Review: For my birthday, I received a gift certificate for One Hundred and Fifty dollars ($150.00) to Hazzard's Auto in Lewes Delaware, to get a full auto detail on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I took my Jeep to Hazzard's Auto the week of October 21st, 2013 to receive the detail treatment. I dropped my Jeep off at Hazzard's for the detail and explained to the employee working there at the time, that there was no immediate rush to get the car detailed that same day as I would be out of town. I requested that Hazzard's take the time to get the job done to the best result possible. Hazzard's called later in the week and advised me the detail was completed and I could pick-up the Jeep at my convenience. The week of October 27th, I picked up my Jeep from Hazzard's in the evening and drove it to my residence. Upon inspection of my Jeep, I noted a very large scratch and some body damage across the entire passenger side of the Jeep, commencing at the back bumper of the Jeep to the front bumper. The scratch was more noticeable in select areas. I had a few automobile mechanic professionals look at the Jeep's damage. Their expert opinion was positively that the damage could only have occurred from either moving the vehicle in or backing out of an area, and that the damage resulted from contact with a concrete block, pole, or fixture that then scraped across the side of the Jeep. These opinions were also based on the fact that there were no signs of paint from another vehicle or any indentations that would suggest alternative contact. I stopped by Hazzard's that week of October 27th to meet with the employees who had worked on my Jeep to illustrate to them the damage that had occurred while my Jeep was at Hazzard's. I was informed [redacted], the owner, would contact me to take care of this matter. However, [redacted] never contacted me. I contacted [redacted] on four different occasions with either no response and/or delay tactics but no discussion regarding the damage done to my Jeep while in the shop's possession. Finally, a month later, I was told to bring my Jeep in for [redacted] to inspect. While we stood there, [redacted] inspected my Jeep and then called over the gentlemen who worked on the car and asked him if he did the damage to the Jeep. The gentlemen denied doing any damage to my Jeep. [redacted] then informed me that he had to take his employee's word against mine as he trusts his workers would not do this damage to the Jeep and then lie about doing same. I have pictures to proove this matter.
I firmly believe the damage to my Jeep was done on the premise of Hazzard's while it was in their care and possession. I will attest to this under oath in a court of law as I did not have this damage to my Jeep prior to dropping it off for the full detail service at Hazzard's.Desired Settlement: Damages that occured onsite at Hazzards along the passenger side of the car (scratch from back bumper to front bumper) should be fixed.
