Review: On January 3, 2013 I ordered three items and paid unit price plus processing and handling, to be delivered within 4 to six weeks. On February 5, when nothing had arrived, I called and spoke to [redacted] at Harriet Carter, who gave me an order number ([redacted]) and told me the package would be delivered to my street address within two days. On February 5, 2013, a package arrived containing 2/3 of my order, along with a notice that the other 1/3 item was "temporarily out of stock, to follow within 30 days or less." On March 8, 2013, when no additional package had arrived, I called Harriet Carter again and spoke to [redacted], who first told me the item had been delivered in the original package. When I quoted her the "within 30 days" notice, she agreed it had been omitted from the original package but would be delivered within a few days. When I told her either get me the item or give me my money back, she said, "That's your decision," so I told her just to refund my money. She said the money back request would be honored and they woud "ship today." It is now March 21, 2013 and nothing, either package or refund, has been received.

IDesired Settlement: I would like to be paid for the original item ($14.98) plus 1/3 of the processing and handling ($2.82), for a total of $17.80. In addition, I would like to be assured that Harriet Carter performs/delivers the services it advertises, or it is penalized in some way.

Review: I have been trying for over three years to have my name removed from the Harriet Carter mailing list so that I will not continue to receive their obnoxious catalogues in my mailbox. I first filed a complaint with the FTC. That went nowhere. I belong to an online site called "Catalog Choice". I requested numerous times via the Catalog Choice website that they contact Harriet Carter on my behalf and have my name removed from their mailing list. This was done, but their catalogs continue to come. I have contacted the Harriet Carter website myself. I have contacted them many, many times and given all the information they requested in order to remove my name from their mailing list. Still I continue to receive their catalogs, sometimes twice a month. What more do I have to do to get them to stop bothering me with their catalogs? Please, please help. This has been going on for years now. Please make them stop contacting me.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome is to never, NEVER, NEVER EVER receive a Harriet Carter catalog in my mailbox. That means never!

RE: [redacted] - Complaint ID: [redacted]

Dear [redacted]:

We have received [redacted]’s request and have removed her name from our mailing file. We have also added her to our masterfile suppression so that, should her name come to Harriet Carter through another source in the future, we will drop her from all future mailings as long as she remains at her current address. Please note that this process does take time and it is possible that she may receive 1 or 2 more additional catalogs from us because of crossover from the time of request and the time when lists are pulled to be processed for mailing. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for this process to complete.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I hope this clears up this matter to everyone’s satisfaction.

Sincerely,

Mailing List Manager

Review: I ordered a "Cat Playhouse" on in March 2014:

The cat house was not able to unfold or stand upright, and clearly the picture in the catalog was modified to make it look different than actual product. Its defectiveness is an outrage. I refuse to pay for shipping outbound and I want my return shipping cost credited to me. It was large and very much a gross inconvenience to have to deal with this issue.Desired Settlement: I am writing to demand outbound shipping for the order in the amount of $12.95 be refunded as well as the return shipping be refunded, in the amount of $11.82 please given my return. I returned it with [redacted] on 04/14/14 [redacted] tracking # [redacted]

Please therefore refund my total shipping in the amount of $24.77.
