Hayden's Recreational Vehicles, Inc. Reviews (1)

I entered into an agreement with Hayden’s RV to replace brakes, if necessary, on all 4 wheels of our 14,000 pound fifth wheel camper. Upon inspection, Hayden’s determined that all four brakes needed replacement and proceeded with the repair which cost a bit more than $700.

Shortly after the repairs were completed, my wife and I took a week long camping trip to New York. On the way to New York, the brakes did not feel right and were not stopping the camper as they had in the past. The return trip from New York through the mountains of central Pennsylvania was very challenging as the trailer was not stopping as it should have – despite the new brakes.

On our way home from New York, we stopped at a Virginia campground where I went under the camper and noticed grease coming out from one of the wheels. I knew that a defective grease seal had been installed or that it had been ruptured when the wheel bearings were repacked. I finally knew why the camper was not stopping as it was supposed to – the brake shoe(s) were coated in grease. Grease on brake components, which severely limits the capability of the brakes, is simply put – extremely dangerous.

I contacted the owner of Hayden’s and expressed my concerns, which were ignored. I followed up with a phone text requesting a return phone call which was never received. We also placed a second call to the co-owner of Hayden’s who wrote down pertinent information and promised to get back to us. We never heard another word from this dealership.

Since the owners of Hayden’s were unresponsive, I took the camper to another service facility. Techs at that facility found that all of the grease seals were ruptured on all wheels and had been damaged during installation which allowed grease from the bearings to coat the brake shoes and other brake components. The service facility replaced all of the plastic grease seals with metal ones, replaced the grease saturated brake shoes with new ones, and repacked the wheel bearings. This repair was an additional $600, but has since been reimbursed through a credit card dispute resolution process.

I will never have any future dealings with Hayden’s RV and am unable to recommend their service department for any type of RV repairs. I would steer clear of this dealership for any type of RV repair.
