I had my A/C unit services on June 12, 2020. The technicians tune up the unit on the outside and then I asked him if he needed to go upstairs. He said no, which I thought was ironic because prior technicians went upstairs following a tune up. On Tuesday, June 22, I realized that mt A/C was leaking! I panicked because I didn't know what to do as I was scheduled to travel on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, I contacted the company who initially installed the unit. He informed me that the drain was clogged and needed to be flushed. I asked him if this service is part of the summer tune up and he said yes. I immediately called Haugstand Heating and Cooling as they completed the tune up.
I spoke with Susan, manager, and she informed me that the service I received was basic and what I should have asked for was the works, which costs $120.00 for an hour! Mind you, I've used Haugstaud previously with no problems and the technician went upstairs to check the unit. I explained to her that annually, I tune up my AC and winterize my heating system to prevent situations like this! She apologized and said that I should have called them. I told her that in the moment, I wasn't thinking but that is not good business. As a business owner, she should have explained to me the options I had. This was extremely negligent and it has cost me a lot of unneccesary money during this pandemic.

ON JUNE 12 2020 WE DID A QUICK CLEANING OF A CONDENSER UNIT OUTSIDE FOR 60 DOLLARS THAT WE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST A FULL TUNE UP IS 120 THAT COVERS BLOWING OUT DRAIN LINES ,REPLACING ANY CAP AND TOPPING OFF FREON ,*** HAD A PROBLEMS WEEK LATER SHE HAD PROBLEM OF LEAKING AND CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY WHICH CAME OUT CHARGED HER 125 TO BLOW HER DRAIN LINES OUT ONLY ,WHEN SHE CONTACTED OUR COMPANY AFTER THE FACT OF PAYING ANOTHER COMPANY I ASKED HER WHY SHE DIDNT CALL US ,WE ARE IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD AND WE DID DO A QUICK CLEANING OF CONDENSER AND WOULD HAVE CLEANED HER DRAIN OUT AND FINISHED THE TUNE UP WITH A FULL TUNE UP FOR THE BALANCE OF 60 DOLLARS SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHY SHE DIDN'T CALL US BUT WANTED US TO PAY FOR THE OTHER COMPANY BILL I DID OFFER OTHER SERVICE FOR FREE FOR HER INCONVENIENCE AND TOLD HER NEXT TIME WE WOULD DO A FULL MAINTENANCE AT DISCOUNTED RATE OF 90 DOLLARS THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS GOOD SO IM KIND OF SHOCK SHE CONTACTED THE BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU,THOUGHT ISSUES WERE SOLVED IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS PLEASE CONTACT SUSAN HAUGSTAD HEATING AND COOLING

I am rejecting this response because:
As a result of not checking the system as the company had done in years prior, I’ve incurred over $2,000 in damage!! I felt confident that the maintenance would have been completed in a professional manner. When the owner cleaned it 2 years ago, he went upstairs and at least checked the system out. If there was a problem, he said he would inform me. When I asked the gentleman if he needed to go upstairs he said no. If he went upstairs and detected a problem, we could’ve discussed it and I would’ve paid for the additional services.
I have functional knowledge regarding AC and heating systems. My recollection is based on previous experiences. Part of the customer service process is to ensure that customers are knowledgeable of the services they are purchasing and offer suggestions and/or solutions regarding the merchandise. With that said, Haugstad has to take responsibility for this unfortunate situation
