I am requesting a refund of a deposit sent to the company on [redacted] in the amount of [redacted] for work that was scheduled but never done. On [redacted] I entered into a contract with Hartley Brothers for a curtain drain at my property on 48 [redacted] The total cost of the work was to be [redacted] A 50% deposit was due prior to the work starting. On [redacted] I mailed a check in the amount of [redacted] along with a signed contract. I was told the work was going to be done after Thanksgiving. When the work wasn't done, I called and asked when the work was to be done. I was told before Christmas. When the work wasn't done, I sent an e-mail on [redacted] to [redacted] I received no response. I then called in early [redacted] and spoke with [redacted] who said the work was going to be done soon and it wasn't too late to get it done before spring. On [redacted] I sent another e-mail to the company, and have yet to receive a response back.Desired SettlementWe would like a refund of the down payment that was mailed on [redacted] in the amount of [redacted] plus [redacted] for the time spent in follow up calls and e-mails and lost interest on the money. We sent 50% down payment in good faith so the job would begin in [redacted] 2014. To date, the work has not been completed and we have not been contacted to schedule the work nor has a refund or explanation been given as to why the work wasn't done as discussed. We needed this curtain drain work done prior to spring as it is very important to divert the water away from our home. We are very worried about the melting snow and what damage the water will cause.Business Response This is a none issue. If [redacted] just called me the deposit could be mailed out. They have had this money since November of last year.
