RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Harvey's still insist upon the fact that we didn't bring the vehicle back to them. it was a safety issue that we could not get our truck back to Radford. and we were told by them we would have to pay to have the truck towed back to them. we elected to have it serviced in Christiansburg because that's where we were when the trouble started. It was safer than trying to drive it back up the interstate to Harvey's they are responsible for this they need to reimburse us for the repairs. They need t live up to their advertisements. Regards, [redacted]

Harvey's stated they have not seen proof that the repairs were made. I have attached a copy of the receipt for their use. The cost of the rear brakes was $plus tax. That is the amount I want back from them

DEALER HAS REVIEWED THE REPAIR ORDER SENT IN BY CUSTOMER. WE STILL FEEL THAT THE DEALER HAS NO OBLIGATION IN THIS REPAIRS. OUR EMPLOYEES PEFORMED THE WORK THE CUSTOMER HAD PAID FOR AND OUR ADVISORS OFFERED THE CUSTOMER THAT WE WOULD LOOK AT THE VEHICLE FOR THE REPAIRS IN QUESTION. THE CUSTOMER CHOSE NOT TO RETURN TO THE DEALER AT THIS TIME. THE REPAIRS MAY HAVE BEEN WARRANTBLE IF THE CUSTOMER HAD RETURNED TO DEALER. WE FEEL ALL OPERATION OF THE BRAKES INSTALLED WERE WORKING PROPERLY OR THE CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE HAD CONCERNS BEFORE 11 MONTHS HAD PASSED. HARVEY'S WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK PERFORMED IF GIVEN THE CHANCE TO INSPECT FOR IMPROPER INSTALLATION OR PARTS.

The parts come with a 12 month warranty against any manufactuer defects and may have been considered for adjustment at our facility. We feel the installation of the brakes were done correctly or a concern would have been noticed before 11 months. All brake components are subject to corrosion from the elements from the highway and need to be inspected to make sure they are working properly. Harvey's never addressed the issue of cleaning the slides on the calipers as part of the replacement of disc and rotors.  And to state that if the repairs were done wrong it would have shown up before 11 months had passed is circumstantial.  The brakes lasted for 7,000 miles in normal driving conditions.  Even a poor brake job should last longer.  Answer is completely inadequate and I intend to keep complaining until I am reimbursed.

CUSTOMER VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO US ON 3/9 FOR A NO START CONDITION. WE GOT TO THE INITIAL DIAGNOSIS AND FOUNDBATTERY SHORTED NO VOLTAGE AVAILABLE. CUSTOMER SUPPLIED NEW BATTERY FOR DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE. ONCE NEW BATTERY INSTALLED FOUND IGN SWITCH BINDING AND IGN HOUSING RACK BROKEN. REPLACE REQUIRED...

PARTS AND VEHICLE WOULD START. VEHICLE DID HAVE SEVERAL OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES AT THIS POINT. CONTACT CUSTOMER AND INFORMED OF FINDINGS AND RECIEVED AUTHORIZATION TO DIAGNSOSIS ELECTRICAL CONCERNS. UPON INSPECTION FOUND WIRING CUT AND SPLICED BACK TOGETHER DURING PREVIOUS REPAIRS PERFORMED BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN HARVEY CHEVROLET PICTURES INCL. CONTACT CUSTOMER AND INFORMED OF FINDING WITH WIRING CONCERNS AND RECIEVED AUTHORIZATION TO COMPLETE WIRING REPAIRS SO DIAGNSOSIS COULD CONTINUE. REPAIR WIRING AND PERFORMED DIAG FOUND CENTRAL POWER SUPPLY SHORTED SUPPLYING 3 TIMES NEEDED VOLTAGE TO NEEDED MODULES. ONCE FOUND THIS INSPECTED HVAC MODULE AND INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FOUND SHORTED DUE TO EXCESSIVE VOLTAGE BEING SUPPLIED. RAN PARTS LOCATOR IN GM NETWORK AND FOUND NO NEW PARTS AVAILABLE DUE TO AGE OF  VEHICLE. ALSO CONTACTED LOCAL USED PARTS SUPPLIERS FOR AVAILBABILITY NONE TO BE FOUND AT THIS TIME. INFORMED CUSTOMER OF FINDINGS AND INFORMED THAT VEHICLE WOULD START AND RUN BUT WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. VEHICLE COULD BE OPERATED BUT MANY FEATURES WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE AND NOT SURE WHAT RESULTS WOULD HAPPEN BY RUNNING VEHICLE THIS WAY. CUSTOMER PICKED VEHICLE UP AND LEFT DEALER. CUSTOMER CONTACTED DEALER THAT VEHICLE HAD STOPPED RUNNING. DEALER OFFERED TO PICK UP VEHICLE AND CHECK TO SEE IF WE COULD DO ANYTHING BUT PARTS NEEDED WERE STILL NOT AVAILBLE. CUSTOMER DECIDED TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO HOME. I KNOW THIS SAYS THIS IS A SECOND NOTICE BUT DEALER HAS NOT RECIEVED ANY INFORMATION ON THIS CLAIM PRIOR TO TODAY!!!!!

We have reviewed the complaint and ressponse from the customer.  As stated in previous response we do not feel we did anything wrong in this repair. Our brake replacement includes pad replacement and inspection of brake caliper and slides for proper operation.  I feel that all was working properly at time of repairs.  Our advisors advised the customer correctly and without any chance to look at vehicle or parts removed at the time the repair was done at another facility we feel we have done all needed to rectify this concern. We regret that the customer feels slighted in this matter but feel the dealer has some right to review the parts or vehicle in this case. The dealer has not seen any invoices stating concerns or that the work was completed.

Review: On Sept 16, 2013 I left my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with Harvey's Chevrolet for an inspection. That inspection ended up costing me $711.95. It was determined that I needed new brakes and rotors all the way around. I agreed to the repairs and supposedly they were made.On August 11, 2014, less than 12 months, I was coming home from work when my truck began making noises that appeared to be coming from the brakes. Since it was a safety issue I took to a nearby repair shop instead of back to Harvey's. I was told by the repair shop that I needed to rear brakes and rotors. I phoned Harvey's, since they had performed the same repair less than a year before, and was told I would have to have it towed to them, at my expense, in order for them to look at it. Because it was a safety issue I left it at the repair shop and they performed the repairs again. Harvey's certified mechanic neglected to insure the caliper was working properly and this is the reason my rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced again after only ll months and 7000 miles. Of course, their response to my written inquiry is it is not their fault. I feel they either failed to clean the caliper and make sure it was working properly or they simply did not perform the repairs at all. They did not give me my old parts. As I told them in my written inquiry I feel they owe me $292.85 plus tax for what I was charged for repair of the rear brakes.Desired Settlement: I was charged $292.85 plus tax for the replacement of rear brake pads and rotors. I would like this amount back.
