Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
Mr. H[redacted] claims that my new contractor gave him the impression he was working hourly.  However, he (Mr. H[redacted]) performed labor specified on his original bid, and gave us an invoice that directly reflected the pricing on that bid.  The bid was not in terms of hours, it had specific pricing, such as "Rough in waste and vent piping ($528)" and "Rough in water piping ($252)" and "Fuel gas piping ($450)".  These were the exact amounts bid and billed, and there was no hourly data on them.
I must also point out that my new contractor would never have made such a suggestion.  He was clear that subcontractors should communicate directly with me on all billing.  I had no communication whatsoever about billing with Mr. H[redacted] aside from the bid.
It is only the final bid item that Mr. H[redacted] is trying to charge us hourly for.  This was trim installation.  The bid amount was $1380, and he is charging us $3099.  This is to install 2 toilets and connect 3 sink faucets.  It is clearly an excessive and egregious over-charge.
Mr. H[redacted] claims that this was a difficult situation for me, which I don't understand.  The project went smoothly, my new contractor did an excellent job, I dealt with many other subcontractors and all of them did the work they said they would for the price they said they would.  Only Mr. H[redacted] is having the difficulty.
He also claims the scope of the work changed.  There were two changes and both were explicit and were included on his invoice.  He claims to have done additional work that he didn't bill us for, which is not true, and you will notice that there are no specifics in his reply.  He made the same claim to me directly, and could not respond when I asked him to specify this work.
Sincerely,[redacted]

We were hired by a general contractor to work on Mr. [redacted]'s House. We provided wholesale pricing as we would normally do working for a general contractor with the knowledge we were working with a professional contractor we had worked with before that would adhere to industry standards...

for coordination of trades. Mr. [redacted] had problems with this general contractor he had hired and removed him from the project during the middle of the project. We continued working with Mr. [redacted] and his new contractor with the understanding we were working hourly. His new contractor was working hourly and left me with the impression we were also working hourly.
We feel like we helped Mr. [redacted] through what could have been a tough situation. The scope of this project had changed from the original bid. We didn't even bill him for a lot of the additional work we did for him. The new contractor called us several times to make additional trips to do small portions of work so he could continue with his work. He scheduled us to complete the trim portion of the work before it was completely ready, requiring us to make return trips.
I billed Mr. [redacted] for the actual hours we had worked on the project ( except the trips I never charged him for). His offer doesn't even cover the cost of the labor and is not acceptable.
I was disappointed with Mr. [redacted]'s unwillingness to come to a fair resolution. Frustrated, I was left with a few options, take a loss on a project we did nothing wrong but try to help the customer, file a labor lien, turn it over to our attorney, or just turn it to collections and let the professionals deal with it. I decided to turn it over to collections and see what they could do with it. In my business I have to deal with people not paying us from time to time. I have found it takes so much of my time and emotional involvement, it is better of to let a professional collector work it out why I focus on running my business.
