[redacted] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Haynes: The $check that was asked for was a deposit for a deck that the ***'s wanted to build on their houseThat money was used for material research and have a structural engineer design said deckThey were advised that we would refund the money but since we are going to refund the deposit they will not be allowed to see or get copies of the plans that we have paid the engineer to design Our response: If [redacted] is really honest about returning our money, the $5000, he should just return it He told me on Sept20, that he would return itWhy has he been holding on to our money since Dec2016? It is ridiculous that he is making us wait almost a year and still has not returned it Why didn’t you return the money then? We contacted you for months via texts, emails and phone calls When we said we’re going to sue you, contact lawyer, and Revdex.com? You said you would “consider” giving back our money, but certainly didn’t tell us that you definitely would This was in October, months after we were contacting you for any sort of updateNow that our lawyer has contacted you, we do hope you follow through, because we also plan to follow through to sue you to get it back We expect fairness and honesty from a company, neither of which we got from youYou make many claims that you have explained things to us, but you never did I have outlined those things below [redacted] has taken $from us in December 2016, to have “an architect draw plans” for our deck, and for purchasing materials We were never told we had to pay [redacted] to do research on the materials, if we had been told this we would have asked what it would have cost This is something he is making up after the fact The owner was then immediately called out of state to assist with disaster relief in Texas before he was able to provide said refund and has not been back as of yetThey waterfall was not completely rebuilt, we did have to redirect the lower portion due to a hole that had been put in the liner and we did advise them of this matterIt is news to us that there was a hole in the liner – you absolutely did not advise about this matter Your exact words to me were “we want to rebuild the waterfall for you In hindsight I would have built it differently” You simply said this when we asked why, and that you wanted to rebuilt the waterfall for us for freeYou said this to us on many occasions, a little while after you built it, before you actually did it We were wondering amongst ourselves why you were doing thisAnd thank you now for letting us knowWe were truly unaware as to the reason The landscape light in question are under a warranty with the manufacturer, we sent someone out to check the system, as most of the time it is as simple as a tripped breaker, there was no tripped breakerThe employee that was dispatched to look at the landscape lighting asked the home owner if they could look at the breaker box for the house to make sure that there was no breaker tripped in it, they tripped that breaker and reset it to check the systemThe "alarm" in question is for a battery back up that the home owner has installed onto their garage door opener, the alarm was to signal that power had been lost and did not properly rest when power had been restoredWhen the breaker was tripped and rest again the battery back up acknowledged that power had been restored like it was supposed toThe transformer for the lighting system has malfunctioned we advised the home owner that the problem is with the transformer and that we have scheduled one of our electricians to come and address the issue and if need be warranty out the transformerThe home owner advised us that she did not want us on her property, the next day she called and stated that she wanted the lights taken care of but only wanted the business owner to come and resolve the issueYou are grossly misrepresenting the facts We were only told that you were sending an electrician on the morning [redacted] from your office called me on Oct 18, The rest of the information you are mentioning, i.e., regarding the transformer was never brought up to usIn fact, this is news to us You have not come to work on our lights since you sent [redacted] out to trip our circuit breaker Why then, do you suddenly know that it is the transformer which is causing the problem? Why did you send [redacted] out here that day? He claimed he knows nothing except how to turn on/off the circuit breaker In fact, [redacted] (your secretary?), is who you called out to our house in the first place to “work” on our lights, after months of us asking you to please look at themHe had no idea what he was doing He even admitted that besides resetting the circuit breaker, everything else regarding the lighting system was out of his area of expertise It was really frustrating when he set off the alarm too, on top of never fixing anything I said simply that we first need our money back before we can proceed with having Haynes fix anything else on our propertyWe were working with a lawyer on the $5k check issue, in fact we met with him later that same day on 10/18/I said, that after the money is returned, we would like Haynes to fix the things that are going wrong with the work he did at our house, but in the meantime, we are also hiring our own people to look at the work Haynes did Again, I want only someone competent to come to our home to do work, not someone [redacted] hires to show up at our door who has no clue how to do the work We don’t care if it is the owner, [redacted] , or not Again, just someone who is competent, someone who understands and can fix the problemAfter our experience with [redacted] , we hired our own electricians and they have been mentioning that Haynes possibly overloaded the transformer and hooked up different voltage lighting to the same lead, something that isn’t recommended The way they set it up indicated that Haynes overloaded it, and yes, it looks like we need a new transformerThese are a few reasons we are calling into question the compentency of [redacted] and his companyFurther, we were told the tape Haynes used to cover the electrical lines is not the best, and water may leak in them, causing a small static shock We have small children who like to play in the waterfall area, and upon asking [redacted] on numerous occasions if they can play there without causing any damage to themselves or the landscaping, he said “they can play and won’t hurt anything” She was advised that the owner of the company was in Texas doing Hurricane relief work for FEMA and that since she only