Review: My wife and I contacted Mr. [redacted], owner of Havex Tax Service, and set up an appointment to complete our personal tax returns. We scheduled the appointment in the evening and he advised he will come to my home to complete. He showed up to the appointment over 30 minutes late as well as his grandson without notice. He set up his equipment and started to enter all our personal financial information into his computer. At the end of the appoinment there were a few questions I needed to get answered by outside sources so we ended with a copy of the tax returns as he had it. He took a portion of our w-2s as well as scanned other financial documents into his computer. When he left we agreed I will contact him with the final information and decide which status to use when he files our taxes. I called him back about 4 weeks later to clarify a few pieces of information and get the tax return filed. He did not answer and I was forced to leave a voicemail. I waited over a week with no return call. I finally called him again, 12 days prior to the tax day, only to hear him say that he received my original voicemail and decided he was not going to do our taxes. He stated that my questions about which option provided the best tax refund for my family was too much work and he would not make enough money off of us. When I expressed concern that he would make a decision and then not even call us back, while valuable time was wasting to get a new person working on our taxes, he said that he had to strike while the iron is hot and so he didn't have enough time to call us. He said the only options were for me to file an extension and he will get to ours when he has time, or we can get someone else to prepare them. He has all our important financial information including original documents, agreed to finish the taxes and then left my family and I scrambling at the last minute to find a new tax preparer. He exchanged my families commitment and his word for more money. The extemely unprofessional and unethical manner in which he handled our business leaves me concerned that he has all our personal financial information.Desired Settlement: I have requested that [redacted] return all of our financial documents he took from our appointment as well as delete all our personal information from his computer.
