options to the customer to accommodate both of our schedules and the customer was unavailable. A year after the job was completed, the customer put in a complaint. The customer was repeatedly told not to drill their own holes. Yes, our company painted the customers cabinets a year ago in 2016. The customer contacted us in August of 2015. Over the next ten months, the customer and our company communicated. Over this time, our company repeatedly instructed the customer not to drill their own holes and not to remove their own hardware. The customer repeatedly apologized for their delays, for not getting back to us, that price was a concern, that they were sorry they kept getting sidetracked. The customer repeatedly asked for ways to save money by doing part of the work themselves. The customer consists of a husband and a wife. We were very clear that if they did any of those things the job could become a nightmare. We explained our process thoroughly. We kept suggesting times to meet and the customer was unavailable several times. The finalizing of the job details took place with consistent communication, the contract was finalized and agreed upon by the customer (including hardware and drill holes) and a year later the work began. The holes we drilled were in alignment as to the agreement. The contract specified the work to be completed including the hardware and the hardware placement. After the job was completed, the customer was happy. Then the customer changed their mind and changed their hardware to a longer hardware on one side cabinet with two doors. Free of charge, we removed the agreed upon hardware in the one cabinet, patched the agreed upon drill holes that were already completed, filled and repainted the one cabinet with two doors and attached the new and for different hardware. The customer changed the hardware size on one cabinet with two doors after the job was completed. Our company took the time to accommodate them, free of charge. The customer was repeatedly told not to drill their own holes. Due to the customer changing the hardware after the job was completed, drilling their own holes and then attaching different hardware themselves, they are unsatisfied with their result. We are unable to compensate a customer for work that was free of charge after the customer changed their mind. We are unable to compensate a customer for work that they completed themselves. We are saddened that it has come to this.
