Heartland Farm Mutual Reviews (%countItem)

This company has great adjusters but horrible upper management. I was hit and involved in a 5 car collision. The first adjuster was fantastic. She even extended my rental when the collision company (that I didn't choose) left plastic on my new exhaust and I thought the car needed further repair. I pay my monthly premiums and have no difficulty prior to my accident.

This company uses a third party appraiser company. When I noticed issues with the repair I took a day off work to meet with the appraiser. It was Heartland upper management who promised me that the appraiser would meet me and I could rectify everything that day. Not surprised - He did not show up. I kept my rental, waited into the next week and only today did I hear from him on Wednesday.

Due to the fact that my adjuster was on vacation last week I started to work with her team lead Rowan- who when I kindly asked to escalate my claim he told me there is no one above him. lol After pushing to speak with someone- he finally directed me to a man named Jeff (Manager of claims) whom I left a message for but hadn't heard anything back from. My entire claim went downhill after this.

The adjuster claimed my mud guard crack was cracked because it was previously repaired poorly (unbeknowing to me). - Bottom line is it was cracked since the accident (whether repaired or not).

This is just ONE example of my issue with the third party appraiser and Heartland. I found Heartland through a broker and had no prior experience or knowledge of them when I joined. Heartlands upper management does not support the driver making the claim (person paying the premium) once an accident happens. I found Heartland to be fine up until this experience.

I plan to rectify this situation and leave as soon as I can. I also plan to have my family members, friends and close co-workers who know about the situation pull out asap.

they will take your money but not pay out claims ***. Our home burnt down August 10th which is now 6 months ago and to date they refuse to get back to us about our insurance. After the fire we reached out to our broker to find out what to do, we were put in touch with our claims adjuster that immediately requested an interview that consisted of 5 minutes asking what was in the house and caused the fire and 55 minutes about asking what my financial situation and business dealings were which should have been the first red flag. We were then told that he would reach out to the insurance company and get back to us about living expenses. After a few weeks we were not able to get an answer out of the adjuster about what we were supposed to be doing so we reached out to our broker who confirmed that we had additional living expenses on our policy and there must have been some sort of misunderstanding. They reached out to the insurance company and then got back to us saying that we were on our own and they wouldn't cover any of our expenses while they were investigating the fire. Insurance companies are required to act in the utmost of good faith in their dealings with their clients, telling their clients that just lost everything that they are on their own while they investigate is basically the definition of bad faith. Someone on day one decided that they couldn't or didn't want to pay this claim and have been working backwards every since trying to justify their decision and haven't been able to come up with anything so they've switched strategies to completely ignoring us. We filed a proof of loss in September which the statutory regulation requires them to respond to within 30 days notifying us what they are doing, they completely ignored this and just decided not to respond, after repeated requests they either don't get back to us or just say they will and then never do, finally after 5 months they asked to do an examination under oath which I gladly agreed to however haven't responded since. It's now 6 months later and we've yet to see a dime for our expenses or any word what they are doing for our home and possessions. Luckily we are able to cover our additional living expenses however many families would not be able to do this after having just moved to a new town, not knowing anyone and losing everything they owe but Heartless Farms simply doesn't care, we could be living on the street and it wouldn't make a difference to them. They've hired an investigator and keep pulling credit reports and after 6 months can't find anything on us so their strategy is now just ignore you until us until we go away instead.
