused.

On January **, 2016 - [redacted] called with a "no heat" call. Our standard procedure is to advise the potential customer of our diagnostic charge. We told [redacted] his diagnostic charge would be $275.00..  [redacted] agreed to this charge.  Upon arrival, our technician checked the...

boiler. he adjusted the temp on high limit from 205 degrees to 215 degrees.  Our technician also bled the zones (please see the attached).  Our technician noted that certain boiler controls should be replaced and provided a "quote" of $1,350.00 to replace the pressure reducing valve, high limit and boiler gauge.  [redacted] had heat upon our departure.  [redacted] paid the $275.00.This morning we received a call from [redacted] he stated, that three days after we were there he had to go down and reset the boiler and had to do so every two or three days, we explained to him that he was quoted a price to replace parts that are needed for his boiler to work properly.  [redacted] stated that on Monday, February *, 2016 he had to call another "plumber" in and they bled the lines and only charged him $150.00 and that the boiler has been fine for three days,  We asked [redacted] if he would forward us the invoice that he was given from the NYC licensed "MASTER PLUMBER" that we would review it and discuss compensating him.  [redacted] stated that he did not have an invoice.  Karl's Plumbing has done nothing wrong. He was quoted a price for a diagnostic service call, we bled his zones and adjusted his high limit.   He was quoted a price to repair his boiler. He had heat upon our departure.  It is clearly stated on our technicians work ticket what was done and what was quoted..  Again, if [redacted] would present to us a valid invoice from a NYC licensed Master Plumber we will gladly discuss some form of compensation.Sincerely,Karl's Plumbing & HeatingPat B[redacted]Office Manager

In response to [redacted]’s complaint. Karl’s was called to install the customer’s purchased bathtub. We quoted her $275.00 per hour for two men with “no” definitive completion time given. Once onsite and we inspected the tub, we found the tub was cracked. With the customer’s knowledge and...

permission we went to [redacted] and purchased another tub to install. We completed the installation of the tub. To answer the complaints, first, it was [redacted]’s son that stated we told him we were going to [redacted] to purchase a saw, we had no such conversation. As stated previously we went to [redacted] which is located in [redacted] to purchase a new tub. The customer would have been charged for our going to and from [redacted] to purchase the new tub. The administrative assistant [redacted] spoke to did not state the job would take no more than hour since there were two men on the job. Quoting an exact period of time a job will take to be completed is near impossible to do (and in this particular case, we went to procure another tub for this customer adding to the labor charges) [redacted] states in her complaint that an “eyewitness” told her that our men were sitting on a side street while we she was being billed $275.00 per hour. Please note that [redacted] has made several derogatory remarks on our companies [redacted] site. In one of those complaints she stated that “she, herself” witnessed our men sitting in the truck, smoking! Neither account is true.We purchased a new tub from our supplier at a normal customer mark-up. Karl’s Plumbing & Heating warranties the work we performed for [redacted] for one year.

We were called for a kitchen sink stoppage, upon inspection we noted the piping under the sink was eroded and leaking, the customer had informed us she put a chemical drain cleaner down the sink, this caustic chemical cleaner when sitting in PVC piping erodes the PVC.   We quoted her a price to...

clear the stoppage and replace the eroded PVC pipe with a new a "copper" trap and tail piece.  She agree to the price of $750.00 plus tax.  We proceeded to clear the stoppage and we replaced the eroded PVC pipe with the copper trap and tail piece.  Customer paid inf full by check.   At a later time the customer called me Pat B[redacted] the office manager stating our tech did not replace the piping under the sink as stated to which I forwarded two emails one with the before pictures of her sink and the 2nd email showed the after picture of the pipe we replaced.  She also stated that her "union plumber friend" said we overcharged, I welcomed a phone call from this friend, he called and spoke to our foreman Pat M[redacted] who explained what we did  and the cost.  He made no issue with our explanation about the work done or the charges when he spoke to Pat M[redacted].  We considered this matter settled after that. Please see the attached before and after emails.  Please note as always we provide the customer with a quote they are more than welcome to negotiate or decline the quote and seek another plumber.  Thank youPat B[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business...

in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The response from Karl’s Plumbing is weak and dishonest . I have never asked, stated or implied that Karl’s would need to wait for payment in connection with rents.  I fully intend to make prompt payment of the balance when the work is fully complete. The response from Karls is also irrelevant.  What is relevant are the contract payment terms (see Attachment) which state:  “[redacted]”.  Period.I paid $15,000 (50%) to begin work as required by the contract.  Unfortunately I paid an additional $10,000 before the work was complete after receiving phone calls aggressively pressuring me to make that additional payment. To reiterate my complaint: Karl’s knew and agreed upon the signing of the contract that they would have to come back to install the baseboards, thermostats, third floor exhaust and fresh air intake, meter bars, etc., after the carpentry finish work was complete in  each apartment.  When the first phase of the work was complete (installation of the heating units and piping) Karl’s office manager began calling and became very aggressive in demanding an additional payment over and above the 50% down payment, even though I was under no obligation to do so since all the work was not complete.  However I made the payment they demanded as a show of goodwill, to maintain a good working relationship and to ensure they would return to finish as needed to complete the work in each apartment as they became ready. After the first apartment became ready they refused to come back and do work and demanded that at least two apartments be ready before they came back.  In an attempt to salvage a working relationship I again agreed to their demands. When two apartments became ready they again increased their demands and stated they would not come back until I either I pay them the entire remaining balance of $5,000 minus only $1,000 or had all three apartments ready before they returned to the job.Not honoring agreements after receiving the bulk of the contract amount and making excuses to not complete the work as agreed or imposing new conditions to complete the work is unfortunately a common tactic of disreputable contractors.Unfortunately I overpaid and now they have no incentive to come back since the amount of work remaining to be done is greater than the amount of the remaining contract balance.Karl’s plumbing has refused to complete the work as agreed and have undermined any trust I may have had.  Therefore I won’t make any more payments whatsoever until the work is fully complete.I want Karl’s plumbing to complete the work in the stages we agreed on and then I will gladly make the final payment in a timely manner.
