Mr [redacted] I am very sorry that you are frustrated with the dental procedure for *** It sounds like there was a lot of misconceptions with what happened At Hart's Animal Hospital we are very concerned about every pets well being, whether old or young, so we do treatments and procedures for your companion that are safe and comfortable We also do not want anyone's companion to be painful or experience pain during a procedure and we feel that is a top priority to keep your pet pain free We firmly believe that we reasonably priced Yes you have to sign forms before any anesthetic procedure so that you understand the risks of these procedures, just like you have to do for human medicine IV fluid therapy is extremely important during anesthesia to keep renal perfusion (kidney perfusion) working or functioning during anesthesia If this is not done there could be possible renal complications A verbal estimate was given to you prior to your procedure as you stated yourself in your posting of $plus extractions Unfortunately, during dentals we never know how many extractions we will need until we are actually doing the dental During ***'s procedure she had multiple extractions Lidocaine or bupivacaine is used to block an area around the tooth before extraction to eliminate pain for *** This is the same philosophy and practice that is done in human dentistry This block is ALWAYS given before extractions so that there is not a pain response or a pain "wind up" Pain has been proven medically to delay healing and it creates unnecessary discomfort for [redacted] that we can eliminate and we do not want any of our patients going through that These medications are given in small amounts because they are given locally and they are extremely safe for older and younger patients Dr [redacted] did explain these protocols and procedures to you We again are sorry about this miscommunication Buprenex is more "potent" than morphine but potency deals with pharmacology and not physiology A drug that is more "potent" does not mean that it is stronger than morphine, what it means is that you can use less (in mg) of that drug than the other drug to get the desired effect Using less of a drug to get a desired effect is usually safer Buprenex is more effective in small animals and is one of the safest drugs We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you The drugs chosen for these procedures are safe for our older companions Your pets safety and well being are our utmost of importance at Hart's Animal Hospital.***, our hospital manager did call you multiple times without a return phone call so we apologize for the miscommunication She called you on 3/26, 3/31, 4/and 4/3/ She left messages for you on your voice mail and as well as with your receptionists Again we are sorry that there was some miscommunication. After dental procedures some pets will salivate and have more saliva around their mouths due to the procedure We always clean and brush these areas out prior to them going home We will look into our procedures and make sure that we are doing our best.Again we are sorry that you were unhappy with your experience at ***s Animal Hospital We will continue to look at our policies and we welcome any further conversations with you to help you understand the procedures and why we do things Thanks for bringing this to our attention Please respond back to the Revdex.com and give us documentation on the amount you are requesting back so that we can compare our totals and get a refund back to you for the pain medications that were used and the antibiotics Again please feel free to call me for any further discussion regarding this matter.Thank youDr [redacted]

There were NO miscommunications or misconceptionsI was NEVER given the (or ANY figure other than "approx for the cleaning and approx for IV fluids") before hand and NEVER said I received it before handWe were told of the total charges AFTER the procedure on the phone prior to picking our dog upI then requested to see the breakdown via faxWe questioned all the charges before picking her up and also questioned "short paying" those charges until this matter has been worked out and was told "The full total would have to be paid when you pick *** up"Both Dr *** and the Manager ***, were aware of the fact that we DID NOT receive an itemized estimate prior to the procedure and both concurred that we should haveThey even stated that the front desk girls would be talked to about that errorHere is my exact quote
I questioned our bill when I spoke to Dr *** on
the phoneShe asked if I was given an estimate prior to, and I told her
"no, the front desk said they couldn't, but it should be just the cost of
the cleaning, IV fluids and extractions" (which came to approx for cleaning, extractions and IV fluids) She
agreed that we should have gotten an estimate and said "I haven't owned
the practice in years, if I did, I could have reduced your costs due to what
had taken place"That is what it came to on the actual bill (for cleaning, extractions, and IV fluids) we received AFTER the procedure, NEVER beforeThe other and change is what was NEVER estimated to us, or explained to us before hand, and a portion of that number is what we are contesting

Mr ***I am sorry again about the miscommunications and misconceptions that are happening here One is that you are stating that you did not receive an estimate but then you stated in both of your responses that you did receive a verbal estimate prior to the dental being completedThis verbal estimate you stated was for $plus IV fluids of $ (in your first response you listed $and your second you listed $40) plus extractions A second miscommunication was that you stated we never contacted you back and we did so on 3/26, 3/31, 4/and 4/where *** left messages on your voice mail and with your receptionist Another miscommunication was that I asked if you would give us a break down of what prices you are contesting and you did not On your first response you stated that you are contesting $and then on your second response you said you are contesting $ Therefore to help clarify this, I have listed a break down of what we are willing to refund you for the "extras" that you do not want to pay and an explanation of what they are and why we use them The list is as follows:1) $for the local anesthesia (for blocking the teeth before extractions to reduce the pain for ***)2) $for the convenia injection (an antibiotic that will aid in preventing any infections for ***)3) $for a Rimadyl anti-inflammatory injection (to help reduce swelling and pain for *** right after the dental)4) $for a Buprnex injection (to help with the pain from the tooth extractions for *** right after the dental)5) $for Rimady to go home (an anti-inflammatory for a few days post extractions for ***)6) $for pain medication to go home (for pain control if she would get uncomfortable at home)7) $for Consil (which is a bone grafting material to place into the tooth sockets after extraction to promote bone growth quickly to fill in the area that the tooth root held)The total is $that we are willing to refund you back once we get a signed agreement back from you Again we are sorry that you are unhappy with your experience at our hospital These are all procedures, treatments and protocols that all of us, on the hospital staff, believe in and would have done on our own companions We again apologize for the miscommunication that happened with you and this was never our intention I believe that the Revdex.com will help us to proceed forward with this.Dr ***

I DID NOT EVER say that I received estimate BEFORE procedureI repeated stated the TRUTH which is I got a call AFTER the procedure was done and BEFORE the pick up of our dog, ***I am contesting the total and always have beenI have read the release and will not sign itThis was written by an Attorney with too many loopholes to counter sue usI am willing to accept the refund (not a settlement) and Any and all reviews up to this point shall remain as they are truthful and some cannot be deletedIf you are willing to handle this through the Revdex.com and be stand-up, there are ZERO reasons to sign your heavy handed ONE SIDED releaseIf you do not agree to this, than we have no other choice but to continue with our formal complaint with the Vet board, and will continue to express our negative experience with any site, venues, and or social media sites that have common interest in this issue
