I agree there could have been a storm while we were on vacation but whatever hit my house and wrecked my plants had been cleaned up. There were hundreds of twigs and leaves buried in my privet bush. Leaves that matched my neighbors tree. There were deep ruts in the grass where something heavy (like cut up tree logs) landed. Whatever hit my grass was gone when we got home. Unfortunately we have nothing but circumstantial evidence here. I'll just agree to disagree with Hendels explanation.

WE BILLED FOR TOTAL TREE WORK AND THE CUSTOMER ONLY NEEDS TO PAY WHEN EACH STAGE OF THE WORK IS DONE. THIS IS EXPLAINED WHEN SCHEDULING WORK. WHEN A TREE IS IN BAD SHAPE THE DECISION IS ALWAYS UP TO THE CUSTOMER IN WHAT THEY WANT DONE, IF ANYTHING. THE CUSTOMER CHOSE TO BOLT IT TO TRY TO SAVE IT. THE CUSTOMER WANTS A REFUND BECAUSE IT DIDN’T WORK FOR THAT TREE AND NOW WANTS IT REMOVED.
They came out and gave me an estimate on May 19th and came and did the job on May 27th. They orginally came out on the 26th to do it vut there was a storm so they came out early Friday morning. They arrived at 9am and completed the job by 1pm. I had a tree I n the front and back cut down. The price was very affordable and they were very efficient!
12/20=Business took customer's name and phone number and said they will contact customer about the issue. Business interested in making it right and fixing it, if possible.

This is a reply from your recent letter of Sept.3, 2014. 1. Hendel's was sent a letter by registared mail to the address listed on their billing statements which is the one you have listed on this internet form. They refused to pick it up. I have the proof with the returned letter from the Post Office. I then again sent them a copy of the the letter regular mail which was never returned undeliverable. 2. When they came to give the estimate I said do we need to take the tree down intending for it to be removed. The reply was they thought they could save it..... After talking about it and going on their number of years in business ......I went with what THEY suggested thinking they ought to know what they are talking about. The orginal quote included 2 bolts not 1 which is what they put in. I don't know if that would have made a difference or not. But the bottom line is.......they did not do what they said they would do. A second bolt may have stablized the tree enough to make it..........? 3. Because of the danger of the tree destroying a chain link fence if it fell........It has been removed. 4. We have talked to our attorney concerning this.'Desired Settlement:

Beware! Hendel's Affordable Tree Service came to cable a tree when I was not at home. They left a total mess in the backyard and patio area, plus I can't see the cable. I have called them repeatedly since before Thanksgiving asking the owner to come and check for himself, and show me where it is. So far he has not even called me on the phone about the issue.

Hendel's removed a dead tree for me but did not remove the stump, saying that it was a separate procedure. I was fine with that and called the company a week later to schedule the stump removal. I was agreeable to paying for a separate service call. The workers never appeared. I placed a second call and received another promise that they would schedule me. Same thing; they never showed up. A third call ended in a tirade from a man who identified himself as the business owner. He could not seem to understand that I was willing to pay for another procedure; I just wanted it done. Each time I called I spoke with someone different, so there was no continuity regarding my situation. Apparently they don't keep records. One of the phone receptionists told me that there was a history of quick personnel turnover in the company, probably why. These events took place over an eight month interval. To this day I don't know why I didn't receive service. I'd suggest prospective customers look elsewhere.
