The technician who looked at the job stated that the flange did need to be replaced because it had been forcibly removed from the pipe in the groundCoins, shims, woood pieces are all commonly used to level commodes on uneven floorsUneven floors are consistently common hence the use of shims
He did not confirm coverage as we do not determine that, her home warranty company does as she was informed of at the timeImproper installation by the builder years go would have been a problem immediately, (which is common sense) not years later, obviously. The flange was damaged due to excessive force when the toilet was removed from the floor while still bolted to the flangeThat is excessive force and cannot be considered improper installation nor wear and tear Though we sympathize with the cost of repairs we cannot give information to anyone even to save a customer moneyAlso trying to get her warranty company to pay for something obviously not covered would be insurance fraud. This individual claims age and health predudices While those are important at a personal level they cannot affect anything to do with her contract coverage. Summary: she must discuss any further concerns with her home warranty company as they are the ones who direct our services with there clients not us.At this point the matter is out of our hands

I am rejecting this response because: First of all I'm obviously offended by Hartman Services innuendo of insurance fraud in my partSecondly, no individual has removed said toilet other than their own technicianPeriodYes, after doing some research it is not unusual for shims to be used for minor leveling issuesTheir statement that the flange would have failed immediately after house was built is ridiculousI have spoken with two other plumbers and no one can definitively day when a flange will fail due to an improper installNo oneI relied on what THEIR OWN technician statedHe did state he had only recently been employed by their company and perhaps this is part of the problemMaybe it's not their policy to state something is covered and they would contact me the following day to schedule repairThat shouldn't be my problem, but ultimately it did BECOME my problemI certainly would not want that individual chastised for doing what he thought was his jobI've already taken steps to have the toilet repairedI'm not looking for Hartman Services to do any work for me and would not trust them at this point to do anyMy complaint at this point, moving forward, is their total lack of common courtesy in returning phone callsThe fact that the original determination was changed, but they didn't have the common courtesy to let me knowThey let American Home Shield do the heavy lifting in that partThis, coupled with their condescending attitude on the phone once they FINALLY answered my call after days, along with their response to my BBC complaint, tells me this is a company that has no Regards for their customersI plan to continue to let anyone and everyone I know to use this company
Regards,