wants him to respond that it would be an unknown duration of time before he was able to come back to Missouri as due to the FEMA work that he is doing he can only leave when they say he can leave I didn’t care who responded, [redacted] or someone else I only cared that, after the lighting incident, that someone COMPETENT comes to do work at our homeThis issue has been going on much longer that [redacted] has been doing work for FEMAIn fact, our lighting issue started back in May 2017, which is when we first contacted [redacted] to say we are having issuesThe hurricane work is now an excuse for [redacted] to use, but his behavior has had the same pattern since the beginning of In fact, it is the hurricane victims we are concerned about - that [redacted] may be taking monetary advantage of their situation, as he is doing to usWe sincerely hope that the Revdex.com prints our concerns about Haynes Outdoor Solutions so anyone looking up this company can be aware of the danger of having [redacted] do work for them without a contract We hope to receive [redacted] has been holding on to nearly year with claims that he will return it, however, he has not We do not at all agree with the A+ rating his company is given, and we hope the Revdex.com considers dropping this rating of this questionable company This is our experience with Haynes Outdoor Solutions When we build their custom made play area they were advised since it is made of wood and not composite material that it would need yearly maintenance as wood products that are exposed to the elements doSorry, I think you missed the point We are not complaining about maintaining the wood We are questioning the quality of the structure we got for the price we paid, you charged us in total around $13,or more We are wondering why our initial concerns regarding its lack of symmetry (outlined below) were not addressed We are questioning you and your company based on an assessment we had gotten An engineer examined your work on the way the structure was built While you were in the process of building it, we mentioned that it didn’t look alignedThis was the engineers comment also upon examination In fact, these are some of his findings: “Railing posts (and most construction) are with lag screws and not bolted through Materials of constructiona Untreated wood (even for ground contact posts)b Grade of wood (there is an unusual amount of warping, twisting and surface cracking) Deck board spacing is inconsistent and reaches ½ inch wide in some instances (1/inch is standard) Spindle spacing is too wide (approximately inches)Should be inches Swing hardware is attached via lag screwsShould be bolted through Overall construction (crooked)a Nothing is verticalb Nothing is horizontal (except pergola section)c Walkways are not perpendicular to each otherd Deck boards not perpendicular to walkways” In a nutshell he was astounded at the cost of the swingset and said we did not get our money’s worthWe were told we were getting a top quality swingset, which would last much , much longer than any store bought swingset But we are told it is already warping, and many of these issues were brought up to [redacted] (alignment and concerns with deck board spacing), he explained them away, saying nothing more could be doneWe aren’t so sure we believe him in hindsight Regarding the Irrigation System it was not turned off it was programmed, as it should have been, to run times a week and for 5-min depending on the zone, which is adequate for the type of turf, yard grade, climate and region that we are inWe checked the programmed of the irrigation control system and it had been changed to run twice a day for hour per zoneThe standard practice of irrigation to water more frequently for a shorter amount of time to promote a healthier turf, I.E min per zone once a day, as this promotes healthier root growthNo one touched the system except Haynes Outdoor Solutions In fact, initially you misprogrammed it, and our neighbors were the ones who caught your error and said our plants were dying because you had not even properly turned the system on! I can assure you that the one hour error was done by you or your company, as you are the only one touching the knobs on the systemNo one else knew how to use it, or bothered to try to use it, as we had thought you had set it properly Our newborn baby was born in May 2017, and we got sidetracked and were too busy to notice the high water bills or mess with a new sprinkler system, which is why it went on for months after we noticed [redacted] mis-set it Your error cost us months (before we caught it) of water bills in excess of $350, sometimes more that $per month! As you don’t come monthly to do the monthly check that you initially verbally promised us, you didn’t catch this either We have tried our best to keep the home owner up to date with when the owner will be be able to return, she has been very rude and hateful towards our Office Administrator every time she speaks with him either via phone or email communicationTo [redacted] and his company: You truly lack courtesy in keeping us up to date about anything In fact, we are finally learning many things , after the fact , from this write up You claim you told us, but in fact we have been kept in the dark about a lot of issues which we directly question you about Your responses, if we get any at all, are very evasive We have been stern recently so you can know we are serious about you being fairWouldn’t you be irritated if someone stole $5k from you, and keeps saying they will return it, however, going on almost a year later they are still holding on to your money? However, being rude and hateful is a serious mischaracterization of our contact with you, especially considering how many chances we have offered you to reconcile your actions After a long time, we decided that we will no longer continue giving you the benefit of the doubt, and would like some clear answers to our concerns And most of all, our money returned in full ($5000)This is not all we think we are owed, however Given the mistakes [redacted] and his company have made, and charged us to fix, the lawyer fees to just get our $5k returned, the time and energy we have had to expend to contact [redacted] and follow up and then finally review all of his work and now fix it, have cost us far more than $ But at least that, [redacted] has received a letter from our lawyer, we need returned immediately before we pursue the next legal actionLet us be clear that we have nothing against [redacted] or his company We support local companies in Columbia and are happy