Harrington Law Office

Review: In November of 2010 I paid a retainer fee of $2,000 to a lawyer working for [redacted] law firm. We went to court ONCE in January. During the next few months I made monthly payments of $500 totalling $6,000. On top of this $6,000 my bill was around $12,000 for emails and phone calls. That lawyer withdrew from my case right before our scheduled court date and I was left to represent myself. In August of 2011 I retained a new lawyer and [redacted] law firm tried to order that the retainer I paid is due to them. We went to court and the judge denied their claim. Since then, I have recieved absolutely no paperwork or bills regarding the so called amount owed to [redacted] Harrington. In June of 2013 I received a letter from [redacted] Harrington claiming that I owe him over $14,000 and that he would disregard the full amount if I paid him $5,000 within 20 days or he would send my bill to collections. Like I said, I paid [redacted] law firm a total of $6,000 which I believe is more than enough for the services I recieved. To bill me $14,000+ on top of that is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act for attempt to collect a debt not owed. In addition the lawyer that I hired did the work, not [redacted] Harrington.Desired Settlement: I would respectfully request that [redacted] erase all so called debts owed.

This person incurred excessive fees with my office and has refused to pay them. he has complained to everyone he can just to avoid the fees he incurred and owes.

You will note that he does not complain that he did not receive the services her requested or that he did not incur the fees. he simply does not want to pay for the services he received.

It is a simple collection matter that he chooses not to address and instead complains.

[redacted] is a crook. He hasn't contacted me in over a year in a half. To say that I owe him over $14,000 on top of the $6,000 I have paid him for a lawyer that went to court twice shows what kind of criminal enterprise he is running with his law firm. Like I said before. I made monthly payments of $500. It was [redacted]s choice to withdraw and it wasn't due to lack of payment. The last I heard of [redacted] was in June 2011. There has been no attempt to collect any fees since then. I suppose that this dispute will need to be settled in court, costing us both time and money.
