It is always upsetting when a product or part fails especially when it’s a furnace or air conditioning equipment… It is especially difficult when a product is not maintained or serviced as many issues could be detected, diagnosed and repaired before a break down or part failure arises… Manufactures
now require maintenance be performed yearly to maintain any warranty part or claim… They have the right to refuse a warranty claim if the equipment is not maintained… We try to encourage maintenance yearly for these reasons… We have had warranty parts claims refused in the past because maintenance was not performed… A manufacturers parts warranty is just that a part warranty only, which does not include any reimbursement for shipping charges or labor or service fee’s to diagnose or repair/replace the failed parts as required… The warranty procedure for a manufacturer such as in this case is the parts are ordered from the manufacturer and cannot be purchased from a third party to obtain warranty… The part has to be paid for at that time along with the shipping charges for delivery… The next step is to return the old part or failed part for warranty to the manufacturer which in this case is another shipping charge back to the manufacturer… The last step is to submit a warranty claim for the cost of the part which of course means it does not cover any shipping charges to or from the manufacturer as they are only responsible for the part… From there the claim goes through review and approved or disapproved depending on the circumstance as viewed by the manufacturer… Sometimes depending on the part returned maintenance records are required to process the claim for warranty for review… *** *** *** *** equipment was installed on 5/16/2012… The warranty for the system was year parts and labor and a year manufacturers parts only warranty… With that the labor portion of the warranty had expired on 5/16/and the manufacturers parts warranty is what remains….The system had never been maintained or service by our company since the system was installed back in 2012… So we have no service history record to refer to since the date of installation… Our company was called out to perform a service for a no heat call at the *** residence on 1/30/2017… It was found that the inducer fan motor failed and the tubing on the bottom of the drain was disconnected… We then quoted the client a total amount of $to get an inducer fan installed with shipping and labor as required… Since it would take a few days to receive the warranty part from the manufacturer we offered to purchase the part from a local vendor to restore heat in the home the same day at no additional charge but the client declined at that time … No further action was taken until the client call back late in the day on 1-31-to have the service done at the agreed upon price of $225.00… We arranged for service the next morning and we dispatched our technician at a local vendor to purchase the part required to expedite getting heat back on in the home rather than wait a few more days to have a part shipped from the manufacturerWe also ordered the part under warranty from the manufacturer to replace the part we purchased for the client so we could recoup the product at least less shipping and processing fee’s… We use a Gps system on our vehicles and it shows our technician arrived to pick up parts need for repair at 7:20am then leaving supply house and arriving at the clients home at 8:23amThe technician departed the clients home after the repairs at 9:so the time devoted to this repair is over hours.. Besides the time invested we still have the charges for the shipping from the manufacturer and claims processing which is included in the quoted price and service performed… The decision to have the technician go to a vendor to purchase the part instead of waiting for a few more days to receive one from the manufacturer was to expedite the restoring heat in the clients home… Again the price was quoted before the work took place and agreed upon by client before the work took place… The work performed by the technician was to replace the inducer fan and repair drain line as required… Once the inducer fan was replaced the technician viewed the replacement line was the length of the existing line so rather than pull the line to fit he extended the existing line for better fitment and ease of connection… The line that was connected drains water out of the furnace and produces several gallons of water each day while the furnace is in use, In our humble opinion it is very difficult to imagine the line had been leaking water every day in use without anyone noticing or addressing that issue as it would surely show itself to the client… We feel the line at some point came off and leaked at some point but we have no way to truly know the circumstances surrounding this situation as we have not service the unit since 2012… Yearly maintenance and inspection could have helped to avoid this issue as is why it is suggested by the manufacturer to avoid these types of issues that can arise… I can’t say for sure whether any maintenance was performed on the furnace or not over the years but we do know it was not serviced by our company… Furthermore the drain leaking had no bearing on the problem that caused the no heat situation as the inducer fan failure was due to the plastic impellor vane breaking and causing the wheel to not be able to turn therefore causing the motor to fail which ultimately caused the heater to stop functioning… So in any event whether the drain leaked or not the inducer fan would have failed and the repair would have been necessary and the associated costs would have been the same… Once again it is always challenging when appliances fail and service is required but we have found annual maintenance from a qualified provider can help avoid these types of issues in most casesAlthough even with proper maintenance a part failure can take place at anytime despite the best planning though less likely with proper maintenance…

Charged $579 to add 1.5 lbs refrigerant and install 1 cap and tighten another- took technician half hour and and he did no troubleshooting! Said to do leak investigation it would cost $1200!!! Stay away from these guys-rip off of the most extreme-I felt sick like I had been robbed and even told the technician who just sort of shrugged his shoulders. Worst decision I ever made.
