I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
If you look at his statement he says that only one joint had play in it Why did they have to replace both lower ball joints? After talking with Mr***, it was evident to me, he had no intention of admitting he was wrong and returned part of the money they overcharged me I showed him, the receipt where I had just bought the other ball joint about a year ago and it was still under warranty, so he gave me $for that partHe also returned the $130, where they repacked both wheel bearings, when the bearing was bad and failed as I was going down the road This mis-diagnosis, caused me to have to spend over $in parts and labor to get it fixed and now I will have to pay for another wheel alignment, to ensure I don’t pre-maturely wear out my tires.I will fax the invoices of what I have already spent to correct the work I paid Harris to do After seeing how Harris treats folks who know the mechanics of a vehicle, I would never recommend them to a woman or anyone who doesn’t have a clue as to what they are doing Simply put, I don’t trust them to work on my vehicle and I have outstanding lifetime warranty on parts they have replace previously.Very Respectfully,*** ***

We inspected Mr. [redacted]'s 2001 Ford Ranger that had 217,924 miles on 4-19-14. We informed Mr. [redacted] that to pass State Inspection both lower ball joints had to be replaced and that one of his wheel bearings had play in it. We gave Mr. [redacted] an estimate on replacing both lower ball joints and...

repacking both front wheel bearings (recommended repacking both & not just one side). Va. State law entitles Mr. [redacted] the option of a 15 day rejection sticker to allow him to perform his own repairs or have someone else repair the vehicle and then bring it back within that 15 day period for re-inspection. Mr. [redacted] also was entitled to dispute any rejected item with a State Police Officer who would come by the shop and go over the rejected items with the mechanic who inspected the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] chose to accept our estimate and have us repair and inspect the vehicle. NO work was performed until Mr. [redacted] approved all repairs. Mr. [redacted] returned to the shop before the work was performed and visually was shown the required repairs with the inspector/mechanic. It is important to keep in mind that these were the original factory parts that were 13yrs old with 217,914 miles on them. These are normal wear and tear parts that do not last forever... but at no time was Mr. [redacted] obligated to have us repair his vehicle. We completed the work for Mr. [redacted] on 4-19-14 and he paid and no complaints were issued that day. About two months after Mr. [redacted] had the inspection and repairs performed he wrote Harris Tire company a letter expressing his doubt on the need for the repairs and also the markup on the parts. I personally called Mr. [redacted] to discuss those concerns with him. I reiterated his options under Va. State Inspection law and also explained our markup on parts. I acknowledged that there were lower price and quality parts available that he could have purchased but that we only sell quality parts that include a warranty. I was not aware of Mr. [redacted] having to replace his front wheel bearings until the complaint he filed with the Revdex.com. I will be more than happy to work with Mr. [redacted] on the cost of the repacking of the wheel bearings ($130) from last April if he will bring or fax the invoice from the repair shop that replaced them. [redacted]Vice President - Operations Harris Tire Co

Review: About the middle of the month on a Saturday, April 2014. I went to Harris Tire Company expecting to get a an Annual Safety Inspection. After an extended wait, I had left and they called me saying my vehicle was ready. When I returned to pick it up, they had a list of issues which they said had to be done to get an inspection. Including re-packing both wheel bearings. After my wheel bearings failed a couple days ago, I know they should have been replaced, but they were paid to repack both front bearings, when they should have been replaced. I now, have to pay another shop, to replace both bearings after over paying Harris to repack bearings which they probably knew were bad, so they repacked them. They stated the nut was loose, which is impossible, because there is a cotter key which prevents the nut from loosening on the hub. My issue was that they replaced parts which weren't bad and charged me $560+ to do work which wasn't required. Now 7 months later, I have to pay to get the problem fixed because my truck will not make it back to Harris Tire Co. As long as I have had this truck, I have never broken down on the road until this and didn't expect it to happen with work they insisted needed to be done. I have talked to the manager on the phone repeatedly, but he has evaded my and not returned my calls. I disputed the charge and he only says I authorized the work. Now, I am even more pissed about the work they did.Desired Settlement: As I explained in an earlier complaint. Harris Tire Company replaced parts which had already been replaced and charged a premium price for the parts. Had they communicated with me, I would have bought the parts, so I had a guarantee on their replacement. As it stands now, I have nothing but some shoddy work and no guarantee on any of the parts previously purchased or the work they did. They used to be a quality shop who did quality work at a reasonable price, but I know I was ripped off pay
