Hawley Auto Body & Paint Reviews (1)

Review: Initially, I dropped off my vehicle for body repair to the front passenger side fender, general rust removal and complete repainting on May 17th 2013. I was given the estimate by Don, the President of Hawley Auto for approximately $6,830 and I was told that the vehicle would be complete in 2 to 3 weeks. Also, on that date, I made a down payment of $2,500 for the repairs. I had not heard from anyone at Hawley in the time estimated to me, so I became concerned and visited the shop on numerous occasions thereafter. During my visits, I was always assured that the car was being worked on and that it would be ready in a week or so. I had not received any contact from anyone at Hawley Auto until over a month after I had dropped off the car when [redacted] the VP, called to let me know that the vehicle was primed and ready to paint. On Friday, June 31 and again on Mon. July 1st, I stopped by the shop and told [redacted] that I am leaving on a business trip for two weeks and that if the vehicle is not done by Friday the 5th, I will be unavailable to pick up the car after it is done. I received a call from [redacted] on July 3rd saying that the vehicle is ready. I went to pick it up and there I met with [redacted] and [redacted] and they said that I should bring the vehicle back after my business trip because it is not totally done yet. I would not be filing this complaint if it were merely a matter of taking longer, even a lot longer with the repairs than they told me it would take. I am filing this complaint because of all the reasons listed below. At the shop I noticed a few things that I was disappointed about the quality of the service that was performed but I really took notice once I brought the vehicle home. The list of items that I am disappointed and upset about is as follows:

I was told the job would take 2-3 weeks, Hawley had my vehicle for 7 weeks and it is still not completely done.

The repair to the front passenger side fender is not even...it does not match the undamaged side, and the paint over the repair has a run.

There is still an area of surface rust under the front windshield on the passenger side. It seems to me, the areas of rust under the windshield that were supposedly fixed were simply painted over and not properly corrected.

The driver's side door weather stripping was installed inside out.

The interior panel on the rear hatch has mounting screws that were removed and not replaced.

The brake light bulbs in the high mount brake light were all broken and left as shards and filaments sticking out of their housing.

The emblems on the rear of the car were remounted with simply double sided tape that is already beginning to fail.

The headliner above the windshield was left detached and hanging down.

A pair of portable, rechargeable speakers were stolen from the glove box of the vehicle. While the speakers are really not expensive, I am truly disappointed that items would be stolen from my vehicle & that such a supposedly reputable business would employ thieves.

Generally, the vehicle looks good but in looking at the details, the quality of service is simply disappointing. While I brought up some of these issues to [redacted] and [redacted] when I was picking up the vehicle, [redacted] seemed to listen to what I was concerned about and offered to make some corrections, but [redacted] is always very dismissive about my concerns, even to the point of interrupting what I was saying and talking over me, which I considered an incredibly rude thing to do to a customer.Desired Settlement: I paid for an outstanding job...I feel that I got far less than what I paid for. Either do the excellent job that I paid for and do it in time, or I'd like a refund.

Dear Revdex.com:

[redacted] has been back to our shop since his complaint was filed on 7/3/13. When he returned to our shop I informed him that unfortunely he misunderstood the completion arrangements for his vehicle. He did not understand that several areas of his eventual concern were in fact going to be fully taken care of when he infact returned to our shop after his paint had fully dried. This was to be approximately 2 weeks after his pick up date of the vehicle on 7/3/13. [redacted] was very kind and appologetic when I explained this too him. He told me he wished that his misunderstanding hadn't led to him filing a complaint in error. He also said he wished there was a way to remove his complaint. I told him that I appreciated his kind works and business greatly and not to worry about a thing. That we offer a lifetime warrantee on any repairs we perforn and that perhaps he just hadn't been treated as fairly and just in the past at other repair shops. Not all auto body businesses do the high quality repairs and offer the same fantastic lifetime guarantee that we do at Hawley Auto Body. This complaint has been resolved fully.