to give business to them We were advised to use other companies no one heard of you, but we gave you benefit of doubt. We took a chance on [redacted] based on a recommendation from our lawn care teamInitially, since mid-2015, and until very recently, we were happy with the work [redacted] did We did question along the way, some of the things he was doing But after he would give us some explanation, we would believe him and continue having him do work for usWe always paid him right away, no questions asked, and that was really, truly our mistakeGoing back through his billing, we are seeing so many instance that we were taken advantage of Until the recent issues we have been having, we have been very nice and very patient with [redacted] (even though we had some issues prior, we gave [redacted] a lot of the benefit of the doubt and overlooked many things we would bring up and he would explain away) There is no doubt about this Around September 20, 2017, [redacted] came to our house promising to look at our lights, which he had installed in our front yard, but for months they had not been working For months, we had been asking [redacted] very politely, to please come to take a look at them and saying we would like them fixed In fact, it was a huge disappointment to us,that we wanted to see them light up during the solar eclipse so we could take photos, but [redacted] never responded to our many requests for him to please come to our home for fix the issue Finally, on Sept20th, he came In our driveway, I very politely mentioned our concerns about the lights, our swingset, which seems to be warping and needing repainted, amongst other issues, and also asked [redacted] that we had set up a meeting with him a while prior to him finally coming to our house, but he never showed up I asked him to please let us know if he can’t make a meeting, because we set aside our own plans to meet him Lastly, I brought up the $ He said if he can continue to keep our business, he would return the money I stated that we want to be fair, and we think we should get the money back, but if he can show us the plans (as he promised to do in Aug2016, and claimed he “needed to just convert the plans to PDF and then would send them”) we can at least know that he has used our money in some way toward the deck He claimed that he used the money to pay himself for research on materials I said, can you please outline what the for your research was, what were the results, and also, the name of the architect you had draw the plans and the amount they cost? He said he would do it in the evening He also stated “I’m sorry I’m not the person I want to be since I got sick” It was Wed., Sept26th But [redacted] provided me with neither Nor did he respond to any calls or questions even a month later (until now) regarding this Regarding the lights: we have hired our own electrician now to fix the lights It was ridiculous to us that when [redacted] came on Sept 20, as soon as I left to run an errand, I believe he left too Because we never heard anything and our lights dind’t work, nor did [redacted] bother to return calls when we questioned what was going on regarding our lights getting fixed In fact, the lights lighting up our flag were working when [redacted] came, along with lights on the left side of our house, but didn’t work when he left So we had to take down our American flag More than a month later, our lights still don’t work! [redacted] s says he has us “in the books” for someone to come look at our lights When someone finally does come, he tells me the only thing he knows how to do is to trip our circuit breaker and anything else is out of his area of expertise It was so ridiculous that we were waiting so long, and this is the person [redacted] sends out to us It was almost like he was playing games with us! It seemed like it So until then we were patient, but started getting irritated And we made it clear to [redacted] and his secretary (who I think is the person he sent out to us to fix our lights) that we were upset I was not hateful, just being stern that we are unhappy with his work and we thought it was ridiculous that he doesn’t return calls, still had our money and doesn’t fulfill his promises to meet us nor to fix his work We were promised [redacted] would come the following Monday or Tuesday He again didn’t show up, and there was no call to explain whether or not he would come Much later, on October 18, 2017, we had met with our lawyer and [redacted] s secretary ( [redacted] ?) called to let me know an electrician was coming that morning I told him, we wanted first our money back from [redacted] and second, we were having trouble with our sprinkler system now, which [redacted] had set up and by mistake shut off, (this was the second time he has made this mistake) and I want [redacted] to fix it because it was really when we tried to do it ourselves or have our neighbor help us That was the only reason I wanted [redacted] himself to see what he had done to shut off our sprinker system Otherwise, we just requested, that as soon as [redacted] returns our $5k, that we would like them to fix the errors of their work and the issues we are having, and to please send someone who is competent We paid a lot of money for our landscaping, lighting, flagpole, swingset and sprinkler system install The many projects we allowed [redacted] to do should be evidence of our sincerity in trying to support his company But we don’t want to be taken advantage of by having money stolen from us as [redacted] has done! [redacted] mistakenly also set up our sprinklers to go for an hour For months, we found we were paying enormouse water bills Though it was [redacted] ’s mistake, he blamed [redacted] for it I asked [redacted] about it, and they said they have nothing to do with the sprinkler systemAgain, we expect fairness and honestyHe also told me that he went to dinner with his wife on the evening he was supposed to meet us (and didn’t show up - this was a meeting about weeks before 9/20) nor was there any follow up from his end [redacted] claims the night he was supposed to meet us, his wife asked him to keep his cell phone in his car while they went out to dinner, which he claims he did He said when he returned he had like calls and messages I think he was trying explain away as to why he didn’t follow up with us We feel, quite frankly, that [redacted] gets the money and doesn’t care about followup This is not our complaint only, in fact, this has been also posted online by other customersI will present the facts only We again, don’t hold any personal grudge