We apologize for any confusion or misunderstandings with our recent service. At Hellas Air we always like to keep our customer's informed. When it comes to our recommendations, we not only take into consideration the immediate costs for a customer but also any future costs that may arise. Your current system is over 14 years old and runs with R22 refrigerant. Although it is operating today, the life expectancy of a heat pump system is roughly between 10-15 years. The time will soon come when the system needs to be replaced or further extensive repairs may be needed. And this will be in addition to your initial repair costs of the motor. There is also a current phase-out of R22 refrigerant and the cost of refrigerant and replacement parts for R22 systems have risen and will continue to rise. We recommended replacing the system due to its age and to allow you to avoid future costly repairs. The choice is ultimately yours; the customer’s. The outdoor switch to the system was left off intentionally. Because your system needed a replacement motor, the goal was to not cause any further damages to your outdoor compressor and condensing unit. If you had chosen to replace the motor and not the entire system, we wanted to avoid the unnecessary cost to you of replacing the compressor. This was done for your benefit. We apologize if this was not fully explained to you. We are always willing to hear any suggestions or requests from the customer and apologize if your requests were misheard. Again we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you and we hope that you may consider our services again in the future. Hellas Air always strives for honesty and integrity and as a testament to our word; we will issue you a refund for half of the maintenance program you have paid for.
