I, *** ***, am responding to a complaint referenced above
regarding tint on a VW owned by *** ***. I've included the
e-mail correspondence between the customer and my shop, Helotes
Lube'n Tune
My shop performs Texas DeptOf Public Safety Inspections for
Bexar county and the surrounding countiesWe perform approximate
-ly 10,000/calendar yearOf this population of inspections, this cust-
omer's vehicle represents the ONLY ONE with a windshield tinted
on the INSIDE of the windshield with a CLEAR UV TintMy in-
spector was NOT advised by the customer of this very rare and spe-
cialized tint, as referenced in his e-mail to meThe damage to the
tint was very minimal, less than 1/2” below the inspection sticker, as
agreed by the customer
The customer also acknowledges that he failed to notify the inspec-
tor of the clear tint. The customer bears responsibility for failing to
inform my inspector of the very rare and specialized tint.
I therefore stand by my original decision and will not participate in
any repair or replacement cost.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
The claimed extreme rarity of windshield UV tint is an exaggerationIf the claim can be supported by any real evidence, I would invite itFurther, the tech who damaged the tint claimed that a piece of sticker somehow lodged itself under the tint, which was impossible considering the fact that the tint was previously in damaged and completely adhered to the windshieldThis dishonesty is evidence of the business practices of this establishmentWhen confronted with the evidence, the owner attempted to reason that it would have been impossible to avoid damaging the tint, which seemed to me to be a form of back peddling to avoid taking responsibilityI will not consider this to be resolved until I receive some act of contrition.