against [redacted] nor his company We do expect him, however, to be fair Which is far from what he has been, thus we have been forced to spend valuable time and money contacting first, and many, many times, [redacted] and his company for an explanation of where our money is, or why we don’t have the design or anything (since December 2016!!) after he cashed our $5k check After hearing no response from [redacted] regarding this (as per usual is his habit), we contacted our lawyer, the Revdex.com, [redacted] ***, our bank, and tried to find as much information as possible about peoples’ experience about [redacted] and his company We tried giving [redacted] many, many opportunities to respond to us and tried many, many times in many different ways (phone calls, emails, texts, speaking with his secretary) to give [redacted] a chance to give us our money back Nothing seemed to have worked, thus we had to take the next proper step, to contact the Revdex.com and also our lawyer We have since told people to whom we recommended [redacted] to, that we no longer recommend him All this has taken up so much useless time and energy, and if [redacted] is really honest about returning the $check, he should just return the money It is going on almost one year now that he has been holding on to the money That is the main reason we have contacted the Revdex.com and have had our lawyer send him a letter requesting the return of this money that he has been holding on to since December But there are many other things we are now finding out about the quality of his work (we were told we were receiving the best quality for our money, so that is one of the main reasons we were paying so much) We now question from the many issues we are having with [redacted] s work, that did we really receive what we paid for Plus, on hearing about his warranty offer, it was a big incentive to hire [redacted] , but we don’t even get maintenance calls returned, and this was much before the hurricanes hit FL and TX We wish people can be aware of our experiences before they hire [redacted] or his company I will quote [redacted] from an email in Feb2016: [redacted] *** [redacted] *** [redacted] *** [redacted] *** [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] *** [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] *** [redacted] *** [redacted] [redacted] *** [redacted] [redacted] *** [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] *** [redacted] Since this year that [redacted] has not been getting back to us about our $check, we have also been having issues with their work on our swingset and also our landscape lighting We have had many, many problems with the waterfall they built for usWe have begun to question him and his company and the quality of their work, and the things they tell us regarding the quality of the materials we are getting In December 2016, we have had an engineer check [redacted] ’s work and provide us a review of the quality For the price we paid, he was astounded at lack of quality we got for the swingset [redacted] builtWe didn’t know that we were being made fools of, but this was quite irritating, that we were told he had the best quality materials and assumed [redacted] was being honest when he billed us for the hours of work We had issues during the building of his swingset But he explained them away by saying he couldn’t do anything to make it better We were charged when they had to fix a mistake they made, and upon reviewing the invoices, this is definitely clear : they charged us to fix work that they made mistakes on We have the emails and invoices to prove it We just question [redacted] ’s treatment of his customers after he collects their money This is not only our complaint, in fact you can see this online, and we have heard also that [redacted] does not return maintenance calls for the work he has done after you pay himThere are complaints online and from what we have heard, that he doesn’t do contracts and gets away with a lot of his verbal promises For example, he promised us warranty on all his work when he first started working for us, for as long as we keep [redacted] as our lawn care team In 2016, [redacted] started asking us if he can take over our lawn care Recently, upon asking [redacted] about the warranty and mentioning to them that we were asked by [redacted] to take over our lawn care, it was a big surprise to them Apparently, [redacted] had a “handshake agreement” with [redacted] to refer customers to one another and they wouldn’t step into each other’s domain Since learning this, [redacted] has decided to cut off all ties with [redacted] and his company Haynes Outdoor Solutions There are more details to what he has done regarding his agreements with [redacted] ***, but since it is not the topic, I’m using this as one exampleMany customers have complained that [redacted] simply doesn’t return callsWe have the same experience, not only does he not return calls, but he sets up meetings and never shows up and doesn’t contact you to let you know anything You as the customer have to keep following up to figure out what in the world is going with [redacted] and his companyWe don’t think [redacted] should continue getting away with it We are happy to provide the Revdex.com the letter from our lawyer which was sent to Haynes Sincerely, [redacted] ***

03/08/The mediator left a VM message for the CONS.03/08/(The mediator spoke to the CONS.) I paid the BUS $5,in December of to build a deck. No work has been done and he does not return my phone calls. In the BUS' November response to the Revdex.com, the BUS promised to refund the money but he has not followed through on that promise. I have spoken to an attorney about this but have not filed a lawsuit yet. I will send supporting documents.03/15/The mediator discovered that the CONS has filed a small claims case against this BUS. The mediator left a detailed VM message for the CONS letting her know that we will need to end our efforts to resolve this dispute because of the pending court case

