Review: I purchased a 2002 F-150 from this dealer two weeks ago. the truck did not have an inspection on it and the dealer claimed it will pass inspection and he will get it done. other than that the truck ran good. The dealer claimed the truck passed inspection and that nothing was wrong with it. I bought the ruck and got it home. a few days driving it around I noticed an exhaust sound and found out the reverse light don't work. took it to [redacted] to have it checked and told me there is no way this truck will pass inspection, both exhaust manifolds, EGR tube and Muffler have holes and cracks, the reverse lights dont work and the tires have less than 15 thread left on them. Part of our deal was that the truck should pass VA state safety inspection, the dealer claims it passed his exact words " doesn't matter how I got it passed, it has a sticker on it you can drive it".I believe he paid someone to pass the truck so he can sell it. I have tried on many occasions to contact him and resolve this issue but he refuses and even threatened me if I called back or came by his location.Desired Settlement: Pay for parts and labor to get truck fixed and legally pass VA state inspection. I have gotten a estimate from [redacted] and the Ford dealership for an estimated 2000 USD.

Response:

Customer called me and complained about an exhaust leak . Exhaust leaks may appear any time due torust. I told him that I would help him even if it is not part of the Good Faith warranty that I gave him atthe time of purchase. The customer was asked to wait for a couple of days until l hire a mechanic formy shop. I told him that he will still pay the cost of fixing the muffler but it will be at wholesale pricebecause he will benefit from inside job cost savings. Customer refused and said that he could not wait.Customer claims that I paid the inspector to pass the inspection. This is a complete lie because he is aclose friend of the inspector and he was present at the inspection station with his dad during theinspection of the truck!!. I have witnesses and his dad is a witness.Customer accused me of threatening him if he called me back or came to my office. I completely andabsolutely refute these accusations as a business owner it will never come across my mind to threaten acustomer because its illegal, bad business , unethical and against the dealer board rules. He is mycustomer and he has every right to come to my office during business hours.Customer purchased the truck with a good faith warranty covering the engine and transmission notmuffler. I'm willing to help him fix this muffler leak at wholesale price and purchaser has to pay thiscost.Regards[redacted], Owner

Review: On December 11th, 2015 I, [redacted], entered into a written agreement with Harrisonburg Auto Wholesale in regards to a $300 REFUNDABLE deposit on a 2002 Subaru Legacy Wagon VIN # [redacted]. The conditions stated on said contract are "1. Dealer will fix engine tapping. 2. Dealer will fix rear hatch. *Deposit refundable if problems not fixed." I contacted the seller frequently and was initially unable to get a response. After a verbal agreement that repairing the vehicle was not in the seller's best interest, we decided that a refund of my deposit was to take place. This was approximately 12/21/2015. Since then I have repeatedly contacted the seller to get my deposit returned to me. They have my bank account info and have no excuse to hold my money, still, over 30 days later. I have called many times and always get an answer "that it will be deposited Tuesday" or "sorry on Saturday" and "the owner is away for a week, I can't help you." I am extremely infuriated and demand MY money be returned to me! I am aware that the vehicle is no longer on the lot and want ONLY to have my money, time and anguish compensated for.Desired Settlement: This business is committing fraud and needs to be punished. They have disrespect for their potential customers and blatantly disregard written contracts and formal business policy.

Response:

Only after contacting your services and The Virginia Dealer Board did I receive a refund. It took over a month to get my money back and am VERY dissatisfied with the business owner. As far as I am concerned this is fraud or theft. They need to be penalized and my complaints should be public information. I will never recommend them to anyone and frankly I hope they lose everything for being such a shady [redacted] show. [redacted] them. And thanks for trying to help. The Virginia Dealer Board handled the matter for me much more quickly.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
