HDC Homes Reviews (%countItem)

This company does horrible work. We hired them to remodel our house after Hurricane Michael. They have been to our home 6 times after they finished to fix the dry wall issues. The drywall is still bubbling and cracking. The bathtubs do not drain properly nor do they hold water consistently. They have not finished painting the door they hung wrong, they have not fixed the door jams or put a new one on the one door. Nail pops and cracking and peeling throughout our home and ceilings.

Desired Outcome

Refund They will no longer contact us. We want a refund for the plumbing and drywall and painting. Since they have come multiple times and can not fix the problem. The drywall needs to be completely redone. As does the plumbing.

Good morning,
Holley Development completed this customer's job based on what was on the contract. We did our own internal punchlist, we then did a walk through with the customer. Once those 2 punchlists were completed the customer hired a home inspector. We have their walk through list. We returned and completed the inspectors punchlist. The customer then began sending pictures of wall damage, paint peeling, and towel bars torn from the wall. None of these issues were on any of the previous 4 punchlists. Based on pictures and the previous 4 punchlists (3 of which were the customers) we have stopped responding because the customer is damaging her own home and that damage is not covered. We sent a certified plumber to the customers home to fix ANY issues she had and he did so. We do not cover draining issues that arise 6months later. She will need to hire her own plumber to unclog anything they may have in the drain. Referencing "nail pops". Holley development fixed all drywall issues that were put on any of the previous 4 punchlists. The home is very old, unsquare and uneven on a crawl space. Her drywall is screwed to her wall and ceiling. The only way a screw pops through drywall 6 months to a year after being hung is if the drywall its self moves. This can happen for many reasons including strong storms, climbing in the attic or storing items in the attic, or hitting walls with furniture or other heavy objects. The pictures of peeling paint the customer sent show paint transfer from other objects most likely furniture. A contractor cannot warranty paint and drywall cosmetic issues past the initial move in for this reason. Holley development did so for 6 months after the customer moved in in an attempt to satisfy the customer. This customer has wanted money back since the beginning of construction. About a month into the remodel these customers spent some of their insurance money on non repairs. As a result there was a multimonth delay in construction while they finally decided to eliminate their kitchen from the contract to stay within budget. To this day they have been trying to get some sort of refund so they can install a kitchen. Holley Development has gone above and beyond for this customer all the while they have falsely slandered our company on Facebook and in public.

Slander: The utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation. We moved in March 13, 2020. HDC was not done with the work. I am not sure what he is talking about kitchen. We did not have them do our kitchen. My problem is that their original plumber did not do correct work which led to leaking under the bathroom sink, which in turn led to mold. Yes My home is old, when they did the drywall repairs they never let it dry and in turn painted over it. Well I know that is not supposed to happen. The problems with the drywall are the same problems we have continued to have. When the plumber came to fix the stopper for the tub he told me they put the incorrect part on. We have deep tubs and they connected a stopper that is for standard tubs. So the plumber did a temporary fix. Well that fix is not working hence temporary. I honestly don't want their money or their work. I would like them just to pay to have it repaired correctly. That is all.
We have never asked for money back, we have used all most of our insurance money on repairs to our home to HDC. We did have money to replace our roof and thank god we had already hired a different company to do that.
Also they have a one year warranty on their work. Why do they not want to make it right?
We were told originally our home would be finished in Nov 2019 then it was December. It was not even complete by March 2020 when we moved in. We are a licensed foster home and were supposed to be in our home by Dec 2019. I just want them to correct the issues. It is not our fault that they did not do them correctly in the first place. I feel as though they are taking advantage of families that went trough Hurricane Michael. We have 4 children and lived in a Travel Trailer we bought for 18 months. I also have texts and emails telling me how the items on my list are my fault. They are not. Sure there is normal wear on our house but the items I am asking for them to repair are not normal wear. I have pictures of before and after the repair. We were also told by HDC that no matter how many times they repaired the drywall on the windows they would continue to crack. How is that are fault as homeowners.
The owner has not even been to our house to see what the issues were. David Fredricks the head in charge even told us the doors needed fixing and looked horrible. He also said he would redo the trim around the doors and he did not. My issue is just be honest, if you say something that you are going to do, do it. If you make a mistake or hired someone that did not do great work own it and fix it.

Again, Holley Developement gave them the opportunity to provide a punchlist. We completed 4 punch lists. The items they want fixed now were not on the original 4 punchlists. We can not continue to fix cosmetic issues indefinitely. Cosmetic issues are not warrantied past the 1st punch list. For obvious reasons we don't warranty cosmetic issues once the customer moves in furniture and kids. The waste and overflow on the tub is standard so it doesn't matter what size tub she has. It is the same stopper. The plumber said he could install a foot stopper if the customer wanted to which she did not say yes or no so the plumber never ordered it.

Many if these were done. Yes. I will even let the *** drywall go. We can repair that ourselves. Numbers 4,9,16 and 24 were NOT done. Again I am sorry that they can not complete a punch list. At this point they need to admit that they made mistakes, did a not great job and missed some items!