[redacted]Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:   Haynes: The $5000 check that was asked for was a deposit for a deck that the [redacted]'s wanted to build on their house. That money was used for material research and have a structural engineer design said deck. They were advised that we would refund the money but since we are going to refund the deposit they will not be allowed to see or get copies of the plans that we have paid the engineer to design.  Our response: If [redacted] is really honest about returning our money, the $5000, he should just return it.  He told me on Sept. 20, that he would return it. Why has he been holding on to our money since Dec. 2016?  It is ridiculous that he is making us wait almost a year and still has not returned it.  Why didn’t you return the money then?  We contacted you for months via texts, emails and phone calls.   When we said we’re going to sue you, contact lawyer, and Revdex.com?  You said you would “consider” giving back our money, but certainly didn’t tell us that you definitely would.  This was in October, months after we were contacting you for any sort of update. Now that our lawyer has contacted you, we do hope you follow through, because we also plan to follow through to sue you to get it back.  We expect fairness and honesty from a company, neither of which we got from you. You make many claims that you have explained things to us, but you never did.  I have outlined those things below.  [redacted] has taken $5000 from us in December 2016, to have “an architect draw plans” for our deck, and for purchasing materials.  We were never told we had to pay [redacted] to do research on the materials, if we had been told this we would have asked what it would have cost.  This is something he is making up after the fact.  The owner was then immediately called out of state to assist with disaster relief in Texas before he was able to provide said refund and has not been back as of yet. They waterfall was not completely rebuilt, we did have to redirect the lower portion due to a hole that had been put in the liner and we did advise them of this matter. It is news to us that there was a hole in the liner – you absolutely did not advise about this matter.  Your exact words to me were “we want to rebuild the waterfall for you.  In hindsight I would have built it differently” You simply said this when we asked why, and that you wanted to rebuilt the waterfall for us for free. You said this to us on many occasions, a little while after you built it,  before you actually did it.  We were wondering amongst ourselves why you were doing this. And thank you now for letting us know. We were truly unaware as to the reason.   The landscape light in question are under a warranty with the manufacturer, we sent someone out to check the system, as most of the time it is as simple as a tripped breaker, there was no tripped breaker. The employee that was dispatched to look at the landscape lighting asked the home owner if they could look at the breaker box for the house to make sure that there was no breaker tripped in it, they tripped that breaker and reset it to check the system. The "alarm" in question is for a battery back up that the home owner has installed onto their garage door opener, the alarm was to signal that power had been lost and did not properly rest when power had been restored. When the breaker was tripped and rest again the battery back up acknowledged that power had been restored like it was supposed to. The transformer for the lighting system has malfunctioned we advised the home owner that the problem is with the transformer and that we have scheduled one of our electricians to come and address the issue and if need be warranty out the transformer. The home owner advised us that she did not want us on her property, the next day she called and stated that she wanted the lights taken care of but only wanted the business owner to come and resolve the issue. You are grossly misrepresenting the facts.  We were only told that you were sending an electrician on the morning [redacted] from your office called me on Oct 18, 2017. The rest of the information you are mentioning, i.e., regarding the transformer was never brought up to us. In fact, this is news to us.  You have not come to work on our lights since you sent [redacted] out to trip our circuit breaker.  Why then, do you suddenly know that it is the transformer which is causing the problem?  Why did you send [redacted] out here that day?  He claimed he knows nothing except how to turn on/off the circuit breaker    In fact, [redacted] (your secretary?), is who you called out to our house in the first place to “work” on our lights, after months of us asking you to please look at them. He had no idea what he was doing.  He even admitted that besides resetting the circuit breaker, everything else regarding the lighting system was out of his area of expertise.   It was really frustrating when he set off the alarm too, on top of never fixing anything.  I said simply that we first need our money back before we can proceed with having Haynes fix anything else on our property. We were working with a lawyer on the $5k check issue,  in fact we met with him later that same day on 10/18/17. I said, that after the money is returned, we would like Haynes to fix the things that are going wrong with the work he did at our house, but in the meantime, we are also hiring our own people to look at the work Haynes did.  Again, I want only someone competent to come to our home to do work, not someone [redacted] hires to show up at our door who has no clue how to do the work.  We don’t care if it is the owner, [redacted], or not.  Again, just someone who is competent, someone who understands and can fix the problem. After our experience with [redacted], we hired our own electricians and they have been mentioning that Haynes possibly overloaded the transformer and hooked up different voltage lighting to the same lead, something that isn’t recommended.  The way they set it up indicated that Haynes overloaded it, and yes, it looks like we need a new transformer. These are a few reasons we are calling into question the compentency of [redacted] and his company. Further, we were told the tape Haynes used to cover the electrical lines is not the best, and water may leak in them, causing a small static shock.  We have small children who like to play in the waterfall area, and upon asking [redacted] on numerous occasions if they can play there without causing any damage to themselves or the landscaping, he said “they can play and won’t hurt anything”.    She was advised that the owner of the company was in Texas doing Hurricane relief work for FEMA and that since she only wants him to respond that it would be an unknown duration of time before he was able to come back to Missouri as due to the FEMA work that he is doing he can only leave when they say he can leave.  I didn’t care who responded, [redacted] or someone else.  