Review: Heatherman Homes has rented us a property in [redacted]. Upon moving in the place was completely filthy top to bottom. Multiple Appliances were broken and our fridge was full of mold. There were holes in the walls, missing boards on the back deck, a slab of rusted metal in the backyard, untrimmed bushes and grass. Upon moving in we requested a cleaning and that was denied.We paid for a cleaning service to come in and the told us that they thought there was mold in the house. We had a mold test done and found that there was mold in the crawlspace and the heating ducts. Every time we put on the heat we are pumping mold and dirt into the house. Upon requesting remediation, they have dragged there feet on this and have taken more than the 5 days required by law(or so I have interpreted) to remediate the problem. My 1 yr old son has gotten a respitory infection and my 4 yr old daughter in now sick as well.Upon getting a remediation company to come in, they have refused to reimburse us for the mold test, and refuse to do any preventative measures to ensure mold does not grow back. Again looking into the law, we have found that it is the landlords resposibility to ensure the prevention of moisture and mold in our house.We have since requested to be released from our lease as mold is grounds to terminate a lease, and they have informed us that we will not be released from our lease.We feel very unsafe in this house and feel as though we are trapped in a dirty moldy house.Again we were told we would be moving into a clean house but that was clearly not the case.Desired Settlement: At this point we are requested to be released from our lease. We are requesting our money returned and any fees we have had to pay out of pocket. We are also requesting moving fees as we have already payed for moving costs once into a house that we were told would be habitable but is not. We are also requesting any medical fees for the cost of my son and any additional money that we will have to pay in this matter.

This complaint is a willful fabrication by the tenant in an attempt to break his lease. He rented the property sight unseen using the services of a local franchise brokerage. The landlord of this property and our company responded immediately to all of this tenants requests. Our office has available for viewing by anyone at any time if they wish to see the invoices and correspondence in respect to this matter. The documents show that we were prompt and handled this efficiently and appropriately.

Nothing in our complaint was fabricated. We did not get a full mold remediation, only a visible cleaning. They were informed more work was required but did only the bare minimum for visible cleaning and not a complete remediation based on our lease or by [redacted] EPA guidelines. The landlord and company did absolutely no preventative work towards the cleaning. The house was in fact completely filthy when we moved in, the MLS listing was listed incorrectly.

They have not responded as quickly to requests as they are saying. We moved in October 17 and they have yet to fix our garage door and ceiling fan as is in our lease, as well as furnish us with an ove. we purchased one ourselves after a week without a stove and have never asked them not to fulfill the contractual obligations to provide us with one after the fact.
