On November **, 2016, *** *** walked into my establishment to pick up a pair of pants as he mentionedHe then claimed that he did not have his ticket and provided me with his nameI proceeded to ask him for his phone number as I noticed that there were different accounts with his first and
last name but different phone numbersWhen I asked for his phone number again, he started complaining and angrily insisted that he did not need to provide his phone numberI just wanted to make sure that I was giving the article of clothing to the correct owner, especially if they were police pantsIt should not be an issue to provide his phone number considering that it is something we should already have in our computer systemThere are many instances where customers at our establishment have the same first and last name, so it is our responsibility that we are correctly returning clothing to the correct customerI have been in this business for ove r years and I never had an issue with a customer because of not wanting to provide a phone numberI think he felt presumptuous because he was part of law enforcement and therefore did not need to follow basic store policiesEven after his pants were returned to him, he proceeded to call the police about this matterHe wasted not only my time but the time of on-duty police officers over such a small matterWe have since then posted signs about providing a phone number for pickups without a ticket