I only cared that, after the lighting incident, that someone COMPETENT comes to do work at our home. This issue has been going on much longer that [redacted] has been doing work for FEMA. In fact, our lighting issue started back in May 2017, which is when we first contacted [redacted] to say we are having issues. The hurricane work is now an excuse for [redacted] to use,  but his behavior has had the same pattern since the beginning of 2017. In fact, it is the hurricane victims we are concerned about - that [redacted] may be taking monetary advantage of their situation, as he is doing to us. We sincerely hope that the Revdex.com prints our concerns about Haynes Outdoor Solutions so anyone looking up this company can be aware of the danger of having [redacted] do work for them without a contract.  We hope to receive [redacted] has been holding on to nearly 1 year with claims that he will return it, however, he has not.  We do not at all agree with the A+ rating his company is given, and we hope the Revdex.com considers dropping this rating of this questionable company.  This is our experience with Haynes Outdoor Solutions.  When we build their custom made play area they were advised since it is made of wood and not composite material that it would need yearly maintenance as wood products that are exposed to the elements do. Sorry, I think you missed the point.  We are not complaining about maintaining the wood.     We are questioning the quality of the structure we got for the price we paid, you charged us in total around $13,000 or more.  We are wondering why our initial concerns regarding its lack of symmetry (outlined below) were not addressed.  We are questioning you and your company based on an assessment we had gotten.   An engineer examined your work on the way the structure was built.  While you were in the process of building it, we mentioned that it didn’t look aligned. This was the engineers comment also upon examination.  In fact, these are some of his findings:  “Railing posts (and most construction) are with lag screws and not bolted through.2.       Materials of constructiona.       Untreated wood (even for ground contact posts)b.      Grade of wood (there is an unusual amount of warping, twisting and surface cracking)3.       Deck board spacing is inconsistent and reaches ½ inch wide in some instances (1/8 inch is standard)4.       Spindle spacing is too wide (approximately 7 inches). Should be 4 inches.5.       Swing hardware is attached via lag screws. Should be bolted through.6.       Overall construction (crooked)a.       Nothing is verticalb.      Nothing is horizontal (except pergola section)c.       Walkways are not perpendicular to each otherd.      Deck boards not perpendicular to walkways”  In a nutshell he was astounded at the cost of the swingset and said we did not get our money’s worth. We were told we were getting a top quality swingset, which would last much , much longer than any store bought swingset.  But we are told it is already warping, and many of these issues were brought up to [redacted] (alignment and concerns with deck board spacing), he explained them away, saying nothing more could be done. We aren’t so sure we believe him in hindsight.  Regarding the Irrigation System it was not turned off it was programmed, as it should have been, to run 3 times a week and for 5-7 min depending on the zone, which is adequate for the type of turf, yard grade, climate and region that we are in. We checked the programmed of the irrigation control system and it had been changed to run twice a day for 1 hour per zone. The standard practice of irrigation to water more frequently for a shorter amount of time to promote a healthier turf, I.E 15 min per zone once a day, as this promotes healthier root growth. No one touched the system except Haynes Outdoor Solutions.  In fact, initially you misprogrammed it, and our neighbors were the ones who caught your error and said our plants were dying because you had not even properly turned the system on! I can assure you that the one hour error was done by you or your company, as you are the only one touching the knobs on the system. No one else knew how to use it, or bothered to try to use it, as we had thought you had set it properly.  Our newborn baby was born in May 2017, and we got sidetracked and were too busy to notice the high water bills or mess with a new sprinkler system, which is why it went on for 5 months after we noticed [redacted] mis-set it.  Your error cost us 5 months (before we caught it) of water bills in excess of $350, sometimes more that $400 per month! As you don’t come monthly to do the monthly check that you initially verbally promised us, you didn’t catch this either.  We have tried our best to keep the home owner up to date with when the owner will be be able to return, she has been very rude and hateful towards our Office Administrator every time she speaks with him either via phone or email communication. To [redacted] and his company: You truly lack courtesy in keeping us up to date about anything.  In fact, we are finally learning many things , after the fact , from this write up.  You claim you told us, but in fact we have been kept in the dark about a lot of issues which we directly question you about.  Your responses, if we get any at all, are very evasive.  We have been stern recently so you can know we are serious about you being fair. Wouldn’t you be irritated if someone stole $5k from you, and keeps saying they will return it, however, going on almost a year later they are still holding on to your money?  However, being rude and hateful is a serious mischaracterization of our contact with you, especially considering how many chances we have offered you to reconcile your actions.   After a long time, we decided that we will no longer continue giving you the benefit of the doubt, and would like some clear answers to our concerns.  And most of all, our money returned in full ($5000). This is not all we think we are owed, however.  Given the mistakes [redacted] and his company have made, and charged us to fix, the lawyer fees to just get our $5k returned, the time and energy we have had to expend to contact [redacted] and follow up and then finally review all of his work and now fix it, have cost us far more than $5000.  But at least that, [redacted] has received a letter from our lawyer, we need returned immediately before we pursue the next legal action. Let us be clear that we have nothing against [redacted] or his company.  We support local companies in Columbia and are happy to give business to them.  We were advised to use other companies no one heard of you, but we gave you benefit of doubt. We took a chance on [redacted] based on a recommendation from our lawn care team. Initially, since mid-2015, and until very recently, we were happy with the work [redacted] did.  