After interviewing several contractors, we chose Heartridge to build our beautiful home...If it had not been for their team, we would not have what we now call "our sanctuary"Their ability to turn ideas into works of art, the level of craftsmanship, and down to earth personality of [redacted] and their teamthey are a part of our family now! Beautiful details, amazing end productYou never see contractors put tool belts on anymore, but the owner could swing a hammer with the best of them! We would use them again, except we will probably die in this home :) On budget, about a month late, great guys

Absolutely the worst custom build that we have ever been associated with. This firm came highly recommended by a log home supply company - [redacted] Log Homes. The salesman for claimed to have first hand knowledge of a number of builds with Heartridge. We felt that that was an extremely strong and valuable endorsement. However, our build did not have a single smooth moment. Heartridge never met their deadlines - our house took two years to get it to the point we could move in. And was never completed by them. We finally reached the point - we just wanted them out of our lives. We were sick and tire of the excuses. They never accepted responsibility for anything. It has been 1 year since we moved into our new home. I still have such mixed feelings about the whole process. And it was a process! It took them 3 months to start our home. Now we just gave them a big down payment and we started to wonder if they were going to skip. [redacted] said its not his fault (something I was about to hear a lot of). The structural guy was busy then it was the grader who was busy. We get started and looks like thing are going well then the plumber holds me up for another 6 weeks. We are now 4 months behind and [redacted] is telling me not to worry. He would tell me that a sub was coming this week and no one shows. I ask him about it and its you guessed it it's not my fault. They don't call me back. Oh I want to hear that from my GC. In the end we were 5 months late. The house was poorly painted cause he owed the painter money and I get to deal with it. So He had to repaint the house. When it was done I ask [redacted] for one simple thing. Just give me the paint codes for the new paint. It took over 4 months of calling him and to this day he has not sent them to me. I the time of building my home I had to liens put on it. Constantly hearing the subs complaining they have not been paid yet. I never missed a draw. We kept him cash positive all the way. I still have some issues but have decided it is best to just eat them. I really never want to see him again. The same of it is the house did come out nice. [redacted]","neg-1

I am unable to get in touch with the contractor regarding issues with my new home that he builtI had my home built by Heartridge Builders. We had many issues along the building process, including liens on the house due to the builder not paying multiple subcontractors. We ended up having to live in a hotel for a few months until the house was able to be lived in. Heartridge builders promised to pay me $3000. towards the hotel bill and that has never been paid. I am missing some trim pieces which were never put on, it was promised that doors would be aligned correctly and many emails and phone calls later, I do not get any response from Heartridge builders. I had to pay some of the subcontractors cash in order to get liens off the house so that I could close. /////Desired SettlementI would like the $3000 for the hotel bill, and the trim pieces and door alignment to be done./////Business Response We have contacted the owner and asked for pictures of the flaws and items that need to be repaired. We have not received them to date. The money that is being requested we believe is unjust, in that we were not able to start the home on time due to liens filed from a previous debtor, nothing to do with our company, and the fact that the owner sold her home before a CO was issued and needed a place to stay. The owner is requesting we pay their hotel bill. We built this home in the contracted time frame, just under 9 months, but it did close later than expected due to weather and the issue with the liens and delayed start date outside of Heartridge's control. The contract was breached from the very beginning by the owner, however we felt we could work through the issues and finish the home for them. We stand behind every home we build, and the issues that are requesting to be repaired are cosmetic in nature. Again, we have requested pictures and have not received them. Consumer Response The photos have been submitted to the company twice. The liens were placed on the home long afterward because Heartridge was not paying its contractors. I ended up paying for many of the items such as hardwood floors, all appliances, light fixtures, ceiling fans, and over 10K to the woodwork builder as he had not been paid and his company was in jeopardy. The painter had to drive to Heartridge's home office in North Carolina and threaten [redacted] before he was able to be paid. I have been contacted by two other customers of Heartridge who have suffered as I have. We had been assured multiple times, even up until July, that the home would be finished by August so we closed on our existing home in September and had no where to go but a hotel. [redacted] and his father [redacted] who was our builder PROMISED that they would pay our hotel bill on multiple occasions. Construction was started on this home in February, the county let us move into the home in October after much begging but we didnt even have floors, countertops completed. We did not close on the house until the following March which was when the house was 99% completed. There were no bad weather conditions. The main issue was Heartridge did not have money to pay their contractors so they had to wait to be paid from another job in order to continue with their first job. There was no breach of contract, my lawyer was on board the entire time and reviewed the contract at each and every step of the way. He was also included on every email that was sent back and forth. The woodwork contractor actually started another job for Heartridge and was not getting paid on that job either. This company is extremely irresponsible and the only time that they have paid attention is when a complaint was filed on Revdex.com. I am not sure if I will ever see the areas that are incomplete get fixed or the reimbursement that was promised and if I do, I will be certain to advise on here.
