Helix Transfer and Storage Reviews (%countItem)

This company damaged my Brazilian hard wood floor in my new home. This company damaged 3 tables. This company would not accept a check for payment, when you pay with credit card they charge you 3% additional to cost.
This company is not a professional moving company. This company is run by foreigners who barely speak english. They send young inexperienced foreigners to move your possessions. They did not care about the damage they caused nor did the owner when I spoke to him on the phone. Now I have to fill out a bunch of paperwork and hope to have my damaged home and furniture fixed.

+1

Movers showed up to the house and quoted a 50% price increase between what their brokerage best moving and storage quoted and what they estimated. They showed up with a 12,500 lb truck with a full packing option and told us we only were estimated for 6,000 lbs of materials. They wanted to use over 65 disk packs which were the most expensive boxes with the most expensive labor. They took a full 48 hours to pack a three bedroom house, asked us to pack some boxes so they didn’t have to charge us more. There wasn’t anything in the house that wasn’t on the inventory list, and at the end they ended up strapping 2 king size mattresses to the back of the truck to drive from RI to MD to switch trucks. Not only this, but they left 4 boxes that they packed behind, a grill and a dog crate to which they shrugged their shoulders and said don’t know what to say, we are out of room. We were told that the truck would arrive in 72 hours since we had exclusive use without any stops, and when we called to ask when the truck would come, we were asked to call 6 days after the truck left. It is astonishing to me that no one has made any attempts to make good on delivering the rest of the good or that no one has taken responsibility for the grossly misquoted packing (50%). I want to know what we are going to do about this, when the contents will come and whether or not they will deliver the rest of my stuff or replace it.

Date: Tue, Aug 6, 2019 at 12:36 PMSubject: Re: Complaint ***To: *** <***@myRevdex.com.org>Thanks, ***. They resolved their portion. I appreciate you help and guidance. Best

Three top-notch rockstars showed up on time, professionally disassembled and packed multiple floors, wrapped several flat screen TVs, and safely delivered EVERYTHING to our new house with no damage what so ever. Totally professional, great personalities, and beyond helpful. They handled all my furniture with care as if it was their own. They even accommodated a last minute midway stop to another location to retrieve additional furniture for me. They even wore protective booties in my house the entire time without me asking. And believe it or not, the pricing was more than reasonable. This is my first new home purchase and Helix definitely gave me a great performance.

This was actually an enjoyable experience. All I needed to do was just point and smile...

How does this company rate an A with the Revdex.com? I contacted *** for a move from Florida to North Carolina. They in turn hired Helix to move my belongings. The movers showed up a day early (I was not finished packing and consequently had to rent a *** and towed the rest of my belongings to the tune of $200). It was pouring rain when they loaded my belongings into the truck so everything was wet. They said the weight would be well above the quote from Best Interstate although I did not move a lot of furniture that was in the original quote. Upon delivery, the charges were about 35% above the original quote. I am missing boxes, one of which contained a very expensive set of kitchen knives. I called Best Interstate and they in turn contacted Helix to see if the boxes were still in the warehouse. Answer was no. I guess they "fell off the truck"? Fortunately I used my *** card to pay for a portion of the charges and have now filed a dispute with the company. The movers were Serbian and I am questioning the legitimacy of the company.

Helix Transfer&Storage *** Gaithersburg, MD *** Helix Transfer and Storage was the authorized household motor carrier contracted to transport to *** household goods from Florida to North Carolina. Based on the agreement received from the moving broker, *** provided the logistics of the relocation as well as submitted an inventory of the items to that were to be transported. While in the booking process the customer is advised of the standard valuation coverage that is included in her move as well as the option to purchase additional coverage. Up until the items are loaded, the customer can elect to purchase additional insurance. If the customer elects not to purchase the additional insurance, the claim will be processed at $.60 per pound per item; again, which is inclusive with the move. On the day of pick up, the movers presented *** with several documents that were required to be signed prior to any items being packed/loaded onto the truck. One document is the Interstate Revised Written Estimate. The movers surveyed there were items to be transported than what was originally estimated, thus voiding the original estimate and creating a new one. The Interstate Revised Written estimate document Irescinds the estimate the customer had with the moving broker and creates a new estimate with the movers, Helix Transfer and Storage. There is a disclaimer on the document that informs the customer "sign this document only if you agree to the new total estimated price. DO NOT sign this document if blank. Also, shipper moving more items/weight then was first anticipated and revised total estimated charges was approved in totality in person/prior to loading. *** signed this document, acknowledging that she agreed to the said terms listed. (see attachment). In addition, *** was presented with the Interstate Bill of Lading Valuation Addendum. This document provides the customer the options of coverage in the event there were damages sustained during transport. Option 1; Full Replacement Value Protection educates the customer that if any article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in your mover's custody, your mover will, at its option, either 1) repair the article to the extent necessary to restore it to the same condition as when it was received by your mover, or pay you for the cost of such repairs; or 2) replace the article with an article of like kind and quality, or pay you for the cost of such a replacement. Under Full Replacement Value Protection, if you do not declare a higher replacement value on this form prior to the time of shipment, the value of your goods will be deemed to be equal to $6.00 multiplied by the weight (in pounds) of the shipment, subject to a minimum valuation for the shipment of $6,000. Under this option the cost of your move will be composed of a base rate plus an added cost reflecting the cost of providing this full value cargo liability protection for your shipment. Option 2; waiver of full replacement value protection. This lower level of protection is provided at no additional cost beyond the base rate; however, it provides only minimal on that is considerably less than the average value of household goods. Under this option, a claim for any article that may be lost, destroyed or damaged while in your mover's custody will be settled based on the weight of the individual article multiplied by 60 cents. Our records reflect *** elected option 2, ultimately choosing to receive payment of $.60 per pound per article in the event there were any damaged or missing items.

