Health Plus Fitness Center membership is a month contract. After you have fulfilled your month contract, your membership continues on a month by month basisIn order to cancel your membership, you must complete our online cancellation form by the 20th of each
month. If we receive your cancellation after the 20th of the month, your membership will not be cancelled until the follow month. This is explained to each member upon joining the center. All members sign and initial the contract stating they understand and agree to our terms. If we don't receive a cancellation form, we continue to bill the account each month for your monthly membership dues "and" we charge a $late fee for each month carrying a balance. We continue to bill the account for months before writing the account off and sending the balance owed to our collections departmentOur center uses an automated dialer to notify members if there is a payment issue with their account. The dialer is automatically set to call members times a month.
Mr. *** *** credit Card first declined on Feb for his monthly charge of $49.00. He declined also in March, April and May totaling $196.00. For each month, he declined he was charged a $late fee totaling $75.00. Mr*** was called from the automated dialer twice each month he declined and he also signed the contract agreeing to our cancellation policy. Mr*** contacted the center on May 25th, and we responded in writing explaining the process. The email correspondence is as follow:

Here is a breakdown of the charges owed to HealthPlus at this time. We have not received any payment since January of this year. So the charges are as follows:

And then for each days that you do not resolve your account there is a $late fee which would add up as follows:

Which brings the balance to $271.
You can contact the accounting office to take care of the balance and your account will be cancelled effective May 31st.

If you are entering the center any during that time you are stopped at the front desk when you check in and asked to see the accounting department.

You clearly don't understand my frustrationI never received a call notifying me of thisIf the gym is not willing to be flexible on this I will need to consult an attorney and consider filing a formal complaint with the Revdex.com

We have found that we are able to reach more people this way and it has been quite successful for both us and the members. We also rely on our members to check their bank or credit card statements to make sure payments are coming out. We feel like all of this together is sufficient for informing you of any accounting issues.

The dialer calls the number we have on file and then the front desk lets you know to see accounting when you check in the center. Your dues have not been collected since January and it states in your contract that your dues will continue to be billed until you give cancellation notice. It states in the cancellation that you filled out that your account must be in clear status or it will not be cancelled. So, regardless of the added late fees you would still owe $for your dues. We give you days to take care of your account before adding the late fee. So, your account was not handled for months so therefore you have charges. If you need to see a copy of the contract you signed upon joining I will be happy to provide you with that. I can also show you the cancellation that you filled out online where it states in question number two…Are all payments due to HealthPlus current? (paid in full) You can proceed however you feel necessary.

The dialer always dials out days after the billing and week later. We also rely on all our members to check their accounts for any bank issues. We also change the status at the front desk to notify them of any issues if they are currently using the facility. Mr*** was notified each month but he informed us on Tuesday, June 09, that he had not lived at the address we have in our records in years. There is no way for us to know this information if the members do not update our center. If you have any other questions, please call ###-###-#### or email.