We did question along the way, some of the things he was doing.  But after he would give us some explanation, we would believe him and continue having him do work for us. We always paid him right away, no questions asked, and that was really, truly our mistake. Going back through his billing, we are seeing so many instance that we were taken advantage of.   Until the recent issues we have been having, we have been very nice and very patient with [redacted] (even though we had some issues prior, we gave [redacted] a  lot of the benefit of the doubt and overlooked many things we would bring up and he would explain away).  There is no doubt about this.  Around September 20, 2017, [redacted] came to our house promising to look at our lights, which he had installed in our front yard, but for months they had not been working.  For months, we had been asking [redacted] very politely, to please come to take a look at them and saying we would like them fixed.  In fact, it was a huge disappointment to us,that we wanted to see them light up during the solar eclipse so we could take photos, but [redacted] never responded to our many requests for him to please come to our home for fix the issue.  Finally, on Sept. 20th, he came.  In our driveway, I very politely mentioned our concerns about the lights, our swingset, which seems to be warping and needing repainted, amongst other issues, and also asked [redacted] that we had set up a meeting with him a while prior to him finally coming to our house, but he never showed up.  I asked him to please let us know if he can’t make a meeting, because we set aside our own plans to meet him.  Lastly, I brought up the $5000.  He said if he can continue to keep our business, he would return the money.  I stated that we want to be fair, and we think we should get the money back, but if he can show us the plans (as he promised to do in Aug. 2016, and claimed he “needed to just convert the plans to PDF and then would send them”) we can at least know that he has used our money in some way toward the deck.  He claimed that he used the money to pay himself for research on materials.  I said, can you please outline what the for your research was, what were the results, and also, the name of the architect you had draw the plans and the amount they cost?  He said he would do it in the evening.  He also stated “I’m sorry I’m not the person I want to be since I got sick”.  It was Wed., Sept. 26th.  But [redacted] provided me with neither.  Nor did he respond to any calls or questions even  a month later (until now) regarding this.    Regarding the lights: we have hired our own electrician now to fix the lights.  It was ridiculous to us that when [redacted] came on Sept 20, 2017 as soon as I left to run an errand, I believe he left too.  Because we never heard anything and our lights dind’t work, nor did [redacted] bother to return calls when we questioned what was going on regarding our lights getting fixed.  In fact, the lights lighting up our flag were working when [redacted] came, along with lights on the left side of our house, but didn’t work when he left.  So we had to take down our American flag.  More than a month later, our lights still don’t work!  [redacted]s says he has us “in the books” for someone to come look at our lights.  When someone finally does come, he tells me the only thing he knows how to do is to trip our circuit breaker and anything else is out of his area of expertise.  It was so ridiculous that we were waiting so long, and this is the person [redacted] sends out to us.  It was almost like he was playing games with us! It seemed like it.  So until then we were patient, but started getting irritated.  And we made it clear to [redacted] and his secretary (who I think is the person he sent out to us to fix our lights) that we were upset.  I was not hateful, just being stern that we are unhappy with his work and we thought it was ridiculous that he doesn’t return calls, still had our money and doesn’t fulfill his promises to meet us nor to fix his work.  We were promised [redacted] would come the following Monday or Tuesday.  He again didn’t show up, and there was no call to explain whether or not he would come.  Much later, on October 18, 2017, we had met with our lawyer and [redacted]s secretary ([redacted]?) called to let me know an electrician was coming that morning.  I told him, we wanted first our money back from [redacted] and second, we were having trouble with our sprinkler system now, which [redacted] had set up and by mistake shut off, (this was the second time he has made this mistake) and I want [redacted] to fix it because it was really when we tried to do it ourselves or have our neighbor help us.  That was the only reason I wanted [redacted] himself to see what he had done to shut off our sprinker system.  Otherwise, we just requested, that as soon as [redacted] returns our $5k, that we would like them to fix the errors of their work and the issues we are having, and to please send someone who is competent.  We paid a lot of money for our landscaping, lighting, flagpole, swingset and sprinkler system install.  The many projects we allowed [redacted] to do should be evidence of our sincerity in trying to support his company.  But we don’t want to be taken advantage of by having money stolen from us as [redacted] has done!  [redacted] mistakenly also set up our sprinklers to go for an hour.  For 5 months, we found we were paying enormouse water bills.  Though it was [redacted]’s mistake, he blamed [redacted] for it.  I asked [redacted] about it, and they said they have nothing to do with the sprinkler system. Again, we expect fairness and honesty. He also told me that he went to dinner with his wife on the evening he was supposed to meet us (and didn’t show up -  this was a meeting about 2 weeks before 9/20) nor was there any follow up from his end.  [redacted] claims the night he was supposed to meet us, his wife  asked him to keep his cell phone in his car while they went out to dinner, which he claims he did.  He said when he returned he had like 18 calls and messages.  I think he was trying explain away as to why he didn’t follow up with us.   We feel, quite frankly, that [redacted] gets the money and doesn’t care about followup.  This is not our complaint only, in fact, this has been also posted online by other customers. I will present the facts only.  We again, don’t hold any personal grudge against [redacted] nor his company.  We do expect him, however, to be fair.  