Review: Our well pump stopped working and a phone call was placed to [redacted]. Our current neighbors have a lot of experience with a local contractor and recommended that we use a certain individual. Unfortunately it wasn't possible and we were put in touch with Harwinton Drilling and Engineering owned by [redacted]. [redacted] and I both felt that [redacted] didn't manage our issues professionally. He did come out to our home to check the initial issue and the pump was repaired within one week of the initial claim. Our issue isn't with their ability to fix anything it was the way it was handled. I am a mother of a 9 month old little girl. [redacted] used many a "scare" tactic to attempt to upsell us into different products. He said our well casing wasn't up to code and we would need to spend 2400 to change from PVC to steel. Most homes on our street use PVC and we are grandfathered into being able to keep the PVC. After they did the initial chlorine treatment post well pump change, they tested the water and it came positive for coliforms. He said this was likely due to the PVC. However, the PVC has been in place for many years and coliforms haven't been in the water. Therefore they came out and rechlorinated the system. This time they really infused a tremendous amount of chemical. They have not returned to retest this water so for one month, we have been bathing our daughter at our neighbors and drinking bottled water. Another upsell was trying to get us to purchase a new acid/base neutralizer as well as a radon treatment system. We have been waiting over two weeks for the phone call with this estimate. [redacted] said this is very dangerous for us and since the levels test 3500 in March of 2013 we could use a carbon system. Another reason we needed the carbon system was that he determined the Manganese levels were too high (0.004.) However the state max allowed in well water is 0.01 and 0.004 is much less.
