Harris Industrial Gases Reviews (2)

Review: I, [redacted] the CEO of [redacted] is deeply unsatisfied as a Harris Industrial Gases customer regarding a product intended to be customized out of a specific material to be put on a semi truck which turn out to be completely wrong. To start with, It is the company policy that all projects and work orders requires a signature by the CEO as approval before work can began. By law, everyone has the right to a written and signed by the customer estimate. There were no signed or approved document of the project estimate provided by the merchant. As CEO of [redacted] I would have never approved a project with the wrong material, this merchant has selected on their own free will to be mounted on one of our trucks. The product the merchant claim to have made for our company does not fit perfectly on our $150,000 dollar 2015 Kenworth truck. The product block any access to the in frame tool box and do not go in contrast with [redacted] Entities Inc colors or image. My company uses product made out of shiny light stainless steel or aluminum diamond plate only for our company trucks. This merchant selected the wrong material unapproved for this project which is dull, rusty diamond plate that has yellow paint marks made out of heavy steel material.Being an experience owner operator for quite some time, I know the difference between stainless steel and aluminum and am absolutely not confused by the names between the two metals. One of the many goals of [redacted] Entities Inc is to make our trucks lighter due to weight in order to create a possible increase in the company revenue. The material selected by the merchant would defeat out company goal and would only add more unnecessary weight to our trucks and decrease the company revenue. It is beyond me that this merchant would even try to imply what a customer wants. This merchant speaks about their business practice along with their creditably. If this merchant was truthful about the way they do business, we would have resolved this matter even before going to the Revdex.com. If this merchants employee were honest, they would of have admitted to their mistake and accepted responsibly by making the customer their first priority. If the employee have listen to what the customer have wanted there would be no reason to file this claim. This merchant has done everything in their favor to not corporate with this matter. In fact, the manager of this merchant has done everything in her power to dodge this bullet and accept no responsibility. After the conversation I had with Al and the manager, they stated they were going to give me a call but since then nobody has return any of my phone call so the merchant is refusing or ignoring to speak to us. Al, the merchant employee stated to the manager that he have taken me to the back of the shop and showed me the material that which he would be using. If Al had walked me back to the shop and showed me the material I would absolutely said no to the material. As a matter of fact, if I was taken to the back of the shop then I would have knowledge of where the back of the shop was located at and where the material is in the back of the shop. Though Al never took me to the back of the shop and showed me the material as he claims. I do not know why Al is making false statement besides Al protecting his job or refraining from any disciplinary action. I have explain to the manager the material I wanted and asked her to go and take a look at my truck to see how it would be common sense how that steel material would not fit in contrast with my truck which the manager decline to even bother to take a look at my truck. The manager claims the she believes Al and me both but she still sided with her employee. My assistant came in to only have the product prepaid for as instructed to do so by the CEO of [redacted] My assistant was not ordered to inspect the product prior to paying for it or had the ability and knowledge to approve for the product. My assistant was only there to pay for the product so it can be picked up by me later in the day. When I did came by to pick it up, Al brought out the rusty dull steel plate. I questioned Al what was this product for it was not what I asked for Al. simply replied that I can paint it, which truly upset me. When the plate was place on my truck frame it did not fit perfectly, for the steel plate was blocking my access to the inner frame tool box. I explained to Al that the steel rusty Deck Plate did not contrast with the rest of the truck and I refused to accept the product. Due to the merchant inability to take care of this matter, I had to resort in taking my business elsewhere. I end up purchasing a light stainless steel deck plate from another company known as Protec. The stainless steel deck plate I have purchase from the company Protec has great contrast and fit perfectly with my truck image. In the end, based on the idea that the customer is always right and my knowledge and experience as an owner operator truck driver I knew exactly what I wanted. Harris Industrial Gases made the mistake in picking out the wrong material as they wish and claiming I do not know the difference between the two metals. As an employee of the merchant, Al clearly provided false statement in order to save his own job and protect himself from any disciplinary action. Even the manager herself has shown no power of authority by siding with the employee. The merchant might be in business for 80 years but the ethics and customer service which built the company has been gone since. This claim was filed due to the merchant failed customer service, and the ability to handle this situation face to face and failing to solve the problem by giving a refund. The merchant did not provided the right material and it is only the right thing to do to refund the amount the amount charge. Thank You.Desired Settlement: On behalf of [redacted] it is not what I hope but rather the right thing to do as a customer to receive a full refund. I have been trying to solve this issue for quite awhile. Even though the product was paid full, I never receive the product, the merchant still has it. The merchant took $259 from us and we are still left empty handed. The merchant has not try to The employee should receive disciplinary action for using false statement and I wish to get a full refund and nothing less.