Which is far from what he has been, thus we have been forced to spend valuable time and money contacting first, and many, many times, [redacted] and his company for an explanation of where our money is, or why we don’t have the design or anything (since December 2016!!) after he cashed our $5k check.  After hearing no response from [redacted] regarding this (as per usual is his habit), we contacted our lawyer, the Revdex.com, [redacted], our bank, and tried to find as much information as possible about peoples’ experience about [redacted] and his company.  We tried giving [redacted] many, many opportunities to respond to us and tried many, many times in many different ways (phone calls, emails, texts, speaking with his secretary) to give [redacted] a chance to give us our money back.  Nothing seemed to have worked, thus we had to take the next proper step, to contact the Revdex.com and also our lawyer.  We have since told people to whom we recommended [redacted] to, that we no longer recommend him.   All this has taken up so much useless time and energy, and if [redacted] is really honest about returning the $5000 check, he should just return the money.  It is going on almost one year now that he has been holding on to the money.   That is the main reason we have contacted the Revdex.com and have had our lawyer send him a letter requesting the return of this money that he has been holding on to since December 2016. But there are many other things we are now finding out about the quality of his work (we were told we were receiving the best quality for our money, so that is one of the main reasons we were paying so much).  We now question from the many issues we are having with [redacted]s work, that did we really receive what we paid for.  Plus, on hearing about his warranty offer, it was a big incentive to hire [redacted], but we don’t even get maintenance calls returned, and this was much before the hurricanes hit FL and TX.  We wish people can be aware of our experiences before they hire [redacted] or his company.   I will quote [redacted] from an email in Feb. 2016:  [redacted]

[redacted]  Since this year that [redacted] has not been getting back to us about our $5000 check, we have also been having issues with their work on our swingset and also our landscape lighting.  We have had many, many problems with the waterfall they built for us. We have begun to question him and his company and the quality of their work, and the things they tell us regarding the quality of the materials we are getting.  In December 2016, we have had an engineer check [redacted]’s work and provide us a review of the quality.  For the price we paid, he was astounded at lack of quality we got for the swingset [redacted] built. We didn’t know that we were being made fools of, but this was quite irritating, that we were told he had the best quality materials and assumed [redacted] was being honest when he billed us for the hours of work.  We had issues during the building of his swingset.  But he explained them away by saying he couldn’t do anything to make it better.  We were charged when they had to fix a mistake they made, and upon reviewing the invoices, this is definitely clear : they charged us to fix work that they made mistakes on.  We have the emails and invoices to prove it.     We just question [redacted]’s treatment of his customers after he collects their money.  This is not only our complaint, in fact you can see this online, and we have heard also that [redacted] does not return maintenance calls for the work he has done after you pay him. There are complaints online and from what we have heard, that he doesn’t do contracts and gets away with a lot of his verbal promises.  For example, he promised us warranty on all his work when he first started working for us, for as long as we keep [redacted] as our lawn care team.  In 2016, [redacted] started asking us if he can take over our lawn care.  Recently, upon asking [redacted] about the warranty and mentioning to them that we were asked by [redacted] to take over our lawn care, it was a big surprise to them.  Apparently, [redacted] had a “handshake agreement” with [redacted] to refer  customers to one another and they wouldn’t step into each other’s domain.  Since learning this, [redacted] has decided to cut off all ties with [redacted] and his company Haynes Outdoor Solutions.  There are more details to what he has done regarding his agreements with [redacted], but since it is not the topic, I’m using this as one example. Many customers have complained that [redacted] simply doesn’t return calls. We have the same experience, not only does he not return calls, but he sets up meetings and never shows up and doesn’t contact you to let you know anything.  You as the customer have to keep following up to figure out what in the world is going with [redacted] and his company. We don’t think [redacted] should continue getting away with it.       We are happy to provide the Revdex.com the letter from our lawyer which was sent to Haynes.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

The $5000 check that was asked for was a deposit for a deck that the [redacted]'s wanted to build on their house. That money was used for material research and have a structural engineer design said deck. They were advised that we would refund the money but since we are going to refund the deposit they...

will not be allowed to see or get copies of the plans that we have paid the engineer to design. The owner was then immediately called out of state to assist with disaster relief in Texas before he was able to provide said refund and has not been back as of yet. They waterfall was not completely rebuilt, we did have to redirect the lower portion due to a hole that had been put in the liner and we did advise them of this matter. She was advised that the owner of the company was in Texas doing Hurricane relief work for FEMA and that since she only wants him to respond that it would be an unknown duration of time before he was able to come back to Missouri as due to the FEMA work that he is doing he can only leave when they say he can leave. When we build their custom made play area they were advised since it is made of wood and not composite material that it would need yearly maintenance as wood products that are exposed to the elements do. We have tried our best to keep the home owner up to date with when the owner will be be able to return, she has been very rude and hateful towards our Office Administrator every time she speaks with him either via phone or email communication.
