Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Item 1: On June 28, 2016, I sent an email to the business owner regarding the cement issues No response. On July 6, 2016, I sent an email and a mailed letter to the business owner stating the unresolved pool issues from our contract dated May 20, and requested he respond within days No response. On August 2, 2016, I left a voice mail message asking the business owner to please return my call and stated that my preference is to work with him personally and not through a third party or the Revdex.com No response. On August 4, 2016, I filed a formal complaint with the Revdex.com.On August 5, 2016, I received a response from the business owner through the Revdex.com I made another personal phone call to request that we work out these issuesNo response. The business owner should visually inspect an issue before warranty status can be determined The business owner has an excellent reputation and this is not the caliber of craftsmanship for which he is known The concrete issues are not simple cracks The top layer of concrete is peeling away in three different corners The three specific areas of concern are on the perimeter of the coping away from the pool water It appears that the cement will continue to crumble I would like to have these issues repaired before they grow larger The cement was poured in June 2015.Item 2: Pool lights are removed by a single screw at the top of the light, under the water, and not at the deck level In June 2016, a certified Pentair technician was unable to service our lights because the light housing could not be lifted out of the water I had to drain the water level in our pool to a level below the light housing before the technician could service the lights I asked if he could put in a new cord or extend the cord so that the lights could be removed without draining the water He explained that I would have to purchase new lights and have them installed properly with adequate lead cord. The following information is from Pentair’s Intellibrite Installation and User Guide.* Under no circumstances replace lights by splicing wire under water or behind niche.* NOTICE: The external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire cannot be replaced; if the cord is damaged, the luminaire shall be destroyed.Relevant steps in the installation procedures Feed the new light fixture cord through the conduit from the niche to the Junction BoxNote: Depending on the length of the conduit, special tools may be required to pull the cord through the conduit. Leave at least four (4) feet of cord to coil around the light fixture; see Figure on page This four (4) feet (m) of cord coiled around the light allows the light to be serviced after the pool is filled with water. The business owner did not follow proper installation procedure by leaving at least feet of cord to coil around the fixture when the lights were installed in The business owner’s response on a repair of the lights is also not in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications In light of his response, to resolve this issue the business owner needs to provide a refund of the contracted amount paid for the lights so I can arrange for the replacement and installation of the new lights by a certified *** technician.Item 3: The contract states “spa jets repair and or replacement”, not “delivering the jets to the client.” This issue will be resolved when the repair is complete or the contracted amount is refunded Since 2013, I have made many unsuccessful requests to the business owner to complete the work Response to business owner’s note, The pool was completely remodeled during May/June of It was professionally winterized in the fall of and covered with a *** pool cover The pool was opened in May and the new cement coping was crumbling in several areas and flaking around the entire perimeter of the pool After more than two months of requests to the business owner, the business owner arranged for the cement supplier to inspect the issue On July 25, the cement supplier visually examined the most severe areas and inspected the entire perimeter of the pool He also examined the photographs that were taken the day the pool was opened so he could see the exact condition of the cement before all of the loose crumbling bits were cleaned up From the photographs, he could see the water level as well He stated that the concrete issue was a materials failure affecting all of the concrete He cited the probable cause as the combination of the color additive and the small batch of concrete He stated that his company would stand behind their product and assume financial responsibility for the removal and replacement of the failed concrete The repair was scheduled with the business owner for May As per the concrete supplier’s analysis, I requested not to have colored cement when the cement was replaced The pool tile was not damaged until the failed cement was removed The method of cement removal damaged the tile and necessitated the replacement of the tiles in the affected areas.I am unaware of any further analysis performed by the business owner and respectfully request that the business owner provide additional information on the date(s), method(s) and specifically the results that indicate that water level, neglect and freezing were the cause of the cement failure Photographs and/or written documentation can be provided for all issues and the note upon request
Sincerely,*** ***

Regarding the complaint
item 1- There is no warranty offered for cracks in concrete we placed controlled joints according to the American concrete institute standardsAs well the concrete supplier is the same entity that provides material for the state *** and *** ***
***
item 2- pool lights are removed by a single anchor screw from the deck level ,no water removal is requiredif the leads are short a simple wire or string is attached to the leads when servicing buy a pool service technicianIf its a spa light the spa is always drained to access as its in three feet of water.
item spa jetswe will have the jets delivered to the client
Note , The pool coping was replaced in by the contractor because of concrete failure as it was assumedAfter further analysis of the event the pool water level was kept at a level during the winter which flooded the concrete allowing the freeze to attack itIn good faith to make the client happy we took it off along with the tile and replaced them both when in reality mother nature was the cause as well as the client not taking care of the proper water level of the pool during winter conditions

Complaint: [redacted]
The business owner’s response does not address my complaint about the lights.  I am not complaining about the warranty work performed by the manufacturer.  In fact, it is through working with the manufacturer that I learned that my lights had been incorrectly installed by the business owner.
It has already been established that the lights were not correctly installed and that the error cannot be repaired.  When installed, the cords were cut too short and now in order to service the lights, I have to drain my pool to the level below the lights.  If they had been correctly installed, I would not have this issue. (Please refer to the detailed information regarding the installation error that has been documented in previous responses).
This is not a subjective complaint.  A simple inspection proves the point.  The lights were installed incorrectly and the only way to fix this problem is to replace the lights.  It is unacceptable to expect me to drain my pool every time the lights need serviced.  The business owner installed them incorrectly and has asserted that they can be repaired by splicing and adding more cord.  The manufacturer explicitly states that this cannot be done and that the lights have to be replaced or the pool drained.  The business owner offered to replace them in the future.  Once again, the business owner has not responded to me in the past so I do not think he will respond in the future.  Now is the time to resolve this issue.
Once again, the business owner should refund the contracted amount I paid for the lights so that I can have them replaced by a certified technician who will follow the manufacturers installation instructions. Sincerely,[redacted]

good morning [redacted],
I have been doing pool work in the boise valley since 1978.
I have performed to the best of my abilities and by the industry standards.
I will not consider any more harassment from the complainer for issues I am not responsible for.
Please note that I have and will continue to do the right thing by any one who hires me. This process appears to be one sided . that said paying you for three letters each year really has never benefited  HDT Pools and I think I will add your expense to my health insurance from this day forward.
Kind Regards,
Troy H[redacted]
