This is our response to complaint case # XXXXXXXX:
First and foremost I would like to thank this father for taking an interest in his daughter's well being and trying to help her understand the often confusing and
complicated world of healthcare and insuranceI would address each issue point by point so as to leave nothing outThe total bill can never be disciosed over the phone before the actual appointment as every decision you make in office changes the possible amount of that visitThe total bill was however disclosed the day of the appointment and the patient's father confirmed with me that he received their copy of the invoice for that day which clearly stated the charge for a comprehensive eye exam and the contact lens fit feeOn the same invoice it shows the regular retail pricing and then in the next column it lists the discounted price for the patientThe patient's father is upset because they never returned for the mandatory followup care that was scheduled for them and was free of charge and now they want to order contacts online and are unable to because we were not able to complete the proper finalization of the contact lens Rx for the patientThe contact lens fee showed up as "administration fee" on the patient's BCBS explanation of benefits and we are unable to control how they label it when it is sent out, even if our original invoice shows correctly what it is forFurthermore the contact lens fit fee is a standard charge for all of our contact lens patients whether or not they purchase contacts from usAll of our patients are welcome to take their Rx once finalized and purchase their contacts at the facility or online vendor of their choiceI hope this clears up any confusion there may be on this subject and I strongly encourage any patient with questions about their insurance to come in to the office where we will be happy to go over it and help explain any charges in question

this response is the same song and dance that inspired me to file this complaintsince filing my initial complaint I have contacted their corporate level and received an apologyI have since lodged complaints with the following:

and my companies blog
I have informed all that in my opinion the song and dance I'm getting borders on a cover upI believe this business overcharged my insurance, and now is attempting to cover up the information given to me by local employees
I thank you for your attention! I believe the truth is out, investigation begun, and the word to avoid this business will reach my fellow associates along with my union brothers and sisters
