Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I went to the Oreilly where I purchased the parts that he denies replacing. I could not find the original for the invoice in January because they only keep invoices for one year. The first one shows I purchased the master pro belt (house brand) and even says on the ticket deliver to Hedding, the second one shows I purchased the Gates brand belt (the name brand), and the third shows when I warranty returned the house brand belt. The 4th invoice shows I purchased the distributor and had it sent to Hedding. By this time I was no longer working at that location, incase he wants to say I wrote it on the ticket. I do not have any written receipts from Hedding for the additional work because he never gave me any, but I'm sure it can be traced through the hours charged to that warranty in order to pay his employee. Had I believed it would come to this, I would have requested everything in writting, so shame on me. If I had worked on my truck afterwards (which I haven't), that would be an accusation. He has no proof. He states that he should've been notified so he could warranty the labor, but why would I return for more work done when all the other prior times before, they were unsuccessful? And just what vehicle would I use to commute while he has my truck?? He never once offered a loaner or rental car. Should I have to pay for that out of pocket too? Even if he "bent over backwards" to help me, as a business owner, he is still obligated to provide what he has been paid for. To fix the misfire on cylinder 5!!! [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:The only thing I can agree with in his statement, is that they helped me with the payment methodAll other aspects of this business transaction was horrible!!!! First off, it not only took more than a month to get my truck back but I had to take it back on multiple occasions and not every occasion were they able to fix THEIR mistakesThe first time I took it back was because I had a chirp in the beltThe first thing they did was switch out the belt with a name brand beltWhen I took it back a week later with the same issue it was because I figured out the issue, it was rigged back to functioning conditionThe problem was that WHOEVER put the engine back together, left off a mounting bolt to the smog pump and the pulley on the pump was tiltedThat was the cause for the belt chirpThe kid couldn't find the mounting bolt, so he made one out of a tread all and a nut with some washers on itNext thing I took it back for, was leaking fluids on the bottom of the engine oil pan and the transmission panWhen I took it back to the shop the kid said *** was not in and proceeded to look at my truckHe started explaining to me how HE put the gaskets on and said "It couldn't be leaking because I put the new gasket and abunch of that sealant too"He proceeded to show me the excess sealant that had dried all around the oil panThat was not correctly installed and that could be a reason why it was leakingThe last reason I took it back was because a check engine light had came back onWhen I checked it with the OBDscanner, it was a misfire on the same cylinder I initially took it in for*** recommended I buy the distributor and they would install it and redo the timingWhen I went to pick up my truck, *** was one the phone in the officeI patiently waited for half an hour for him to get off the phone so I could talk to him about the trouble with the truckI went to find him in the shop and he was still arguing with someone which sounded like a personal issueHe would not get off the phone and proceeded to give me my old distributorI went out to get my truck and the kid stated "we reset the timing times and can not figure out why you have the misfire". When that did not solve the problem, he sent me away with the problem not solved. So why should I have to pay for work done, if in the end I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM??!! Just a few weeks ago I had to take to another mechanic because the truck was leaking waterWhen the mechanic went to look under the truck, he stated he could remove the timing cover bolts with his hand!!!! Which could only be negligence of the mechanic who installed itIf you do not possess the knowledge to fix the problem, simply tell the customer, so I may find someone who is competent.

I myself personally attempted to respond to Mr.*** complaint by telephone on the day after he left his message. I have consistently given Mr.*** exceptional customer service and have built my business on it, I take a great deal pride in my work ethicWhen Mr.*** came
to my shop, his fuel gauge did not work. He insisted that putting in a fuel pump would solve the problem. I advised him that this was not the solution again recommended repairing the fuel gauge. He insisted and even brought his fuel pump. Although, normally I do not operate a" bring your own part" shop, I made an exception for him. I made sure he understood that this would not solve his fuel gauge problem, he understood and requested we go forwardAs far as the noise coming from the serpentine belt. My mechanic explained to Mr.*** that this is common when changing a serpentine belt because coolant has overflown on the belt would cause it to squeak temporarily but it would stop after a few days and it didMr.*** does not seem to understand that his vehicle is not running out of gas because his fuel pump is not working, rather his gauge reads incorrectly and his tank is empty even though his fuel gauge does not reflect that

this customer was a manager at the auto parts store I buy parts from. she brought the truck to me with the missfire problem.  she had already replaced tune up parts her self. after explaining to her that the problem could be in the valve train she agreed to have the heads removed. once the...

heads were removed we were able to see into the valley of the motor and could see the sludge build up all through out the engine.  I called [redacted] and she and her dad came to the shop. they saw what was inside the motor. the sludge and carbon buildup was thick. this is what is known as a sludge motor.  if the sludge is not cleaned and removed the motor will not last very long.if not cleaned outshe would have been back in a short period of time with a rod knocking or some other low end problem. she and her dad both agreed that the best thing to do was to pull the motor out and rebuild.  the customer supplied all the parts we did the labor. the labor cost to her was at a discounted price because she was a manager at the parts store I buy from, she didnt have a whole lot of money and she had to make payments to me for my labor. I did everything I could to help out this girl.  she knew everyone who worked here and had no problem recomending people to us. she knew the tech who pulled her motor out. I rebuilt the motor myself and the tech reinstalled the motor. she now has the gall to insult us after what we did to help her out.  she has worked on her truck herself before and after we rebuilt the engine so I do not know what she has done to it.nor can I be held responsible for what other people have done to it.  we have bent over backwards to help her out.

I am rejecting the response from ms [redacted]. none of the second complaint was mentioned in the first complaint.  I will not be intimidated by someone who wants to be rude, make false accusations, make accusations with out any proof. she can state all she wants but none of it is any good or will hold water if there is no proof of her accusations. insulting me or any of my staff is not tolerated.there is no excuse for it. I will conduct my business in a professional way as I have for 19+ years. this customer has worked on her vehicle before we worked on it, and after it left my shop. I dont know what has been done to this vehicle after it left my shop nor can I be blamed for it. I can not warranty any parts the customer supplied. I can only warranty my labor. if there was something wrong with the labor part of this job then I should have been notified. I was not. again  I have bent over backwards to help this girl out.
