HASCO replaced the customer’s driveway April 23, 2015.  Upon excavation of the existing driveway, it was discovered that everything under the existing asphalt was mud and extremely unstable.  The driveway was located at the very lowest point of all the surrounding properties in their...

neighborhood causing all water to travel through their property on the way to drainage behind their house.  Since HASCO cannot be responsible for unforeseen failing sub-grade upon removal of asphalt, a change order was required to dig out and remove unstable mud/dirt, install 40 additional tons of stone & lime stabilization as well as install drainage in, under and around the perimeter of the driveway before paving.   Upon completion of the driveway, HASCO left the homeowners with instructions to not park on the driveway until everything had a chance to dry up since it was the rainy part of the year. They said they stayed off of it for a month but it was evident they did not as depressions occurred before that month was over.  HASCO returned to repair these areas at no additional charge. The homeowners were also left with instructions to backfill the edges with dirt.  This was not part HASCO’s  scope of work as the customer claimed they had a landscaper who was going to do it.  The customer took over a year to backfill the edges which did result in cracking along the edges as the driveway was 6" higher than the adjacent level of the yard.  These were the only cracks visible at one year and one month after completion as shown in the attached pictures taken June 15, 2016. HASCO also sealcoated and crackfilled the driveway 2 times before the customer backfilled the edges in attempts to contain the cracking and keep them happy.  The first time was at cost and second time was at no charge by HASCO 5 months after the 1 year warranty period.  Both times HASCO stressed the importance to them of back filling the edges with dirt. They wanted HASCO to sealcoat a third time this year again for free and we decided to cut our ties at this point because we cannot afford to provide free maintenance on a driveway that is perfectly fine other than cracks along the edge and a few small depressions due to parking a motor cycle and a large truck.

Hasco advised us to stay off the driveway for 3 days, I have text messages to prove this.  We waited for 7 days and saw their were tire dents so we stayed off an additional 7 days as instructed.  At NO time were we advised to stay off for 30 days.  When we realized there was still a problem we continued to stay off the driveway for several weeks.  Hasco did not come and fix anything until the Fall.  Right before they seal coated they attempted to iron out several of the dents.  At that time, the seal coat did not cover the entire driveway.  Yes, we waited to have dirt brought in to secure the sides of the driveway.  We are not complaining about the sides that had some cracks.  That part has been fixed when we had dirt brought in.  The cracks I'm speaking of is the middle of the driveway. The middle of the driveway is cracking  in several places.  This just doesn't make sense to us when we invested 12k to have the driveway replaced.  The drainage that Hasco installed is working along with the perimeter drain that we personally had installed at an additional cost by a different contractor.  Again, my complaint is not the sides of the driveway, the middle is cracking in several places.  There is supposed to be a warranty on this, and we would like it repaired please.