Response:

Customer came into our shop (a small, 80-year-old family-owned business that has not lasted this long by cheating or misleading customers), requesting diamond floor plate for his truck bed. Our shop foreman (**) showed him a sheet of steel diamond plate (claimant misuses the terms 'stainless steel' and 'aluminum' in his complaint, indicating he is confused by the names of the metals). He said it was perfect and requested we cut it for him and had to leave. Al wrote up the job order, and customer’s wife came in and paid for job. Piece was cut as requested (we can submit photo of cut piece but do not know how to attach it in this window). Customer later came in to pick up item. ** carried the cut piece to customer’s truck, setting it in place, showing customer how it fit exactly as he had requested. Customer looked at it and said, “I wanted it to be shiny, like this (pointing to the aluminum diamond plate tool box in his truck bed).” ** said, “But that’s not what you asked for; you asked for THIS piece. If you want another piece, I’m sure the inside sales staff will discount the new piece (which they did offer to do). Customer did not re-order correct piece, instead leaving dissatisfied, and later requesting a credit from his credit card company. We did nothing wrong here. We are still willing, however, to discount whatever new piece he wants to purchase by 50%, to show good will in an effort to resolve the dispute. Customer has to accept some responsibility here. We cut steel for a living. We do not cut from a phone order; we make customer show us in person what they want. We have learned this the hard way over the decades, just so customers cannot later say “This is not what I wanted.’

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:I amrejecting this response based on the false accusations the company is stating. Irequested for an aluminum diamond floor plate for my truck bed not a steelplate. I understandthat this is a small 80 year old business that has not lasted this long bycheating their customers. But this Company did cheat me this time. On the samelevel, my company is also a small family-owned transportation business. I havebeen a truck driver for 25 plus years and became an owner operator in 2011. Thenumber of years a company is in business does not matter in this situation. Thebusiness may hold up an image through the numbers of years in business but the traditionand reputation was not represented through the employee in this matter or theCompany. ** created afalse statement stating that he took me to the back of the shop and have showedme the material in which was going to be used for the job. Al had never takenme to the back and showed me the material. If he did, I could to this day beable to walk to the back of the shop and show the material myself or to anyone withoutany guidance from the shop men. But I can’t, due to the simple fact Al nevertook me to the shop to show me any material. So I have no clue where thematerial is located in this shop. I don’t know how else to explain to thiscompany in English that “Al never showed me the material and heis lying.” This company believes the employee word over thecustomer. The company act like $259.00 is going to make them go out ofbusiness. I’d be happy to go to the shop as a test and give proof showinganyone where Al took me that day. As ** only took me from the front of the shopto my truck to the office and that was it. **, the shop man wrote up the joborder for which I never have sign my name on to approve Since weboth experience many years in the metal industry, I can say that I am aware ofthe different type of metals and is not confused. I was employed by Hopper Industrieslocated in Bakersfield, CA. One of the largest suppliers of steel and plate inthe 80s. When I walk through door I knew exactly what I wanted. (A sample ofthe material wanted is shown in example 1). This merchant has no right to saythey knew what the customer wanted and went ahead and did the job either way.Instead, Al picked out a heavy steel diamond plate under his free will for thejob. (Sample 2 shows an example of the material he used.) My wife came in and PREPAID for the product inorder to allow the money to be taken out of the bank and was scheduled for meto pick up the product later that day. My wife absolutely did not paid for thejob and have no evidence of approving the job for she has never even see theproduct herself. ** used aforklift in order to carry the finished piece on to the bed of my truck. I wassurprise when I saw the cut piece for this is not what I asked for. The piece was a heavy steel diamond plate withrust and yellow paint all over it. (Sample 3 shows the actual finished product.)I was upset with this piece and all ** could say was “you can paint it” whichwas not part of my plan. ** coworker was helping him place the plate on mytruck and I showed the coworker that the plate did not fit right, and I askedhis coworker what am I to do with this as this is not what I ordered. Hiscoworker understood the situation and got ** to remove the plate from my truckand the coworker tried to assist me in making the order right. But thecoworkers was told by management to stay out of it. This management has failedon all levels of customer satisfaction. In an earlierstatement submitted by the company to my bank, ** stated that when he placedthe cut piece on my truck bed, it fit “perfectly.” It did not fit perfectly forwhen it was placed I was unable to get to my tool box. The piece was intendedto be cut and had an opening which surrounds my toolbox. The opening did NOTfit “perfectly” for I could not open my tool box. In this statement, Al statedthat the piece fit exactly as “I requested” knowing that it did not fit “perfectly”.It did not fit the way I requested because I could not get my tool box toopen. I left without the piece, unsatisfied. No one at this company would be satisfied if this happen to them on anyproduct. As a resultof this problem, I had to resort in buying the right material floor plate formy truck from a different company known as Protech. (See example 4, a stainlesssteel floor plate, Example for shows the floor PERFECTLY mounted on my truck). On a laterdate, I went and have a conversation with both ** and the manager. The managerstated that she both believed us but took ** word over the customer. Themanager on the other hand had no authority or control over the shop. When Iwalk in to discuss this matter, all she could say was “you need to talk with theshop man you are working with.” The manager did not take effort to resolve the problem.I have asked her to go and take a look at my truck and explain to her how can Iput an old rusty steel diamond floor deck on a shiny $150,000 2015 Kenworthtruck? (Example 5 shows the floor plate fitting into the image of the shinesthe truck represents). Yet, the manager couldn’t even take the effortor even a second to go and look at my truck. At the end of the conversation, itwas stated that they were going to give me a call about the price of thecorrected piece at a discount. Accept I have not received that call even tothis day. I have called and left voicemails without any call back and an email. Inconclusion, I did nothing wrong here. Except trusting the wrong Company to dothe Job. If the Company did what they said they did by showing me the rightmaterial we would not be having this conversation or filing this complaint. ** is the one who needs to take responsibilityand admit his statement is false. ** never took me to the back of the shop and showedme the material. I do not know why ** is holding on his false statements andallowing this dispute to continue on or a Company who claims they have aperfect reputation would allow a customer walk away unsatisfied as well as losinga customer forever. I want a full refund. I am not accepting a new piece atdiscount price for as a Harris customer, I had to learn the hard way that theemployee lies, and the manager is not helpful at all. Even aCompany like [redacted] would exchange or refund any product to please thecustomer.

