This guest received a ticket while moored overnight in the Bridgewater ChannelUnfortunately the channel, as well as the wall that runs along the channel, is not our property and is policed by the City Police DepartmentAs a courtesy it is our company policy to notify all guests that it is against
the law to moor in the channel overnight, and if they do so they run the risk of getting a ticketThis information is passed along to guests making reservations, as well as to guests who check in, and inquire about boat parkingWe always refer our guests to the marina where they can rent slips to keep their boatsYou will find that I have attached a photo of one of the two signs the city posts at each entrance of the channel, mooring from 11p-5a is listed We are unable to post additional signs in front of the area that the guest parked since it is public propertyI did not call the guest a liar, I told her I thought she may have misunderstood the information that the employee gaveI did talk to my staff who all confirmed that the guest was told they could get a ticket for parking in the channel overnightWhen the guest requested the hotel pay her ticked I explained that I can not do anything monetarily for the ticket since it was not on our propertyIt is true that others have received tickets for parking in the channel, however they have not requested we pay it since we regularly inform everyone of the lawsI told the guest she could try to discuss her concerns, especially regarding the signs, with the court and see if they are willing to forgive the ticketDuring our conversation I felt I was professional, kind and curiousI let the guest explain everything that took place surrounding the ticketI tried to be as helpful as I could as I understand how frustrating it can be to get a costly ticket during your holiday vacationAt this point I do not feel as though our hotel is responsible for issuing any credits, refunds, or compensation for this ticket