Based on the policy, the customer would be required to file a claim for the missing items and receive $.60 per pound. However, per Federal regulations, and as outlined on the Interstate Bill of Lading. All outstanding monies due to carrier must be paid in full before any claim can be made. As of right now, the customer has filed a dispute with her credit card company for the amount of $2112.38 instead of filing a claim for the missing box.

In order to appease ***, Helix Transfer and Storage is willing to make extreme provision to our policy and forego the mandated claim process of the standard valuation of $.60 per pound. Our office will extend a good faith gesture of $300.00 to *** for the box of items that is missing. Prior to receiving these funds, the customer would be required to sign a full and final settlement agreement that requires her to recant and settle all outstanding claims against our office.

We are regretful *** had a less than favorable experience and her items were not delivered and look forward to resolving this matter both amicably and expeditiously.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
The missing items are worth far more than the settlement offered. The contents were clearly marked on the boxes and I believe they were stolen.

Regards

Very smooth and effective. I called, got a quote and set the time. They showed up and finished everything on time, no damages and price was exactly as estimated, Highly recommended.

We hired them to move our main company office. They came on time, finished on time, nothing was damaged, and price was even lower then the estimate. Highly recommended.

Hired company for a move from Stamford VT to Greenville Il.Proper paperwork not filled out in Vt.Truck arrived in Il ,unloaded and left. After leaving, noticed 4' fiberglass stepladder missing as well as several pieces of items missing.Noticed in garage a junk 2'step stool left in its place of ladder.Around $2000 of damage done to furniture. Company charged over $1000 more than quoted.Called company and was told he needed all sticker numbers to file a claim. His people didn't record any numbers upon loading or unloading making it impossible to file a claim. Have alot of pictures and paperwork to prove amount of damage and lack of filled out paperwork. Spoke with company and they are making it impossible to file a claim and acts like its not their problem. But when you hire people that steals from a customer, it is their problem as they were seen using a 2'step stool to unload.Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

All the necessary paperwork (Bill of lading, Revised written estimate, Valuation selections, Packing form) was explained and signed by *** at the time of pick up prior to loading. After pick up was done customer was provided with all copies as well as the light weight ticket of the truck and copy of the new inventory sheets. The same inventory sheets were signed at the delivery and copies were provided. Customer did not write any remarks or notes prior to signing inventory pages.

Due to an overage in weight and packing supplies customer was billed an additional $1,422.11.

On May 9th a customer care representative from Helix Transfer & Storage spoke with *** and discussed the damages done to her household goods.

After the conversation, an email was send to *** with the following attachments:

1)Filling of a claim procedure.

2)Standard claim form.

Our company never got back any correspondence form . and ***.

After a complaint was filed with Revdex.com on May 11th, a customer care rep. got back to *** on May 16th.

The customer rep. went over the filling of a claim procedure with *** and explained how to correctly fill out the form and also to provide photos of the damaged items, so the claim to be validated.

*** stated that she will have the form completed in couple of days and mail it to the physical address of the moving company due to unavailability of uploading it back to her computer.

Unfortunately in the moving industry damages occur, that is why customers are always provided with a standard value protection of $0.60 per pound per article by DOT rules and regulations at no extra charge. It is the customer responsibility to get a third party insurance with a higher value protection.

Helix Transfer and Storage takes pride and stands behind every move we perform.

Helix Transfer and Storage Response • May 29, 2018

On May 29th, 2018, we’ve contacted ***. We apologized again for the the damages that she stated she had. We have offered $500.00 immediate compensation and a brand new 4 foot ladder.

*** rejected our offer and stated that the amount was too low to cover the damages that she claimed she had. She asked for $1,500.00 compensation which we couldn’t agree on as the amount far exceeded what our insurance policy covered. *** stated that she felt her belongings weren’t treated with respect and care and our movers stepped on her boxes. We’ve had a meeting with the movers that performed the delivery and asked them what happened. They explained that they didn’t step on the boxes or mistreated *** items but ***’s boxes were extremely heavy and overstuffed.

*** stated that our moving company did an outstanding pick up and she only had complains about the delivery of her items. We understood that she felt upset and we did our best to have this case settled. She refused to accept our compensation.

Regards,
Dusan

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Offer still too low. I saw them stand on my boxes to reach other higher up so I am not a lair. I feel my amount is fair.

Regards

I contracted a move from Charleston, SC to Herndon VA through ***. They in turn hired Helix Transfer and Storage to move my possessions. I had packed the house myself, and listed boxes I would need to complete my move. This list was on the inventory provided by *** and I paid $874.50 for these services.

When Helix packed my possessions, they charged me $1,489 for boxes and packing services. When I called and complained to ***, they said Helix would give me a courtesy refund of $150.00 and deduct the $874.50 I originally paid. I have never received this refund. I believe they double charged for boxes I previously paid for through *** -- and also added a packing price. The total I feel I am due from Helix is $604.50.

I called *** and complained about the overcharge several times. They in turn offered to refund me $464.50 if I would sign a nondisclosure agreement with them and not file a complaint through the Revdex.com. I am not sure who I should be filing this complaint against, as the charge came from Helix.
