RESPONSE TO Revdex.com COMPLAINT ID [redacted]   In response to the complaint regarding Associates in Mental Health billing/collection issues, I disagree with most of the statements made by the complainant.    The complainant was initially seen in our office for an evaluation on May 13,...

2016.  When the appointment was made, no mention was made as to the nature of the evaluation requested.  Later through his attorney we found that the evaluation was necessary as part of an ongoing case regarding an Order of Protection, his ex-wife and children.   The complainant gave the doctor permission to see his ex-wife regarding him and on his account on May 19, 2019.  These charges were submitted to insurance and applied to the patient’s deductible.   On May 20, 2016, the complainant WAS in the office and did have an appointment with the doctor.  We have the doctors’ notes on record as well as the patient’s signature on the billing sheet dated May 20, 2016.  Once again, the charges were submitted to insurance and applied to the complainant’s deductible.    The additional $400 charge on May 20, 2016 was for an evaluation letter to his attorney which the complainant wanted and agreed to pay for to use in his case.  As you can note from the close dates, all of this had to happen in a hurry and we accommodated the request.  This charge is not a charge that is billed to or paid by insurance and that was discussed up front.   The patient was mailed monthly statements from June 2016 through July 2017.  He also received a letter in March 2016 and a second collection letter in April 2016.  In late June 2016 we left a voice mail at the complainant’s phone number to call or the case would be sent to collections.  Finally in mid-August the account was sent to collections.    In summary, the complainant’s wishes were honored to have us provide a service and to accomplish it within a few days.  We billed insurance for him appropriately and the charges were applied to the patient’s deductible.  Rightfully the charges on the account do belong to the complainant.    Once we did not get a response to repeated billings and letters, the account was sent to outside collections as we said we would.  According to the outside collection agency, the complainant stated to them that he did not even see the doctor and since that first call he hasn’t returned their phone calls.  They are also sending him notices that he is not responding to.   RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: [redacted], Office Manager
