Hatter, Williams & Purdy Reviews (1)

Review: They (HWP)"enrolled" me in an insurance policy with my help and the help of my agent. This is totally FALSE! I never had a policy with the company they are claiming that I have the policy with. I choose not to renew my policy with this agency and Travelers after getting a welcoming letter from this "new" company. They have reported that I have a policy with this company to my bank. Upon looking at the HWP website I see the connection to the insurance company that they have "enrolled" me into. One of the owners of the agency is part of [redacted] Insurance Groups producer council. They have sent me threatening letters of cancellation and addition charges if I do not renew the policy. The agency is either corrupt or totally incompetent. I have tried to resolve this issue with them through letters, but they continue down this path of claiming I have a policy enforce and cancellation charges will apply if I dont renew the policy. Again I have no policy with [redacted] as they falsely claim. I have all the documents to back this fraud/incompetence they are attempting.Desired Settlement: I have stated to them that I have insured through a different company. If they continue to try and bill me cancellation fees I will be forced to take legal action against them.

Re: [redacted] ID #[redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

I am in receipt of your letter dated 4/29/13 in regards to the above captioned matter.

Let me begin by stating that Mr. [redacted]'s allegations are completely false and untrue. He has clearly jumped to false conclusions, which could have been avoided had he simply called our office.

Mr. [redacted] has had his home insurance with our agency for over 10 years. Obviously, he must have been happy with our service, or I would assume he would have taken his insurance policies elsewhere a long time ago. During that period of time, his coverage has been with [redacted] Insurance Company. Over the years, his annual premium has increased from approx $300 per year, to close to $800 per year. HWP is an "Independent" agency, and we are not solely tied to one carrier. It gives us, and our clients, the advantage of being able to "shop the marketplace", and choose the best coverage available from several different insurance carriers. Our representatives keep a close eye on our client's policies, and if we feel we have a better alternative to offer, we do so.

Recently, [redacted] Insurance Company has taken several rate increases on their home insurance product. As such, when Mr. [redacted]'s coverage was due to renew on March 31, 2013, we felt we had a better alternative to offer, and gave him the option of placing his coverage with [redacted] Insurance Group (an A+ Rated Insurance Carrier). The alternate quote offered better coverage, at a lower cost, than his policy with [redacted] Insurance Company {copies of the two policy declarations pages are attached}. At no time was he "forced" to go with the alternative program, it was an option available to him,

Attached is a sample letter we send ahead of time to explain the procedure. Mr. [redacted] always had the following options:

A. Stay with [redacted] Insurance Company by simply notifying our office that is what he wished to do.

B. Go with the alternate quote with [redacted] Insurance Group, by simply notifying our office that is what he wished to do.

C. Cancel coverage completely -which, when he notified us that was his intention, we did.

Once Mr. [redacted] notified us that he was placing coverage elsewhere, we notified our carriers, so that he would not be charged a premium by any insurance carrier through our office, for the policy term which began on March 31, 2013.

Page 2 -[redacted]

The "threatening letters that Mr. [redacted] refers to are simply standard letters that we send to all of our clients, when their policies are due to be cancelled.

As a courtesy, one of our representatives also left Mr. [redacted] a voice message that his policy was about to cancel for nonpayment of premium -again, solely as a courtesy, and nothing different than we do with our other accounts.

Mr. [redacted]'s allegation that our agency offered the alternate coverage based upon the fact that I am on [redacted] Insurance Group's producer council is also false. In the past, I have served a similar capacity with other insurance carriers, including [redacted] Insurance Company.

HWP Insurance has been in business since 1947, and to my knowledge, this is the first complaint of any type that has been filed against us. Quite frankly, I'm perplexed by Mr. [redacted]'s allegations -as we were simply trying to present him with another option on his home insurance that would save him money. The only thing I can conclude is that it was a misunderstanding on his part, and had he taken the time to contact our office and speak to a representative, this misunderstanding could have been avoided.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The facts stand for themselves. HWP went

as far as to notify my lender that I had switched the insurance to [redacted]. See the

attached letter from my lender. This is totally false and unfounded. The facts

are the FACTS and HWP got caught!

Fact

1: Letter from my lender stating that [redacted] is my insurer. FALSE

Fact

2: Letter from [redacted] thanking me for choosing to insure with them. From the

letter: "I am delighted to welcome you as a policy client. Now that your

insurance agent has helped you make this choice...." FALSE I never

authorized HWP to switch my insurance to [redacted] and had no contact with HWP about

"choosing" [redacted]. HWP provided this information without my knowledge or

approval. See attached letter.

Fact

3: Letter from HWP stating that my policy with [redacted] has cancelled due to non

payment. FALSE See fact 2 - Never had a policy to begin with.

Fact

4: I have at least 2 letters from HWP threading claiming I might be liable for

earned premiums if I don't renew my policy. How does HWP earn premiums on a

policy that never existed? See letter from Fact 3.

Mr.

[redacted] puts responsibility on myself for this issue. What a business did 10 years ago has nothing to do with their actions of the last 6 month. Mr. [redacted] failed to acknowlede the actions of his agency. He got caught and does

not want to accept responsibility for his actions or actions of his agency.

Mr.

[redacted] needs to review what the Revdex.com is all about. His organization lacks the qualities

that the Revdex.com tries to promote in their members. Simply view the facts. The

letters and actions are those of his agency. He needs to take responsibility

for those actions, unlike his response. Blame blame blame!

The

facts are other than what Mr. [redacted] claims them to be. All of this has been

generated by the actions of his agency, yet he blames me for everything.

Perhaps he needs to take a course in business ethics.

Regards,

Business

Re: [redacted] 10 #[redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

I am in receipt of Mr. [redacted]'s letter of May 8,2013, in regards to the above matter.

Let me begin by saying that our agency handles the insurace needs of several thousand individuals and businesses. Again, to my knowledge, since we have been in business since 1947, this is the first complaint that has ever been filed against us with the Revdex.com. I think our track record speaks for itself.

The facts are:

Mr. [redacted] has had his insurance with our agency for over 10 years.

In an effort to provide Mr. [redacted] with the broadest coverage at the best premium, on his latest reneweal, we offered him an alternative insurance program that would have saved him money, and provide him broader coverage.

We pre-notified Mr. [redacted] of the alternative insurance offering.

Mr. [redacted] was given the option of choosing (1) to remain with his prior carrier, [redacted], or

(2) change to the new carrier, [redacted], or (3) choose neither plan. The choice was always his.

Mr. [redacted] never responded to our office until after the policy was issued, even though a letter had been sent, and a representative from our office left him a phone message.

We followed up with phone calls on 04/11/13 and 04/15/13 to Mr [redacted], neither of which was returned or responded to.

Coverage notification was sent to the lender, as it has been for the past 10 years, to make sure that Mr. [redacted]'s insurance requrements with the lender were satisfied, and to prevent the carrier from placing forced coverage on Mr. [redacted]'s property.

Once Mr. [redacted] notified our office that he chose to take his coverage elsewhere, we immediately cancelled all coverage through our agency flat.

Mr. [redacted] has not been charged any premium from our agency for the policies in question.

Quite frankly, I'm confused as to the resolution that Mr. [redacted] seeks from this complaint, as he has not been charged a premium, and coverage with our agency has been cancelled. I would be more than happy to meet with Mr. [redacted] in the presence of a Revdex.com representative, to try to resolve this situation.

Regards, [redacted]
