This client enrolled
two children in our program on 3/25/and chose a start date of 4/20/and
time slots on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 5:30-6:30PM and 6:00-7:00PM. A deposit is required in order to reserve a
time slot, as this means that no other clients can enroll in these time
slots,
and as time slots are limited, this means time slots are equal to revenue. The deposit also allows us to do significant
work preparing the work plan and child specific materials for each child in
order to be ready for the child’s first day at the center. A $deposit is required to hold a single
time slot, this client wished to reserve two time slots and we only took
$as opposed to $1,as a courtesy to her, so she only paid half our
standard rate to reserve these time slots.
We then held these time slots until 4/20/15, and when the client did not
show up for her first appointment we continued to hold the time slots until
5/2/when they were released (see below).
Significant time and expense was spent prior to 4/20/in order to
prepare two work plans and child specific material packets in order to be ready
for this client’s first day.
Multiple
other clients were interested in these two time slots during the holding period
(3/25/15-5/2/15) and we had to inform them that these were not available for
enrollment. These clients either found
other time slots that would work with their school/work/sports/events schedules
or they did not enroll, costing us significant revenue
We attempted
to contact this client on multiple occasions from 3/25/to 4/20/in order to
remind them of their first day and gather various information, but this client
would not return our calls/messages.
When they did not show up for their first day on 4/20/we immediately
called and continued to follow up to try and reschedule their first day, but
the client would not respond. On 4/30/
we left a final voicemail for this client that if she did not contact us by
5/1/we would have to release these time slots. She never contacted us and we released the
time slots to other clients on 5/2/after holding them for almost a month and
a half.
This client
was told verbally and in writing on 3/25/that this deposit was non
refundable. See the language from the
enrollment packet (attached) she was given and walked through on 3/25/15:

This client contacted
us on 11/5/and asked for a refund of the deposit, she was informed that the
deposit was non refundable for the reasons listed above

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] A date to start the program was never agreed on due to limited time for both of my grandson with their busy schedules and my travel situation is a problem alone. Also I needed to see if financing would be available.  I never received a telephone call or message stating of time slot. If their program states $500 for each enrollment,  why not 1,000 for my two children?Because  i couldn't set a date or time and needed to seek financing. After paying 500.00 instead of 1,000 and receiving finance I could  call and arrange time with pay in full. Why decline the  offer? After getting my children evaluated and  financing being declined, I found other alternative to help my grandchildren. Both or doing great in school. Its always for room for improvement. Even though I would love to have the money  I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that only lost  $500 dollars instead of 10,000. The main issue: If this is their policy of $500 an applicant and two kids were enrolled  they did not follow their own policy. Their is no information in their agreement/policy  regarding a deduction of 50%  for two.Regards,
