[redacted] Hathaway's response to our complaint about his work and the handling of the situation based on the leak that occurred is not accurate. HIs exact words to us when he looked at the hose that he had previously hooked to the back of the brand new dishwasher was: "it was cut", implying that we or someone else had somehow cut the hose after he had installed it. This is not the case at all. In his current response he states that the hose "failed/cracked" based on nothing that he did. [redacted] held the hose and told me that it was cut. He replaced the hose and took the other one with him. Due to the slow leak that had occurred from 12-2-15 (installation) up to 2-16-16, our wood floor in the kitchen is warped and we have mold/mildew beneath the floor under the dishwasher. We have since been told by two different contractors that have assessed the damages, that he whole floor throughout the kitchen, dining area, and living room will all need to be replaced. This will cost anywhere from $12,000 to $13,000. At the time of discovering the leak and [redacted] replacing the hose, he stated that he would stand behind his work and that he had insurance that would cover work related incidents such as this. Now, he is not standing behind his work, stating that it was not caused by anything he did, and refusing to turn this into his insurance. In fact, he is basically saying that it is our problem and that we need to turn this into our homeowner's insurance [redacted] Hathaway of Hathaway Construction is not being truthful and he took the previous hose that he claimed was "cut" in some fashion. We, as the consumers, feel that over $150 for installing the dishwasher, we now have a huge bill facing us in order to properly repair our floor. We cannot afford to do this at this time, and do not feel that it is right to just turn it into our homeowner's insurance, as he clearly states he feels we should do. We have had to hire a lawyer in order to pursue damages/repair cost from [redacted] to fix our floor. We would like to warn other consumers about how this was handled by Hathaway Construction so that they don't end up with a similar issue as a result of shoddy work that he states he will stand behind and then does not stand up to the plate for the repair of the damages he caused in the first place. This is very upsetting to us, as we are new in the area and feel that he is taking advantage of us. We tried to work with him upon discovering the leak, and he became more and more discordant and untruthful throughout the process of trying to get this issue resolved. He leaves us no choice but to hire a lawyer in order to try and have our floor replaced ASAP, as we also have some health related issues that do not bode well with being exposed to mold/mildew. We also do not appreciate his insinuation that we somehow "cut the hose" after he installed it, thereby supposedly causing the leak that then ruined our floor. First of all, why would we even pull the dishwasher out and cut the hose that we paid him to install in the first place. This makes no sense, and in our estimation, is his attempt to place blame elsewhere when it is directly related to the work he performed in the first place.
