Review: My husband passed on 1/28/2015 I took taxes to him because I assumed a CPA would know exactly how to handle this. I had a copy of death certificate and ask him several times about marking the deceased spouse box. He did not said I would have the federal refund in time to pay the state their 1,625.00 needless to say I got a letter From the IRS wanting a copy of the death certificate and delaying my refund 6-8 weeks. As with any death there are a lot of bills and financial things happening. So now I have to pay the state and still have no federal refund,had to pay him 200.00 for a job I thought he could do but has only cost me financially and stressful as I had to come up with the state money and wait 2 months to get my refundDesired Settlement: I don't think I should have to pay this as he did not do the job correctlyEven with me asking him about the death certificate and marking the boxes. The whole reason in choosing a CPA was to relieve a little stress and worry and it only added to it

This taxpayer is not telling the whole truth about this issue. I tried to explain what had to be done, but she was not knowledgable about taxes, and evidently she did not do as instructed. I have had my own practice for 22 years and as far as I know, this is the first complaint that has been filed against me. The $200 fee is not worth having an argument about, so if you have discussions with her, please let her know I will refund the $ 200.