Response:

Large corporations such as [redacted] can afford to give customers their money back, whether the customer has a legitimate complaint or not. I was in line behind a woman at [redacted] and witnessed her returning a 2-year-old blanket that had been used, washed many times, and was in terrible condition. She simply said she didn't like it. She had no receipt and no way of proving she'd even bought it there. But [redacted] is huge, and it doesn't matter to them whether they give this woman her $50 back, if that was even the amount she spent in the first place.Frankly, I'm tired of going 'round and 'round about this, as I'm trying to run our company and 30 employees at four locations. I can see that the customer is trying to wear us down, and unfortunately, it's working. I am the third generation of the Harris family to run this company, with my son, the fourth. We do business by the standards set by my grandfather. When we are wrong, we are the first to admit it. When we are right, we will go to the mat for ethical reasons. To show our willingness to come to the table in the spirit of compromise (which is also a key to business success), we are willing to return HALF the amount the customer paid. Period. No further negotiations. We will mail a check to the customer at whatever address he provides. If that is not satisfactory, we're sorry. We know this customer will never return to our store and will say bad things about us either way. That's just one of the pitfalls of doing business in this day and age. Sincerely,[redacted]PresidentHarris Industrial Gases

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:Once again this business continues to deny the mistakes it has made and failed to admit their employes lied. This is not about what I may not say about this business. In fact that is far from the truth. I have done business with this company before in Auburn and it was good in the past. But this time they are dead wrong. I will not just give money away for nothing. I have no product at all to show for my money. Currently this business has my money and the product and I have nothing in return and what they were offing as a product is not except able. I'm sure the product is long gone by now. I have submitted clear evidence that shows they were in the wrong. They continue to say what a customer wants. They have noway of knowing what a customer wants or what I want. This is not about wearing them down. This about doing what is right and returning my money to me in full. As the manger in Auburn stated: If we did not show you the materiel then you will receive a full refund. This is the case,. They never showed me the material, but I did show them the truck and the material I wanted. They done nothing what they said they would do. In fact the manger said it would be $150.00, not $130.00 returned to me. The full amount is due back to me and will only get bigger the more I got to do to get it back. The first thing I asked them about was about stainless steel plate. Thats shinny. How did they change it to a plate with paint marks and no shine? If this business wants to keep that stand of only offering me half of the money and no product. I am sure they will in enjoy the long ride to Grass Valley Courts to see me in person. I'm sure that will be cheaper then paying me a refund now, So this will not end here as I will not just let someone steal my money and receive nothing in return. It's not just me that's learning about this matter, Its all my coworkers who own trucks that will not do business with them again also. The Auburn location knows my truck as I pass by them everyday on the truck route loaded with logs. I see Al everyday and they have never made attempt to stop me to resolve this situation at all. No one has even tried to contact me from this company to sit down and talk about this at all. I would really like to ask Al why he lied. Because this company should be asking him the same question. In my company that employee will be gone for lying. See you in Grass Valley. So I am offing you heck of a deal $259.00 now or more later. Oh yea the [redacted] story was great.! Thanks. I can,t afford to lose money either and wouldn't take some else money to get ahead.

I went to Harris Industrial Gases in hope of getting a aluminum diamond deck plate made for my $150,000 2015 Kenworth truck. I walked in told the employee what I wanted, exactly what the material I want it to be made out of. The employee took the measurement of my truck where the deck plate was going to place then I left. The employee NEVER took me out back to show the material. I had my assistant stop by to prepay for the product so it can be paid when I come by to pick it up later. When I did came to pick it up, the employee brought out a an old rusty heavy steel deck plate covered in yellow paint marks. I indicated that was not what I asked for and I refused to accept the product. since then I have been trying to resolve this problem with no success. The employee use false statements into order to protect his own job. The manager seems to want to have nothing to do with me, and has no sense of authority around there. The manager dodges the bullet. This business might be running for 80 years now but what was then is not now. Customer service and satisfaction is meaningless to them. The employee uses false accusations and the manager is nonetheless beside being use less.
